Did they ask you at the POE if you'd be staying with her ?

Yes and they also called her to confirm.

Visa alert !!!

Biometrics: June 22nd
Collection mail: July 8th
Passport pickup: July 9th
Duration: 2 years
VAC: Ikeja

I can remember when I was filling the form I came across a lot of obstacle like me spending more than 2 months of my disposable income, also in my previous application I claimed I dont know anybody in the UK but I filled my aunty's information on my passenger's locator form but was detected at the port of entry so in the renewal of my visa application form I had to fill her name and passport number as my relative in the UK but I won't be staying with her when I visit the UK.

Lo and behold my application only took 11 working days and 2 years visa was issued.

I was refused on this grounds I don’t even know what to do next, can I reapply? What am I supposed to do right, please someone help me out

Its very simple and straightforward, take your time to calculate your monthly expenditure on your statement of account and compare with what you filled in your form. Ensure it tally.

In a situation where it varies use the highest figure. Thats how I handle mine.

Sharing this here on behalf of a friend:

Submission: 17/May/2021
Ready for collection: 3/June/2021
Picked up: No visa & no rejection email
Called UKVI on the 7/June/2021
Called back by the High Commission to return passport.

Went back with passport:8/June/2021

Visa granted.

Putting this out here because when he had the issue it was a bit difficult to find much information on similar cases online. Hopefully this helps someone in the future.

i have seen a 3 times disposable before... however this was after his 2nd abi 3rd visa. There is no one size fits all.
I noticed if they want to close their eye to it they will but if they need to deny based on this, they will greatly wield this out.
Logically in these times where one is somewhat compelled to have an initial 10 day period for quarantine, this greatly increases d travel duration and worse still increases travel expenses. I believe they are aware of this bcus for some months now in the refusals i hve seen, i hve not seen very many mentions of ‘spending more than 2 times disposable income’

Thank you so much. I'm thinking of increasing my expenses to 1050£. Hope it will be reasonable enough or should I stick to £990 ?

I understand but I feel it's better you just state that you have lost contact with her as opposed to giving her number without her consent.

You don't need to have someone in the UK to apply for a tourist visa so adding her details or not doesn't in any way strengthen your application. It might make the ECO understand your situation better but since you aren't staying in her place and perhaps she doesn't even know you are applying for a visa, I don't think it's a good idea to add her number. My opinion though.

Thanks so much, that's exactly what I will do.

That's not proper as you don't have her consent to share those details especially if it's not requested.

That's fine then. I don't really think it would affect you. I don't think it's standard practice to look up an applicant's previous visa applications unless ofcourse they smell a rat. But again what do I know?

The best I will do is to give them her telephone number. tho, I'm going to manchester and she lives in Dartford.

If you are close to the date of your biometrics it means you have submitted your application. No? What then did you fill in?

If she's not picking then perhaps you shouldn't have answered yes to the question

Have not submitted, I filled that i can't contact her.

Will this have any implication on my application considering the fact that I declared that I will be staying at her place at the POE in my last visit, which wasn't on my application.

Can someone please advice me on what to do, my aunty has not been picking her calls for sometime now.
What can I do in this case because I need to fill her passport number in my application even tho am not going to stay with her. I'm almost close to the date of my biometrics.
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by Sanmigbola: 11:47am On Jun 03, 2021
I never had the intention of doing that....but my main concern is can I spend 2 and half months of my disposable income for my vacation and also my monthly expenses reduced from 45k to 40k. Can i stick to 45k I used in my previous application or the new 40k ?

Isolating in a hostel kind of defeats the purpose doesn’t it?.Living with strangers and use of shared living areas, kitchen and bathrooms. So even if he has or knows someone who has don’t do it.
If money is an issue for you downgrade from a hotel to a bed and breakfast.
Let’s do things right.

Every standard visit visa application is 50-50 but I don’t think your experience at the port of entry would significantly affect your future visa applications just make sure now they know you have a family member in the uk, for them to allow you into the Uk and didn’t hold on to your passport that you will get it when you are exiting the country shows they are satisfied with whatever explanation you gave them and you have done the right thing by not overstaying which would make them see you as a genuine visitor.
I have been stopped at the Heathrow airport before and delayed for over 8 hours, my fingerprints were taken and I was interviewed by 2 different Immigration officers but at last they apologised and I was allowed in the following year I applied and I was granted.
What I did was close to yours, I made contradictory statement about me coming to the UK to perform at the notthinhill carnival and they said if was performing I needed a different category of visa not a visit visa but I explained to them that it wasn’t a paid performance I just want to be with few Nigerians and entertain them.
The immigration officer asked me a very tricky question that what if I was offered money for the performance just to cover my ticket fee what will I do, I told him I want accept it because if I did that it means I have worked in the UK and my visa does not permit me to do that.

Thanks so much bro
All I will do is declare it in my next application.

giselle237:

in my opinion it was not necessary. All this hassle for a distant relation.
U already told them in the application u had no relation or friend in the uk and were going to stay in a hotel.
This was ur first application right?
U submitted evidence of this, hotel and all and on those grounds u were issued the visa having satisfied the visa officer especially on grounds of finances.
Time of travel, u got to port of entry and changed to u were going to stay with ur distant relation- aunt now.
That u just reconnected after 10 years.
they kept quiet and let u come in.
Yes u have not done wrong, but holistically this may or may not marr your next chances.. i believe in 1st impression matters. It was ur 1st visa which u began complicating for no just cause. U could have come into the country and gone to ur hotel and visited ur distant relation later.
Did u decide to go reside with her to save costs?? If yes this is a different picture of your circumstances which you had presented initially.
If it was your 2nd visa or 2nd visit yeh i wont be bothered, but not first visa and first visit- it begs the question of what truly were your intentions.

In my humble opinion, my opinion ooh.. I am not a guru, but this is a 50-50 thing for you and can swing in any direction.

I am also of the opinion that deep down u are bothered by these two conflicting stories that is why you have continued to drag on the question in 20 different ways—- again could it be that u also think same way?

If not, several ppl have told u what to fill in, you keep coming from diff angles as if to reiterate that you might have done wrong.
Once again, these views are only mine and not of a visa officer and I might be goddamn wrong.

Wish u the best.

Going to the hotel wouldn't have been a good choice for me because unkown to me london entered tier 5 lockdown that same day.
Some people who used hotel were deported because hotel had to shutdown that day. So I was just lucky in my own case.
Like you said its a 50:50 thing but all the same thanks so much.

I honestly don't see how you could have been denied a visa based on the details you shared here but again that's your experience and I have no right to question that.

There are so many reasons why an individual would answer NO to having a relation in the UK and answer YES on a later date. Based on that information alone it doesn't provide enough ground to deny an applicant's visa.

Based on personal experience OP doesn't have to answer YES if it isn't an immediate family member but again that's my own personal opinion.

Even at the POE she was called and our statement didn't contradict, so they had to let me go after apologising for the delay.
