Thanks for your response.
But he didn't submit any paper before he was issues white paper.. and the supplement question they asked for is just personal profile questions that was already answered in his DS-160 forms.
Fingers crossed then.

Hello boss in the house kindly help with this question? A friend was giving white paper on his interview dates and no document was asked from him and after two days they send him a mail to provide supplement documents and he was been place on Administrative processing( status is still refused). they sent mail to him that his passport is ready for collection at DHL office! The passport is not stamped. So he filled the documents they requested for and send it back.
Please how long does it take for a status to change from refuse to probably approval?
And has something like this ever happen before?
Thanks as I await your response.
It actually varies but once they're done with verifications and no document is fraudulent in anyway, the tatus will definitely change. Just keep checking and praying to whatever you believe in.

Please guys, I need help. I renewed my passport since 23 April this year. Till now, the passport is not ready. I was at Ikoyi office in Lagos today. Still nothing. They were calling names instead of checking with the enrollment number - which I find repugnant. Long story short, I waited till they called all the surnames starting with "OL" still no show.

My school resumes first week in Aug and I haven't still booked appointment for Visa. Please what can I do to get the passport out next week?
You may have to beg or threaten the person you paid to. The lies about booklet is obsolete so your passport should be ready.

Amidst all the goodnews of visa approvals, some that were rejected would probably not post their reject or talk about what went down and I completely understand that feeling. But this is to remind you that you have to reach out to people here either publicly or someone privately who is experienced enough and explain what happened. Let them guide you and make sure you try again. Getting admission is good but trust me when you're funded in anyway it is even better. This is not to discourage those without funding whatsoever as we've seen several cases of admissions without funding and they still get their visas but while celebrating your admission from that school, reach out to the department for funding. It helps your America dream and also make your visa interview easier in most cases. Don't give up on the quest for a better life outside Nigeria because you were denied just once. We've seen cases of 7 denials and he got it on the 8th attempt. Go back and pay the mrv (visa) fee and let people help you prepare better and you continue trying till you get that visa. Don't run away, it'll pay off in the end. And yes I'm talking to you Reading this that was denied recently and you're thinking of not trying again. GO BACK AND TRY AGAIN

If you're looking for hotels that is close enough to the embassy (Lagos). There's a military Barracks like 3mins walk to the embassy and it's 10k.

Please house I have a crucial question bothering me.
On my 1-20 form I was given fundings from my dept for 12 months as a TA that covers my tuition and living expenses. I have about $5,000 surplus for the year. But my program is 2 years. On my funding letter, scholarship for the 2nd year is conditional. Meaning I have to attain a gpa of 3.00/4.00 to get an extension. My older brothers statement of account is fair enough to cover my trip. But not my second year expenses. Please! For those that have had their interview would I be mostly likely asked for proof of funding despite the scholarship details on the 1-20 form? My appointment is in 2 weeks time. I am really worried. Thanks.
There is no problem here sir.. Your i20 is what the vo will use. Most times they don't ask for your offer letter.

I'm sure if you take your time to go through the thread you'll see tons of them. That's why this thread is golden. All you have to do is take out time and read up different transcript and you can predict the possible questions you'd be asked.
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by Rhonah: 11:19am On May 28, 2021
Just felt like sharing

ITEMS TO TAKE ALONG TO THE EMBASSY (F1)
* I20 (Must) ( ensure it shows your funding if any)
*Ds 160 confirmation(Must)
*Appointment Confirmation(Must)
*Original International passport (Must) (There's a machine to check it's authenticity so don't bother to go with fake)
*Two or Four Passport photographs 2x2(Must) ( I'm not sure glasses are allowed in the passport)
*Proof of admission or Admission letter ( Must but they don't ask most times)
*Proof of funding ( Must, if you have one though)
*If you'll be sponsored by your company then make sure you have a letter to attest to that and a leave of absence from work for the duration of your program.
*Banks statement of your sponsor (Must, If you have a deficit >=$1)
*GT Payment receipt (Must)
*Sevis Payment Receipt (Must)
*Undergraduate academic transcript (optional)
*Undergraduate Certificate (optional)
*Test scores( optional but they ask for it occasionally)
And most importantly your CONFIDENCE.
NB:
REMEMBER this is the era of nose mask so you may have to be audible than usual so it doesn't depict fear or insincerity.
* REMEMBER to maintain focus and ignore those guys asking you to re arrange your documents or photocopy your passport. The security guys vetting your documents at the first stage of your entrance would direct you on how to arrange them ( They have a very loud voice so don't worry you'll hear them when they speak). If there's anything you're not sure of, ask from people who looks like your age mate on the queue if they're for Student visa as well and ask questions. Note that some of them may not answer you cos they don't want to lose focus but most will answer you cos some of them are not new there and they know the drill already.
*ALSO, Face what you're there for and ignore the vo rejecting all the people before you or around you. The grace we carry varies.
*If you stutter, make it known to the VO before you start so you don't sound unprepared. Most times the VO just wants to see if you're sure of what you're going for.
* Mantain eye contact with the VO throughout the interview ( it is human to be nervous but remember they are also human and most of them are actually friendly and just want to chat, the only difference is that you will be standing and answering questions for few minutes while they sit and ask the questions you answered in your ds 160.
* REMEMBER to practice as many times as possible, that is where you get the confidence to talk better and genuinely. If you have someone to practice with, that's fine and if you don't, Talk to your mirror and rate yourself.
*Also, remember to take money along cos they won't keep your phones for free but if you can drop it back home then that's better
* Yes, you should dress well, whatever regalia you wear make sure it is neat and smart.
* And also, remember the gestures on your face during the interview can't be seen cos of the nose mask so the VO can't tell when you're laughing or actually exclaiming "Ha" like my yoruba people so you should work more on sounds and hand gestures if it makes you more comfortable bearing in mind these people just wants to chat with me.
*Lastly, remember to pray to whatever you believe in.

Lagos Interview - Approved
27 May 2021
Assistantship covers 99% COA
Deficit $500

Thank you to all contributors here. You guys helped me through my journey. Thank you so much @schrodinger1 and @dodoyinsola for your help. I am super grateful.

I don't have so much to share from my personal interview experience however, from others that I listened to while waiting for my turn, it is best to go very prepared with lots of prayers. Study all transcripts on this forum and draft yours too. I drafted mine and went through the interview process with a Nairalander at least once. Treasure the advice on this platform....na real gold!

Wishing all other prospectives God's favour!

TRANSCRIPT

VO- Good morning
Me- Good morning

VO- Can I have your passport and documents
Me- Passed old and new passport and form i-20

VO- why did you give me two passports?
Me- One is my old passport. She immediately gave it back to me.

VO- Reads out...You are going to ...XYZ...University to study....ABC
Me- That's correct

VO- I can see you have assistantship
Me- Yes please

VO- Do you have proof of this
Me- Yes. Searched my documents, couldn't find the print out and I saw it stuck to the form i-20 I gave her. Told her to check beneath the form i-20. She didn't.

VO- Typed on her system and handed me the white paper with my documents while she kept my passport. Told me to pick up....
Me- Thank you and left.

Congratulations dear... that was beautiful and smooth.

My Visa was denied
Location:Lagos Embassy
GA: 14k
Deficit: 7k

Vo: Good morning

Me: Good morning, Sir

Vo: you are going to North Carolina University and you graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University(Shook his head in a weird manner). So, why NCU?

Me: I made up my mind to go my Masters degree and I spoke with a professor in my alma mater who is an alumunus of the University...

Vo: Okay, you are a High school teacher? Since when have you been teaching?

Me:...Yes and I also consult for undergrads. I started teaching in 2016

Vo: a High school teacher? Who will pay for the deficit

Me: My Dad

Vo: what does he do?

Me: he is a business man who deals in industrial chemicals and agro allied products

Vo: Ok. So, you are a high school teacher?

Me: Yes (I wondered why he emphasized more on that)

Vo: Sorry, you should try and reapply

The Blue paper: ... You do not have a strong tie... Blah blah

I walked away
To start with, irrespective of how the vo asks a question doesn't imply anything. Even if he shakes his whole body in a weird manna, focus on what brought you there. Also, why NCU? The first thing I'd expect is a reminder the school was generous enough to give you a GA and it covers your tuition and provide you stipends as well (whichever case it is). Then talk about the fascinating thing about your program (those should be on your department website i suppose). I just feel your mock interviews wasn't good enough sir/ma and you should let people vet your responses.. Above all, look for date asap and go get your visa sir/ma. Cheers!

Guys, i would like to know if the response below is okay.

I am filling my ds 160 form and

I am asked, "Have you ever been refused a U.S. Visa, or been refused admission to the United States, or withdrawn your application for admission at the port of entry?"

I responded yes and in the explanation box I say "I WAS REFUSED A US F1 VISA ON THE 6TH OF MAY, IT WAS EXPLAINED THAT I DID NOT SHOW STRONG HOME TIES"

is the response okay?
I think putting just 214B there should be enough. They already know what it means.
