Travel / Writing ACCA For Express Entry?? Lets Meet Here! by 79733139(m): 2:58pm On Jan 08
ACCA - Association of Chartered Certified Accountants

Just like the other threads on cima and BCS, this thread is for people who need an extra certificate/qualification to add to their bachelor's degree and thus, be able to choose the "Two or more degree option". Depending on your current CRS score, this gives you an extra 30+ points.

Although I have no background in accounting, I have beginner knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping and having gone through the syllabus, I strongly believe that I can pass the exams after 3 months of studying (I officially started studying on the 1st of January, 2024).

You don't need to have a background in accounting to be eligible to take the exams, you only need a bachelor's degree.

The exam is officially called the ACCA Applied Knowledge exams and it is 3-paper exam + an online course that must be completed. I have all the study materials for the 3 exams plus video lessons (Kaplan for the books and OpenTuition for the videos). If you want them, send me a Whatsapp message (my phone number is included both in my signature and on my profile page).

The three exams are: Business and Technology (BT), Management Accounting (MA) and Financial Accounting (FA). There is an online course on professional ethics that you must complete to get the certificate.

Registration is £99 (99 pounds sterling), while the cost of each paper is based on the centre where you take the exams. In 2023, it costs N101,930 per exam at British Council where the exams are conducted each month.

For more details about the exams check accaglobal.com

Basic recommended procedure:
***************************
1.) Register with ACCA for the ACCA Applied Knowledge exams on accaglobal.com. The fee is £99. You pay online with a dollar Mastercard or Visa card.

2.) Send your credentials to ACCA. you'll get the email to send it after registration

3.) Study for your exams (contact me if you want study materials)

4.) Exam registration is N101,930 per exam at British Council. Exam is electronic, you choose a convenient month when you are ready (there are two other places to sit for the exam asides British Council, I will include them later).

5.) You will get your results immediately after you have finished the exams, however you still need to complete an online course which is about professional ethics. The pass mark is 50%. The questions are mostly multiple-choice answers and some data-entry answers (just like the writing test of IELTS).

6.) You're to take the BT, MA, FA exams in addition to completing the online course on professional ethics in order to get the ACCA Applied Knowledge certificate which you'll evaluate with WES.

I will add other details to this thread. I am currently studying the Business and Technology study text by Kaplan.

On a daily basis, I will try my best to post the study questions that I write while studying so that you would understand the material better, e.g., Q1.) What is SWOT analysis? - page 56 [When you read the question, then you go to the page to read and answer the question - it is very effective for these kinds of exams].

I got an invitation to apply (ITA) on 29 February 2024,so I had to stop studying for the exams. Wishing anyone reading this success in the exams.

Hello, sorry for bothering if this question has already been answered. I only have a bachelor's degree and I know that ACCA is accepted for "2 or more certicates" in express entry, however I just want to know if I only need to do the ACCA Applied Knowledge exams to be able to get an additional certificate to my bachelor's degree (is it accepted or do I also need to do the ACCA Applied Skills exams also?)
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by Mizshawnblaze: 7:36pm On Jan 29, 2023
Hello. I already uploaded my CIIN certificate on WES portal. Do I still need to send my transcript to WES? Thank you in anticipation of your swift response.

Prettiepearlz:

Your result is okay, you maxed all except reading where an 8.0 would have given you maximum point in Language. You can use other experiences provided it’s eligible under express entry, it doesn’t have to be related with your current field as you need 3 years experience for your points to make sense but on a second thought, your current job will be 3 years by January so that’s not much of a problem and I think it would suffice.

The most important thing here is your education, a short course that can be evaluated positively by Wes like ACCA, BCS, cima, CIIN, CIPM etc is what you need to claim two or more certificates and boost your scores to 460s to 470s region.

Hi I wanted to know if anyone used cima as a degree option in Canada express entry alongside their bsc. I dont want to write these exams for nothing lol. And my score is so low. How many points would that give me. Even though I'm 25 with a bsc and ielts I still end up with 350 as score points. Please advise me on what to do

Ego12345:
Please i have just BSc qualification but i am thinking of getting an online certification in HR as i have a relatively working knowledge of it. Is it possible to get qualify for the express entry and what type of certification can i do that will be accepted? Will it be evaluated by WES as two or more certificate when i send my credentials for evaluation?

Pls see options of certifications people have done that allowed them to claim 2 degrees on page 1...CIPM, ACCA, BCS, cima etc

I first started my Canada journey by wanting to go through FSW express entry. I was already in the process and trying to boast my points for ITA. But because of the hold on FSW I had to look for an alternative, and I found nairaland and this wonderful thread. Then I started seeing people's testimonies about working with frankrobbn, immediately I told myself I was going to use him to package my application, since it's a situation of throwing all eggs in a basket. I also got amazing friends from this platform (Donald's im waiting for your own ppr lol and Dami tanks for guiding me) that helped me through it all.
Also my mum was my sponsor and I work for her.
indeed this thread is great and very useful.
PS: If you are looking for an agent do not hesitate to contact Frankrobbn (F&Rglobal) to help you package your application,it is tested and trusted.lol
I sent mails to Abuja and Nairobi from Jan 5th,4 daily. Got some generic response but I kept sending, even went as far as ordering notes. I won't be needing it anymore grin

Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Worker Program - Connect Here Part 11 by GraciousWords: 12:13pm On Nov 01, 2021

POST 5

SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION (eAPR)

If you accept the ITA, and are applying for permanent residence, these checklists HERE & HERE are good guides, containing everything from what IRCC wants to see in the Work Reference letter to what docs you should submit to claim sibling points etc.

Read how IRCC assesses your express entry/Federal Skilled Worker application HERE.

Also read the express entry section of the Immigration Act HERE.

Some people say you don't need to submit your IELTS and ECA reports once you have update the reference numbers on your profile. Well, the Immigration Act actually requires us to provide the ECA and IELTS reports with our applications (paragraphs R75(2)(d) and (e)), and some applicants have been rejected for omitting them, see HERE. You already have it in electronic form, so please scan the IELTS and ECA reports in the Education placeholder along with your degree certificates. PNP folks should submit Schedule 4: Economic Classes - Provincial Nominee and their Nomination certificate.

Be sure to click on the question mark (?) on the eAPR forms for further details about IRCC’s questions and how to respond to them.

Some requirements include:

- PROVINCE YOU WANT TO RESIDE IN/QUEBEC: do not select Quebec as your province of choice, your application WILL BE REJECTED. Beware!!! Quebec runs their own skilled workers program. FSW is designed for those planning to live in ANY province EXCEPT Quebec. If in doubt, read this judicial case HERE.

- APPLICATION FEES: Read HERE

- PROOF OF FUNDS (POF): You must show that you have enough money to settle in Canada. POF can't be borrowed. Funds must be readily available. If your spouse is coming with you, you can count money you have together in a joint account. You may be able to count money in an account under spouse's name only, but you must prove you have access to the money. The amount of money you need to support your family depends on the size of your family. For POF purposes, your family includes: yourself, your spouse/partner, your dependent children and your spouse’s dependent children, if any (INCLUDING NON ACCOMPANYING).

*Read more about POF HERE

*Everything you need to know about Gift Deed is HERE

- MEDICALS: Your family includes: yourself, your spouse/partner, your dependent children and your spouse’s dependent children, if any (INCLUDING NON ACCOMPANYING). Your family must undergo a medical test conducted by a doctor on the list of IRCC designated panel physicians, you can’t just go to any hospital. Q-life (Lagos) and IOM (Lagos and Abuja) are currently the only 2 clinics in Nigeria for IRCC medicals. Read more about medicals HERE. See HERE for IRCC approved panel physicians available in your country of residence, wherever that may be.

- POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATES (PCC): Police certificates are mandatory for each country (except Canada) where an individual has spent six months or more in a row within the last 10 years or since the age of 18. PCCs are required for the Principal Applicant, spouse and dependent children - your children, your spouse's children who are 18 years of age or older (INCLUDING NON ACCOMPANYING).

Read more about police certificates and how to get one for each country HERE.

PCC is a common reason for rejected FSW applications, along with NOC mismatch, so just spend some time reading the IRCC website to save yourself heartache over something so simple and so comparatively cheap!

*For the applicant’s current country of residence, the police certificate must have been issued no more than six months before the submission of the e-APR. For countries in which the applicant no longer resides, the police certificate must have been issued AFTER the last time the applicant lived in that country. In this link, IRCC suggest you get a PCC for several/frequent short stays (e.g. 4 months) in the same country over a period. To get PCC for Nigeria, when abroad, read HERE

*Ensure you carefully check the IRCC requirement for the country you are getting a PCC for, as some also require additional docs like a driving licence. Scan your PCC in colour NOT black & white.

If you evaluate/complete an online course like cima, ACCA, BCS, indicate "distance learning" in CAPs, in bracket after your education and update location as your country of residence during course otherwise the system may automatically require a UK PCC.

- BIOMETRICS: You and your dependents (including children above the age of 14), should schedule an appointment online with your closest Visa Application Center (VAC) when instructed by IRCC. You need to give your biometrics, even if you gave them in the last 10 years. As of June 14, 2023, IRCC is resuming biometrics collection for all permanent residence applicants. There are two VACs in Nigeria - Abuja and Lagos. Read more about biometrics HERE

- SKILLED WORK EXPERIENCE REFERENCE LETTER: It is NOT advisable to write a work reference letter by yourself, it's better for your supervisor or colleague to write one if the employer/HR won’t (include a copy of the person's ID and call card). Ensure that your reference letter contains a job description that matches (1) the lead statement, (2) ALL the essential duties and (3) MOST of the main duties listed on your chosen NOC, in addition to all the other requirements (hours of work, pay etc).

Do not, I repeat, do not submit a PR application WITHOUT a reference letter containing your duties and other details required by IRCC - see the first link on this post for the checklist showing exactly what IRCC wants to see in that letter!

Read HERE to find out how to choose your NOC and check the 2021 NOC TEER category (0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5) of your work experience.

NOC website is HERE, it contains the lead statement and duties for all NOCs. Read a strategy for getting your reference letter HERE

Read HERE to see how to match your job description to your NOC.

*You only need to indicate jobs/NOCs you are claiming CRS points for in your work history (provided you are at 67 and above in terms of eligibility points without the others jobs/NOCs). Meaning, if you have 67 and above eligibility points with your 3 years work experience, then only provide references for the 3 years work experience and update everything else in personal history post ITA. Personal history only shows up AFTER ITA, it must have ALL activities in the last 10 years INCLUDING your work history (so this will look like you are updating work history activity twice). YOU DO NOT NEED TO PROVIDE PROOF OR DOCUMENTS FOR THINGS IN YOUR PERSONAL HISTORY THAT YOU ARE NOT CLAIMING CRS POINTS FOR.

You do not need to include your spouse's non-Canadian work experience in their work history, just add it to personal history, spouse's non-Canadian work experience adds zero points to the CRS. Only add their education to education history if they have an ECA, otherwise add to their personal history as well.

**NOC mismatch is a common reason for rejected FSW applications. Your job DESCRIPTION (i.e. the tasks you performed) must match your NOC.

Your job TITLE does NOT need to match the NOC job titles. It is your JOB DESCRIPTION not your University degree that the Visa Officer will match to your chosen NOC. DO NOT COPY AND PASTE THE NOC DUTIES AS YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION.

Lastly, those managerial NOC’s starting with 0 are for bosses, ensure you are an oga and your duties show that before choosing them. One rejection story had a youth corper/recent graduate claiming this, it didn’t end well.**
Read the story HERE

NOC is so important that this person changed hers post AOR when she realised she had made an error, read HERE

Didn't create my express entry profile until when my cima evaluation was complete, have changed the 3 years bachelors to the option with one year certificate?

Some people have reported experiencing delays in profile updates recently, that might be the issue you're facing.

Thank you. It was a delay in update. It's been updated now.

Hi guys, my WES evaluation just came back and it was positive (Bachelors degree and cima was evaluated as a 'college level certificate - one year').

Wrote my final BA exam in August and immediately contacted cima to send my transcript and letter of good standing to WES but I suspected they only sent the transcript cos the update on my profile only mentioned the transcript. I moved on to focus on getting my undergraduate transcript sent to WES and it eventually got to WES on the 27th of November and my profile was updated accordingly. Reading Pashe777's story last week prompted me to reach out to cima for a letter of good standing to be sent to me which I then uploaded using the 'upload documents' section and my profile was updated again last week friday with two entries under cima. Just logged into my WES profile this evening and saw the evaluation report.

Please how did you update your express entry profile to increase your scores? Mine isn't changing.

Money isn't the only issue when it comes to immigrating to Canada. With your HND, you would need to take IELTS, add a certificate (like cima) and maybe do TEF Canada (a French exam) to get enough points be able to go via express entry.

If you are motivated and determined to leave Nigeria, then you have a very good chance of relocating to Canada. Read through the express entry thread for all the details.

Nice do u know how much dis exams will cause.

Note: Don't deal with any of those so-called agents, or else, you would lose all your money.

My cima Story

I started reading about express entry last year after I met someone who had gotten his COPR and was leaving the next month. I had only a BSc. and he explained that I would need an additional certificate. He recommended NACETEM, but I started researching on my own and realised there were other options. cima and BCS seemed the shortest options at that time and I won’t have to worry about the Nigerian school system affecting it. I researched about both and promptly opted for cima(though the cost was going to be more) because that computer thing eh......naaaa.

While researching, I stumbled on this thread, thank you @Perra for starting it, it helped me know I wasn’t alone on this journey....and you had a science degree like me. @dexterousOne and @subalinga really gingered me with their progress reports.

With a BSc. in Medical Sciences(no accounting background), I knew it would involve a lot of work and reading but I said, shebi na book, we go read am(I never expected B2 wahala). I started scanning through the materials on Ashranti as recommended by people on the thread (easy to understand) but the notes were quite bulky!!! This was November 2019, with the plan to take at least 2 papers before 2020...but work and life didn’t give me time to read.

I officially started reading (Ashranti) in January 2020, registered on the site and paid for B1. Took and passed B1 in the last week of January. On to B2.....I wanted to take them in order even though I had read that B2 was the toughest!

That B2 eh.....I saw shege, B2 had its own special timeline o. Registered a little over 2 weeks later(Feb) and sat for the exam. Failed cry!!...91!! I encouraged myself to retake but the pain was much, time which wasn’t so available and money had been wasted. Paid for it again 2 weeks after, .....and failed again!... Though this time I scored better, 97! But still not up to 100(pass mark). At this point I decided to take a break and reconsider my decision, I knew I had understood the material better the 2nd time I wrote the exam(I’m sure i had read that Ashranti material front to back like 7 times!) than the 1st time I wrote it. I also wished I had someone to at least explain a few things to me, because that B2 was like German.

While on a break from the exam, Covid 19 happened, I had more time and cima announced that online exams will start in May, so I started studying. So in May, I registered for B2 again, took the exam at home and guess what? I FAILED AGAIN!! cry90 something. At this point, I couldn’t believe it anymore, I had studied for that exam more than needed and yet! If the scores were really low, I guess I may have felt better but 3 times I was short of between 3 to 9 marks! So I decided I was done ...no more waste of time and money. I stayed on that decision for some days till I couldn’t find the answer for my future self when I wonder why I gave up. I changed my mind and decided to write one last time. I remembered that in the last exam I didn’t know some answers because I had never seen them in the notes, and my science background cannot know accounting! Someone on the thread has said Kaplan materials were good, someone even posted a link to download sometime ago...I downloaded them. Oh boy!, I thought Ashranti materials were bulky....that Kaplan was a trailer load. I started reading Kaplan and I saw the answers to the questions I didn’t know in the previous exam. I read for about 2 weeks (day and night) and registered again. The last time I had booked my online exam for 10pm, this time I did 8am, I wanted everything fresh in my head...lol. This time God showed up for me...the dance no be small....107! Finally!!!! grin

B3 and B4 were the easiest for me and had the highest scores too (B3 especially). B3 in June and B4 in July. I had earlier evaluated my BSc. so I paid WES for another credential and sent cima an email to send transcripts and letter of good standing to WES. They responded 2 days later and sent to WES some days after. Evaluation was ready as one year college diploma 3/4 days after cima sent to them (I didn’t have to send certificate to WES, I believe the letter of good standing was what WES used)

This thread has been really helpful, thank you to everyone that answered questions or shared their progress, materials, how to fill WES form and all. God bless you.

I hope this encourages everyone especially those with no accounting background...It’s possible if you decide to get it done, and truth is, it may be way easier for you than it was for me!

May the rest of our journey be easy and smooth. And may the odds be in our favour.

Good day, please kindly reply your PM. I sent you a message

Please any information atall from those who have written or are about to write would be useful.

** Success/pass rate?

** How long does it take to get the certificate from them? Any hassle with Wes verification?

Wow, I envy your perseverance. Congrats

BTW, is BCS also evaluated by WES? Can you share your email address/phone number. I'd like some more insights from you.

I love your resilience!

This story gave me heart attack o, wow! This is what I call perseverance. Congrats dear! So I think that means Kaplan did the job for u in b2 and also was it Kaplan you used for b3 and b4?

For the start date, I made use of the date I registered and for the end date, I used the date on my certificate. And for the field requiring you to put in the number of years,
put as it is on your WES report which will be one year for you. Hope this helps.
doxame:
If I may ask, please what start date and end date would you use for your cima qualification on the express entry profile. Especially since the date of your registration till exam date is not up to a year. Thank you
