GreenFarmsNG:With due respect sir/ma, I disagree with this. Slavery shouldn't be a choice. It should be outrightly discouraged and discontinued. Because we know that there are people in desperate need of money that is why we choose to offer next to nothing as payments for jobs. This shouldn't be. Why should someone tell me that he will pay me 200 naira for 1000 words? Because he knows that I may be desperately in need for money and so I will accept the barbaric offer. Most of these clients earn over 5 times what they pay. So why is it hard to pay the writer a considerate amount for the time, effort, fuel spent and other resources used? We shouldn't continue to accept such a mentality on the basis of choice. If this practice is firmly resisted, it will greatly help. 23 Likes 1 Share |

Actually, most of these so-called dirty jobs bring in money more than the so-called white-collar job. The only thing is that most of the people that do the former do not know money management. They tend to spend it on women and drinks and food. I know of a roadside mechanic that told us he makes about 300k a month. But if you look at him, he is suffering. He told us he wastes his money on nonsense. I know of a market woman selling stock fish that has properties in different places. 47 Likes 2 Shares |

I dashed to the sitting room, frantically searching for something. My fingers grabbed the nearest portable object; my plastic reading table. It is those types that you can open and put books inside. I grabbed it and without a second thought, went outside and flung it at the man's car. I intended for it to land close to the car just to draw his attention, but it landed on his bonnet with a thud, denting it. The man came out of his car. His eyes searching for where that came from. I waved from my location and could visibly see anger plastered on his face. Immediately, I flew down the flight of stairs and met a man who seemed like he wanted to tear me apart. I muttered a "sorry" and passed him, running straight to the back of his car. My eyes bulged at what I saw. Apparently, the little boy was not alone. From what I could deduce, his twin sis was stuck under the car, probably as they were playing, and he also got under trying to help her. I dragged the boy out as the man's eyes followed me, dragging his feet along. I also brought out the girl and there I was, presented with a little crowd that had gathered because of the thud and shouting from the man. That instance, it dawned on the man. His children were under the car and he was about to drive out. I explained the situation to the eager ears around, how I couldn't get the man's attention at first and had to throw something at him. The "thank yous," "Jesus," and "chais" kept pouring in. I had to seize the opportunity. I saw the dent on his bonnet and asked him what I could do about it. He gave me my expected reply, with his mouth still open, "don't worry about it." I quietly went back upstairs, cuddling my partly damaged reading table, leaving everyone to take in what had just happened. Later in the evening, the man came with his wife and the twins, thanking me for what I did. According to him, he dreamt that night of something bad happening to his twins. He had no idea that it was going to happen through him. I added flavor to the session with my occasional "hmm", "ahh" and "udomminit." Well, he finalized by asking for my account number. Who am I not to give it to him? Afterall, we are pencils in the hand of the creator. I was very happy when I saw 50k alert. He told me that the money he would have used to do burial, it's better he gives me some of it. While reminiscing on the event, I realized how few seconds could be the defining moments of one's life. Anyway, I have gained a new family as a friend. Lalasticlala 23 Likes 2 Shares |

So yesterday, I had this experience and want to share it here. I am a writer so pardon me as I narrate it. Early in the morning, somewhere in Port Harcourt, my legs carried me to the balcony of our two story building. I am normally an 'inside person', so whatever I was doing on the balcony at that time was what I could not tell. Though, I was to find out later. I just savored in the early morning breeze and lazily allowed my eyes wander across the scenery. My gaze settled downstairs on a little boy. His parents lived downstairs. With my eyes, I followed him as he trotted from the front of his father's car which was parked in front of their flat, to the back of the car. He seemed like he was looking for something. I didn't know what it was and I couldn't bother myself with another family's affair. I quickly removed my gaze from him, but immediately, his father emerged, carrying what looked like a phone close to his ear - probably listening to radio or making a call. Something seemed amiss but I couldn't tell. Then it struck me. I haven't seen that little boy since he disappeared to the back of the car. I squinted to see if I had missed him leaving that location. Then I saw it. From my vantage point, I saw some tiny legs directly behind the rear tyre. Damn! something bad is about to happen. At that instance, I screamed at the top of my voice at the man who was unlocking his car door at this moment. The little breeze that blew gleefully took my voice in the opposite direction away from the man. I had to do something...and fast. At the moment, the man was settling into his car but whoever or whatever he was listening to on his device was giving him a welcome distraction. My voice was not helping at all. My breath increase and my hair stood at the thought of the impending danger. I quickly looked behind me, if I could see something to hurl at him - nothing at all. 4 Likes 3 Shares |

crazyABO:bro actually that theory of controlling the amount of fuel to be used is not practical. For fuel to combust in an engine and create electricity or torque, a particular amount of fuel must enter. So even if you increase or reduce that knob, if that particular quantity of fuel does not pass through, electricity will not be produced. In summary, it's the same amount of fuel that is still being used. That knob is majorly to off and on and not 'control'....Just for educational purposes sha |

My dad is a good man, intelligent, intellectual, and very influential everywhere he finds himself. Back in the village, they always consult him before taking decisions. Here in town, he is highly respected. Now this is the problem, as the days go by, it keeps dawning on me that people are looking up to me to "follow in his steps" as the first son. In fact, most people know me as " son of (his name)". But I don't want to, I am a tech nerd, don't like gatherings, enjoy my solitude, very reserved. He always want me to "come out", see people, meet his friends, associate, and I very much dislike those. Honestly, he has the connections to set things up for me, but I feel satisfied when I achieve things my way. I am sure he wants me to take over his business, and stuffs like that, but I am in no way interested in those. While I am writing this is because, it's beginning to look like I am rebellious or stubborn. But I am not, I am just not interested in what may be termed "normal". How do I go about this issue? I don't want to look like a bad son, but at the same time, I don't want to engage in what I derive no pleasure in. Btw i should be done with my nysc by next year. So I need to take my decision fast. 2 Likes |
