DANZAK:
Good morning, wonderful mamas in the house. I have been so upset this past few days.
Some weeks back my DS started reducing the number of times he sucks, ie, he cries if I put him to breast sometimes. At times he sucks one side of the breast and rejects d other side out rightly.
Later, he refused to suck any time I come back from work which is usually BTW 5:30 to 6:00pm but takes the expressed bm with bottle during the day, only to suck all thru the nite.
Now, since Saturday night, he has refused to suck at all both in the day and at note but takes the bm from feeding bottle.
The problem now is that my bm production has reduced drastically. In fact I can't even get up to 50ml when I come back from work.
The baby is my first after several years of TTC and it breaks my heart that I can't even breast feed him to my satisfaction.
I really need mamas that has had such experience to tell me how they handled the situation and all mamas that have any ideas should pls help me out hear.
Sorry dear. Maybe the nipples are sore/bitter. Try washing it gently with water and clean with coconut oil.
Well, DS rejected nipple at 6weeks and I was advised to co sleep with him at night in bare chest so the smell of the milk would appeal him to suck in his unconscious state of mind. Alas, it worked for me and we dropped bottle.

Peradventure he's still rejecting after you've tried to lure him, pls let him have the bottle. Either through bottle or direct, what's important is the feeding of the breast milk while you bond with him through caring and playing with him.

It's too early for mashed/lumpy solids at 6 months plus. Puréed food is what's recommended.

Potatoes (Irish or sweet) are excellent but combine with either mixed vegetable (depending on your choice though) and chicken or both.

You have to try different varieties and not stick to the same recipe. My rule of thumb for any combo I prepare is that three areas must be covered - carbohydrate, protein and most importantly vegetables.

For example, this week might be Irish/chicken/green peas, next might be sweet potatoes/beef/mixed veg, following week might be both, etc. With time, you will find out the combo he enjoys the most as he will end up having a favourite.

You have to be careful with fruits because if it's too much, it could result in loose or frequent stools.
pls how do you make the chicken and beef. I tried it ones but the blender could make it to pureed form and that made ds to throw up

Hello mamas, I salute o. we've missed trend cuties a lot but will soon show up.
pls what's the best cream to use for baby.
At hospital where I gave birth, they forced us to buy all the cussion baby products only to use ori, coconut oil and black soad for baby for 1st bath.
March is 8months but haven't used the products. If people ask what cream he's using and I say ori, they will condemn it to fault.
Pls what are mamas using o.

OK. I just got over it this Sunday. it infected my baby first then the house.
What I use for baby. I dap warm water on cotton wool to clean ds and a drop of breast milk by the cornea now and then.
As for the adults, we went further to use potato overnight. just place it on the affected eye and sleep. when you wake up in the middle of the night, cut another and place. Magic. the swelling will be gone and eye cleared.

From my own experience, how old is ur DS, u can be putting breast milk in the eyes regularly it shd clear off after some days... That is what I use when my dad had it when she was 2 weeks.. Hth
Thanks, he's 7months plus. Have Google the breastmilk method and many sites support it. So I use warm warm to clean the discharge and a drop of breastmilk at the eye corner. It's clearing up gradually but mine is not.

AlphaHandMaiden:

Just keep the eye (s) clean.

Wipe with moistened cotton wool/ pads.

Dip cotton wool in some warm water and wipe one eye per cotton wool.
Wipe from inner to outer, once and discard the cotton wool after each wipe.

If it is a big piece of cotton wool you can fold once and wipe the same eye from inner to outer then discard.
Wash your hands before and after wiping the eyes and regularlly

Also try to stop him scratching or rubbing his eyes..... now that is the hard part. Also try to wipe his hands as often as you can to keep it clean.

If he has recently had a cold, it could also be a factor as the cold virus can actually cause conjuctivitis if it gets into the eyes.

He may also have a temperature so have some infant paracetamol on hand and use only if required.
It should clear after a few days.

If you dont see any improvement after about 3 or so says please go See your doctor.
Oh thanks. it's quite helpful

Good evening mothers. Mil is fond of opening windows throughout. I've pleaded but said she can't sleep in heat. We always visit one weekend every month. Dh said I should be covering Ds up and so I did but mosquitoes still managed to bite his face all over. Showed mil but said he was reacting to something and I left her place without saying anything.
I've decided to be taking mosquito net with me as I can't do without her.
Now ds is having temperature. Went to pharmacy and bought maxiquine syrup. I used it this morning and now. Pls is 2.5ml okay for 6months baby? I forgot to ask the pharmacist and no prescription dosage for baby on the leaflet.

I can't fail to thank Onegai, nazablossom, comtem2011, cutiereborn, rofemiguwa, dexterush, tyconcepts for the mention and all our likers. May we eat the fruits of our labour ijn. God bless you all

I've been lazy to type. After reading all the new pages, I'd doze off while typing just like now thatI'm feeling sleepy.

It's my habit to share what I learnt at clinic.
Has anyone heard of Guinea Worm Disease? It's that bad as hospitals promise to offer N25,000 to anyone who tells them the whereabout of the patient.

There's a new immunization to prevent puemonia. The injection is in 3bases and the infant ought to take it before one year birthday.

Also informed that babies under one year old not to take salt, honey and custard. Powder not to be applied on baby under 6months, vitamin C and multivitamin syrup not to be given before 6months. Only vitamin D syrup and exclusive breastfeeding till 6months.

Please who can link me up with some one who can supply me with fenugreek and saseme seeds or any other thing that can help me lactate well. ...
I beg !!!
RELAX madam. if you're stressed, you won't produce. Most women have gone through it and still achieved 6months exclusive. At first month, I experienced the challenge but kept feeding lo some minutes interval. Don't feel like a failure, it shall pass. Good thing you are seeking help. The quality of breastmilk is predetermined during pregnancy. All you need to do is take more fluid, vegetables and eat beans. Yes. Beans helps to produce more milk. Got to know via Google

Please HELP me. Don't jump and pass oo. Breastfeeding has been a terrible experience for me
1. late milk production: milk came in drops on d third day after we had started on formula
2. Low milk production: I am drunk on pap and tea likewise
3. Sore nipples
And my baby can suck for Africa.
Egbami, what do I do?
I'm depressed
At first, I was discouraged but with determination, I scaled through.
If you've purposed to exclusively breastfeed, you need to be patient. 0p
Bm supplies in proportion to demand. Keep feeding till lo sucks emptied as much as possible. You can also use breastfeeding pills to boost production.
As for the sore ni.pples, rub it with coconut oil before and after nursing. Don't clean/scrub your nipples before or after nursing. The milk on the nipp.es will cure the soreness. Just clean your nipp.es during your bath routine morning and night. You can Google on that

In other news,
I came closer to reality more today. embarassed For the first time in my life I had to open legs wide up for a man with so big fingers who wasn't about to bring me any form of pleasure! At first i felt embarassed sef. Mama's wey dey give birth stories, you people haff not been try for us ooo first time mum's ..to tell us that this Vaginal examination is not same thing as dH fingering ooo.
Even sight of delivery suit sef , dey like butcher house! Too many instruments and knives sad sad .
My VJay no just gree for my gynae. I was restless. How can you be trying to use such big hands to touch my womb opening angry sad. angry . Naso I go dey close legs after some seconds. He wasn't even telling me sorry. Chai....

But one question I will like to ask God if I see him would be, why did he make babies to come out in a place that is meant to be so private when 3different people will chook hands in your private place like no mans business? Why didn't our tummies just open up and release a baby when its time and close back immediately?

My sister, that's it o. You remind me of the DnC experience. For the first time, I felt ashamed being with a man and three other nurses. Those "iron rod" placed in between vj was meme. I was shifting up when he put his hand. In fact, I frustrated him that they had to give me injection to pass out.
Then the birth day, I didn't even mind. The pain took away the shyness.

I'll like to join okota axis as I stay in ejigbo. how much are we contributing.

Chaulay1 pls take it easy on yourself. that's what your help thinks but you still remain the mother and that tide can't be broken. Besides, your kids are still young and you have to work.
Go out with your them during weekends and play games at home. Then you have to caution your maid and set it straight. No one is indispensable.
When is your leave? Plan it with your kids and let the maid stay at home.
Concerning church activities, limit it till your baby is 1year

I came earlier to open thread cuties but couldn't post.
And all those likers of the buhaha, well done.
Really we need to adjust this thread. So much traffic here while there's 'go slow' on babies thread.
I bring the idea that all newly mothers should move to babies thread for their birth stories as an entry to the thread, nursing discussion, even thread cuties should be moved too.
Let only pregnancy related issue and advice stay here.

We say NO to drama and online offences.

The latest development is the army crawl. It funny to see him throw tantrum when he's attempting to crawl forward to get his toys but finds himself crawling backwards.

Gud day mamas , saw this and i dont knw how true it is http://www.stylecraze.com/articles/proven-health-benefits-of-lime-juice-for-pregnant-women/?spa_post=235214
don't take it if you're not in third trimester and should be mixed with honey.
That was the culprit that caused my 3months miscarriage or let me just blame my oversabi, no, Google instead. Despite my mil warning me against it, I defended that Google said lime juice can ease morning sickness.
When morning sickness stopped, I thought I achieved my sim not knowing the fetus heartbeat stopped therefore no baby. When I took in again, I was always looking forward to morning sickness as assurance but if I didn't feel anything, I'd be worried.
Thank God sha, all na story today

Sugah enjoy the diaper. I used the diaper gift up to 3month and always changing like 4-6 times once one got wet. Good thing was it came in different sizes.
One recently dashed me 94pcs diaper for 3-8kg but my baby is 5months at 10kg and uses size 4. E pain me but have to give it out. Still enjoying the detergent I received and will even last more than a year.
simababe play along o. I reason with you on money matter sha. The painful part is one will be given what is already available or what's inferior especially clothes. My baby only wears those clothes at home.
