Politics / Re: "Blame Northern-Nigeria Muslim Elites For Boko Haram" - Bishop Matthew Kukah by royal231(m): 10:07am On Nov 30, 2015
Bishop.. hmm

Not only the northern elites.... it's all the northerners including you....

History of boko haram... they started with the Igbos. ... what did you do or say then .... nothing

What did other northerners say or do then... absolutely nothing

Until they went to the church..... ... deep down in the elites mind... they were happy Because the church was growing....

Now people no gree go church again for north

Dem face them selves...

Oga shey na now your eyes open...

You seem to forget that the Igbos suffered more in the hands of bokoharam

Not sharia or whatever is the cause.. it started with pure hatred and envy...

And all northerners .. I repeat all northerners envy and hate the Igbos

What you see today is just a spill over effect...

Blood calls for more blood irrespective of the tribe and religion..

TolstoyFan:
The Roman-Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah has said Northern Nigeria elites indirectly created terrorism as they used religion to deceive poor Muslims. Kukah made this disclosure in his keynote address at a conference organised by the Islamic Welfare Foundation at the Fountain University, Osogbo.

Speaking on the theme, ‘The Muslim agenda for Nigeria: Challenges of development and good governance’, Kukah said: “A hypocritical elite continues to believe that it can claim the benefits of democracy but use it only to consolidate its hold on power. This is what has laid the foundation for what is now Boko Haram. We must locate the current crisis of Boko Haram within the context of the inability of the northern Muslim elite to live by their own dubious creed of being Muslims. They preached Sharia Law but only for the poor. They preach a religion that encourages education, yet their own people are held in the bondage of ignorance.

“They came to power on the basis of a democratic society but they turned around and declared Sharia to generate a false consciousness among the poor that they want a theocracy. They did not wish to live by the same standards, so they decided to live their own Islam in the capitals of the world away from the prying eyes of their own people. Boko Haram began as a revolt against this mendacity, subterfuge and hypocrisy.

“Now, I hear Muslims in northern Nigeria hiding under the cover of the facts by saying: ‘These Boko Haram people are not Muslims. They do not represent us’. Well, first, they are your own children. You must take responsibility for what has made them what they are today and to the rest of society. They claim they have been inspired by the Quran and no other holy book. They say they want to build an Islamic state. So, they are Muslims. After all, from the debates of the Constituent Assemblies of 1979, 1988, and 1995 and beyond, did their fathers and grandfathers not stage walkouts, demanding Sharia Law? Was it not to tame them that President Ibrahim Babangida declared what he called ‘no-go areas’ in the debates about our constitution?

“The promise to institute Sharia has become the most potent tool for political mobilisation and organisation. Till date, the tactics may have changed, but the essence has not. Rather than face the tough questions of how and why over 15 million children in the northern states are on the streets; how and why the northern states are falling behind on almost every index of development, the northern Muslim elite continues to live for just the moment, with no plans for tomorrow.

“Should we pretend that a society that allows the forced marriages of its young daughters could frown on the idea of a group kidnapping and forcing young girls into sexual slavery? Islam must have an honest look at the mirror and have an internal discussion. Although we all seem to pretend that Boko Haram has caught us unawares, the worst thing is that we continue to hide our heads in the sands of self-deception by further denying the roots of this ugly side of our humanity.

“That Boko Haram, its disciples and victims are localised to northern Nigeria, should be instructive. What this calls for is an honest review of the root causes. We need to ask what it is about the past or the present that has led us to this ugly and deadly path. It is my considered view that northern Islam has to confront the realities of taking its religion into the modern world of democracy seriously. Muslims in northern Nigeria cannot accept democracy and reject the inclusive nature of its philosophy as it is the case today.”

Family / Re: My Husband Has Idolised Me And Now I'm Fed Up. Need Help by royal231(m): 10:36am On Nov 26, 2015
You suppose dey happy na... no worry until another woman come hol am .. dat time your eye go clear

enstack:
I had to create a new account just to post this as it's quite sensitive. It's quite lengthy too but I'll be brief. I need mature and friendly advice from people here.

When I first met my husband, it was in a library. We talked briefly and we became close. I have had past relationships in my life so I was careful as possible. I realised that he had no past relationship. He was a typical virgin and was new and I was his first girlfriend. So I felt comfortable with him. He was so kind and loving so I agreed to marry him.

Now it has gotten worse. Everytime he does anything I want without asking questions. At first I enjoyed it but now I'm starting to worry about him as it's getting out of hand. He does not display any act of manliness in the house. He behaves like my puppet or my foot stool. The other day he was watching the soccer game and I just jokingly mentioned how boring it was and I would prefer the faith channel. He changed the channel to the faith channel just like that. Even at work he would be calling me and texting me I am even scared he would loose his job if his employer finds out.

I have no time for myself.. he is always around. Sometimes if I say no to his advances for sex he would act like I am a wicked woman who has cheated him or rubbed him of his right. He would give me the silent treatment for weeks until I give in. On Sunday he insisted on going with me to the salon and it's now embarrassing as every Sunday my mates in the salon would gossip about how my husband is the only man amongst women making their hairs because his wife is there. I try to talk to him but he would feel so sad like I have taken smething away. I don't understand.

If I'm studying at night, he would suddenly begin to romance me and strip me of my clothing without saying anything first when he can see I'm studying. If I rebuke him, he would be very sad. Every time he must have one intimate relation with me everyday and life does not work that way. I don't know if it's immaturity or he is sick mentally. The day I returned home 11pm due to huge traffic jam, I was expecting him to be furious like any other man.. he was with all smiles even offered me water and collected my bag and books. Christ.

I need sincere help. I told his family that I'll file a divorce if this continues as I cannot live like this. It's no longer love but idolatry. I thought it's wives that are submissive.. he is the one submissive. Anything I ask... he grants even silly things. Things that a real man would query before granting.

I am sure that if I ask him to bathe in acid he would do it. I'm sick and tired of this marriage. Just a year. The last quater he gave me his ATM to spend when I went for training in Abuja. When I was spending excessively he was quiet about it until I returned and found it he was broke that i wrecked him. I was wondering what happened to him. Why didn't he talk?

Please Nairalanders what is happening? I love him still and divorce would be my last resort. I need your advice and help on how to fix this because I don't know what to do anymore.

Thank you all.

No igbo man will ever rule Nigeria. They can never be trusted with power. Pa Oyegun you hit the nail on the head. Who would want to share power with people that have proven to be enemies of the state and traitors? The day an igbo rules this country he will divide Nigeria. They're not to be trusted. They'll have to wait for the next 500yrs or probably rule themselves in Biafra. Thank God the last elections showed how irrelevant their votes are. South South is in a better position of producing another president than the SE. My advice to my fellow S/Southerners is that we should allow ourselves to be dragged into politics of bitterness and hatred like those from the red soil zone.

Wishful thinking. Amateurishly put together. Nigeria is not breaking. Nigerian Muslims are mostly Sunni aligned so where is Ayatollah going to come from?. Nigeria is not going to break up . There will be administrative improvisations to make it less irritating to its constituent nationalities..
I see an Ibo man behind this post. You accept the economic advantages of a large Nigerian market to the mercantilist Ibo tribe but reject it's political consequences.

What I foresee is the wipe out of the current empty and corrupt political class by Buhari or his successors. They are all in for painful times PDP or APC. A new class of people more attuned to social service and good name instead of money will come to the fore.

The world is very globalised so there is not going to be much desire for idxxtic clannishness. There are already second generation Nigerian families in the US, UK and Canada. Most young Nigerians will live and work abroad throughout significant portions of their lives. Nigeria's GDP is $560bn but Apole and Google already have market capitalizations almost equal to that so National Governments will continue to lose influence in relation to Global Organisations.
In the middle east , ISIS is already redrawing National borders. Also there is no Libya as we speak.Nigerians should get together to make this temporary shelter as powerful and strong as is possible but it won't break in to ethnic nationalities, business is too good. If ithe tries to do so, Cameroon, Niger or the UN will administer breakaway regions but too much blood may flow first and God will not allow it

I even had to share a full cow with a hostel mate back then.... fulani can't try shit in my area.. Enugu state gave them refuge then.. and it was in 2007... infact after what they saw they relocated their market to asaba. .

SLIDEwaxie:
you see, its very funny how you guys masturbatez over the word "slave and master" grin and yet, you are the ones who scream about suffering more (which is not true though).

Fulani herdsmen ravaged everywhere including yeeboland, and we haven't heard u engaged them to death like the Yorubas once did.

but instead of you to identify your problem, you are busy laffing at the ones who's got the same problem with you and trying to solve it. that is how you people remain in your condition till now because if your elders were given dry gin and 1,000 each, they will you in a blink.

so, keep screaming slaves and masters while just recently, these same Fulani attacked a community in Enugu and you people didn't speak out abt it.

dey there dey wallow in your emptiness.
