Science/Technology / Whatsapp New Feature To Allows Users Send And Receive Messages Without Phone by SeeHim: 12:42pm On Jul 16, 2021 |
Update From . COM Whatsapp has now released a new feature that has been the talk of the tech community for a long time, Reports. According to Facebook engineers, the new feature would allow for the hugely popular service be used on multiple “non-phone” devices without needing to connect to the smartphone app. The makers have confirmed that this feature will be released as a beta version and it will be circulated only to a small group of users. This is because the makers want to identify and fix all the minor bugs and issues that could show up while using this new feature. WhatsApp’s main feature, end-to-end encryption will also be available while using this feature. Facebook engineers suggested that the software design of WhatsApp needs a complete change. They say this because the app is currently using a smartphone app as the primary device. This makes the phone the source of truth for all user data and the only device capable of end-to-end encrypting messages for another user or initiating calls. And the content shown on WhatsApp Web is basically a mirror image of the phone app. A blog post shared by Facebook engineers on Wednesday July 14, read; “With this new capability, you can now use WhatsApp on your phone and up to four other non-phone devices simultaneously – even if your phone battery is dead." WhatsApp can already be used on “companion devices,” such as computers, but exchanges are routed in such a way that if a person’s smartphone is offline or has zero battery, it won’t work. “The new WhatsApp multi-device architecture removes these hurdles” by no longer requiring a smartphone to perform every operation, the company said. Whatsapp Engineers also made assurances that WhatsApp’s security measures will still work under the new system. It added; “Each companion device will connect to your WhatsApp independently while maintaining the same level of privacy and security through end-to-end encryption that people who use WhatsApp have come to expect.” Source: WHAT'S APP COMPANY

Education / SSANU And NASU Suspend Strike by SeeHim: 10:31am On Feb 26, 2021 |
Update From . COM A Joint Action Committee of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) have suspended its three-week-old strike. President of SSANU, Mohammed Ibrahim Haruna, and the NASU General Secretary, Peters Adeyemi said the new directive became effective from midnight of Friday, February 26. The Unions which had asked its members to commence an indefinite strike over an alleged injustice on sharing formula of N40bn Earned Allowance and non-payment minimum wage arrears, inconsistencies in the implementation of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), delay in renegotiation of FG/NASU and SSANU 2009 agreement, non-payment of retirement benefits of outgone members among others called off the strike after a meeting with a delegation of the Federal Government led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige on Thursday February 25. Adeyemi who addressed newsmen after the meeting said; “We had 8 items that we negotiated, and which form the basis for our ongoing national strike. Our members in our various campuses in the universities and inter-universities centres had appraised the draft MoU and then raised the few observations, but they granted us the mandate that if we are able to meet with the government which we have been able to do today and if the leadership is satisfied, we can go ahead and suspend the strike. “So, we have held the meeting with the government side and those areas that needed to be harmonized has been harmonized to the satisfaction of both parties and resulting from that development, we have agreed that the ongoing national strike in universities and inter-university centres should be suspended with effect from 12 midnight tomorrow which is Friday 26, February. “We use this opportunity to appreciate our members for their commitment in these struggles, this strike is suspended and we are not mindful of the fact that we will continue to monitor the agreements that has been reached which has timeline and we hope that the FG we implement his own side of the bargain. “If the FG doesn’t, we have no reason to call our members to resume the suspended strike but for now, the strike is suspended with effect from 12 midnight of tomorrow February 26.” The Minister of labour, Chris Ngige on the other hand said; “Today’s deliberations have been very fruitful, we have also issued a conciliation document called Joint Action Memorandum of Action (MoA), and the two unions will get back to their members today and in good faith, have promised that they will speak to the government before the end of tomorrow. “So, we keep our fingers crossed, believing that their communications with their union members will be as quick and swift as they have promised us. “This is more so, as government is desirous that normal activities should return to the University system so that we can take the action one after the other. With the normalcy restored in the university system, we intend to do the visitation panel which is one of the agreements reached with them and which cannot be carried out without normalcy in the university system."
