Running a warehouse facility is a huge responsibility, especially if the facility is crucial to the supply chain and production of goods. Taking inventory is one of the most complex tasks when managing a warehouse, but things have come a long way since the days of using clipboards and a pen to take inventory. Inventory visibility and control have gotten more traction with the fusion of technology in the inventory process, which has led to inventory automation. The use of barcodes and labels for inventory tracking has improved warehousing operations. But, radio frequency identification (RFID) has become one of the fastest-growing technologies for inventory control, a massive game-changer for warehouse operations. RFID is a wireless technology that uses radio-frequency electromagnetic fields to transfer data. RFID uses tags and labels to scan and locate items remotely. These tags or labels are encoded with unique identifiers and are equipped with a tiny wireless radio transmitter that communicates to RFID readers. Whether the readers are handheld or fixed devices does not matter, it still sends signals to the tag or label from up to 30 feet away. This new state-of-the-art technology is essential to warehouse operations and takes inventory automation to a new level for the following reasons. Enhances Inventory Control RFID readers and antennas can be placed in strategic locations inside a warehouse to automatically read RFID tags or labels as they pass the reader. This means RFID readers can scan an entire case or pallet of goods in a few seconds and also know their location within a few feet. With the RFID readers, you know the products or materials in stock and how many you need to maintain and replenish in the warehouse. Improves Inventory Accuracy RFID reduces human error in tagging and cataloging. Each tag contains a unique ID that will be read and matched to a database with an automated process, so there would be no chance of a mismatch or a typical mistake. Unlike barcode-based inventory, which relies heavily on workers never making mistakes, forgetting a scan or scanning the wrong barcode causes inaccuracies. An RFID reader raises inventory accuracy within a warehouse. Reduces Labor Cost Warehouses require a large staff to keep up with inventory, especially large warehouses. But, the RFID reader will help to reduce labor costs as it shrinks inventory cycle count times, improves receiving time for goods, and hastens the location of goods within the warehouse. Automating the warehouse using RFID technology will reduce overall operating costs and improve service delivery within the supply chain. More Data Management An RFID tag can store more data and information than barcodes which you can use to potentially track items and gain more significant insights into each item without manual data entry. More information also has natural benefits for tracing products and keeping consumers and other supply chain partners informed about the warehouse's new product shipping and offerings. Automation is good for efficiency, especially in warehouse operations, where managers need to be abreast of their current inventories faster and more accurately. James Arthur Gosling – Java James Arthur Gosling was born on May 19, 1955. He is a Canadian computer scientist who is best known as the founder and lead designer behind the Java programming language. Java is a general-purpose computer programming language. It is class-based and object-oriented. It is specifically designed to have as few implement nation dependencies as possible. C++ – Bjarne Stroustrup Bjarne Stroustrup was born on December 30, 1950. He is a Danish computer scientist who created and developed the widely used C++ programming language. Stroustrup is a visiting professor at Columbia University and a Managing Director in Morgan Stanley New York. C++ first appeared in 1985. It is a general- purpose programming language that has imperative, object-oriented and generic programming features. It also provides facilities for low-level memory. Dennis Richie – C If you saw C on a report card, you’d be pretty bummed. Maybe a bit confused, too (is it actually a B-?). However, C is not the bizarrely bad grade it seems to be. It’s often the first programming language taught in college (well, it was for me 10 years ago). I thought it was a nice “in-between” language in that it was object oriented without having to be fanatical about it. It was also low level enough to be close to hardware, but no so low level that you had to do everything manually. Because there are so many C compilers, you can write stuff in C and have it run pretty much anywhere. C is a general-purpose and imperative computer programming language designed by Dennis Ritchie. Dennis MacAlistair Ritchie was born on September 9, 1941, and died on October 12, 2011, at the age of 70 years old. Guido van Rossum – Python Python, designed by Guido van Rossum of cwi, is a general-purpose, high-level programming language, whose design philosophy emphasizes code readability. Its syntax is said to be clear and expressive. In the United States, Python has mostly replaced Java at the academic level. Students have started learning to program using Python instead of C or Java, unlike the previous generation. Python is used extensively in web application development, software development, and information security. Brendan Eich – JavaScript JavaScript first appeared on December 4, 1995. It is a high-level, interpreted programming language developed by Brendan Eich. JavaScript is also characterized as dynamic, weakly typed, prototype-based and multi-paradigm. Brendan Eich was born on July 4, 1961. He is the American technologist who developed JS. He also co-founded the Mozilla project, Mozilla Foundation, and Mozilla Corporation. He was then served as the Mozilla Corporation’s chief technical officer and briefly its chief executive officer. Rasmus Lerdorf – PHP No matter how much you hate PHP, which stands for Personal Home Page, you just can’t ignore the fact that half of the internet is running on this wonderful internet language. PHP was originally created by Rasmus Lerdorf in 1995. The main implementation of PHP is now produced by The PHP Group and serves as the formal reference to the PHP language. PHP was a competitor to Microsoft’s Active Server Pages (ASP) server-side script engine and similar languages, e.g. Java Server Pages (JSP), but gradually received acceptance and is now installed on more than 20 million Web sites and one million Web servers. It is also open source and used by Internet giants such as Facebook, Wikipedia, WordPress, and Joomla. PHP is used extensively to build dynamic web pages and server-side development. Larry Wall – Perl Perl is a high-level, general-purpose, interpreted, dynamic programming language. Designed and developed by Larry Wall in the mid-1980s, Perl rose to fame due to its excellent text processing capability. It is still the main language used to develop reports and scripts on UNIX systems. Perl is known for parsing and processing large text files and is used in CGI, database applications, network programming, and graphics programming. Perl is also used extensively by companies like IMDB, Amazon, and Priceline. Yukihiro Matsumoto – Rugby Ruby was developed by Yukihiro “Matz” Matsumoto, a computer scientist and software programmer. It is an object-oriented, general-purpose programming language that was developed in the mid-1990s in Japan. Matz was born on the 14th day of April 1965. Matsumoto is the Chief Architect of Ruby at Heroku as of 2011. It is an online cloud platform-as-a-service in San Francisco. Niklaus Wirth – Pascal Pascal is an influential imperative and procedural programming language designed from 1968–1969 and published in 1970 by Niklaus Wirth as a small and efficient language intended to encourage good programming practices using structured programming and data structuring. John McCarthy – Lisp Lisp, which stands for List Processor, was developed by John McCarthy and is the second-oldest high-level programming language. I have never tried Lisp, but it’s said to be the father of functional programming languages like Haskell, Erlang or Scala. It is mostly used for AL development and air defense systems. Reverend Joseph Ayoade Adekunle, the Oyo State Chairman of the Christian Welfare Initiative (cwi), has advised President Muhammadu Buhari against seeking relection in 2019. Adekunle anchored his call on the President’s “inability to take firm decisions,” stressing that the issues regarding corruption were swept under the carpet. The cleric spoke while fielding questions from newsmen after a prayer session, organised by the Ona-Ara Local Government Area chapter of the cwi in Oyo State, at God Loving Church, Ifelodun, Olunloyo Area, Ibadan, yesterday. Adekunle, however, commended Buhari’s “good intentions of trying to put the country on the steady path of development.” He said, “There is nothing Buhari can do to win back the hearts of many Nigerians. So, the best thing for him is to forget the ambition and leave the stage when the ovation is loudest.” This is coming at a time when former President, Olusegun Obasanjo had advised Buhari against seeking re-election in 2019 election due to the failure of the government. SENIOR DRILLING ENGINEER/DRILLING SUPERVISOR (DSV) Basic Job Functions • Establish and maintain HSE plans to execute drilling and completion/well intervention operations in accordance with GOAL Zero. Accountable for the investigation of incidents and compliance with the Shell incident management requirements. • Identifying, initiating and implementing Technical Limit Drilling activities in the detailed planning and execution phases of assigned well projects (Best Practices screening, DWOP, Pre-spud, well section reviews and briefings of rig team and contractors). • Budget and Cost Control, cost management, reporting in accordance with internal reporting requirements for wells. • Ensuring that rig team generates the required reports, including the End Of Well Report (EOWR) to record performance and ensuring that learning points are captured and documented. • Ensuring input of learning into systems/databases, and reviews at regular intervals with other senior WE staff to identify and embed current best practices and standards to be applied. Minimum Requirement • Graduate/HTS/HND in a relevant engineering or science discipline. • 10 years or more experience in Well Engineering. Proven experience in field operations (as DSV), and in well planning and/or operations engineering. • cwi Round I and Round II or equivalent trade test • Strong contract management, business sense, cost awareness and a commitment to the HSEMS process. TOOLPUSHER Basic Job Functions • Conduct table top evaluation of drilling rig, rental and well equipment tenders. • Provide Rig and Well Equipment Qualification and Inspection services. • Manage the execution of the contracts through timely delivery of PR’s, PO’s and subsequent payment through SAP. Follow up with semi-annual Business Performance Reviews (BPR’s). • Monitor and report on drilling operations progress against objectives and key performance indicators. Ensure, in cooperation with Senior Wells/Completions Engineer, that the wells documentation is live and up to date. Minimum Requirement • Bachelor of Science Degree or HND in Engineering or Science. • Minimum 10 years Well Engineering experience with at least 3 years in Inspection and equipment qualification • Knowledge of industry standards related to drilling equipment. • Computer literacy WELL COMPLETION SUPERVISOR Basic Job Functions • Lead the offshore Completions and Interventions team during execution of the work on the rig. • Mentor Junior Staff and provide them with the necessary skills to carry out completion and workover activities safely and proficiently. • Work with the Drilling Supervisor to optimise the work schedule • Monitor and report on completion and workover operations progress against objectives and key performance indicators.
