For a moment, I thought your concern is a clash: your PGCE presentation and an interview (possibly for a job) falling on the same day. Seems not.
amanze54:
Hi all, I have an upcoming PGCE presentation on an interview day. This is an interview for teacher training for one year. The subject is physics. Honestly I love physics. But my interest is also on the funding available for those willing to be trained as physics teacher. Now my major problem is my African intonation, infact Igbo intonation. I have been adjusting it with little improvement. ... ...
There's no need for adjustment(s). Simply be yourself. Speak slowly, calmly and intelligently.
This from part 2, of this thread, might be worthwhile
Estroller:
Actually, this will compound the problem. Just pronounce your words clearly and aim to speak slowly. We often times don't know we speak so fast, so being self conscious about it will help and overtime you'll perfectly adjust. Abeg no just try form any accent o. All the best.
Below from other forum might be helpful.
utepu:
... ...
Don’t try to force or change your accent while communicating. The more you change or force British accent the more you make communication difficult for everyone. Speak gently and clearly, believe me, they will hear you more than faking British accent. And if you can’t hear them, in a polite way ask them to speak slowly and gently so you can understand & they would be glad to do so.
... ...
DoxxAnon:
... ..., he would begin this attempt at speaking what he felt was British accent. You would see him contorting his face and twisting his tongue and spending 10 seconds to say what he would ordinarily finish in 5 seconds. I would get so frustrated and [b]just speak clearly to the person and they’d get it.
Day 1- they arrive
Day 2- “ you alraiiiii”, “how are you, enneeee (init)”, “ you got heny shange…. enneeee”

Seemly, this part 3 started on a 'noisy' note. Nonetheless, we shall continue to read passively and make inputs when need be.
To all the emphatic empathy, emotive, gaslighting, subtle and covert bullying etc, at times, actually most times, otitọ koro, truth is bitter. Candidness is practically lost in this days of rights, entitled entitlement, feelings. Especially, at a age where, merely saying I feel offended by what you say or look, is accepted as me being in the wrong in the office or school!

Be it as it may, in all your postings, be outcome/solution oriented, with empathy and forthrightness!

One will note the 'emphasis' on Tier 4 and Tier 2!! in the 'article'
The reality is that the conditions of Tier 2 ain't same as Skilled Worker, nor those of Tier 4 the same as Student visa.
For noting, YouKay Gov does not list student visa as one of the restricted visa type for switching to Skilled Worker. https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa/switch-to-this-visa

... ... This long writeup particularly applies to ENGLAND. To teach in England, a person is required to have a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a Qualified Teacher Learning & Skills (QTLS).
The QTS is more prestigious/respected than the QTLS (just like BSc is better respected than HND in Naija). So getting the QTS or QTLS is the pathway into teaching. These are the 5 main routes into teaching.

Coupled with that is their intrusive poking into finance, and even your employment status. Not that we can blame them completely knowing the depth of deceit/fraud in most applications.
They should just simplify their process/requirement like the YouKay.
Nonetheless, Ireland post study ILEP program for outstrips the YouKay PSW
Zejunjo:

Ireland schools policy of 100percent payment of tuition fees upfront now scares people away from applying to Ireland.

Your credit record is 'technically' a proxy of your 'ability to pay'. A sort of forward appraisal and guesstimating your ability to pay 'debts'.
Can less than 1yr get a mortgage, yes you can.
- very low LTV
- 5yrs Skilled Worker visa
- fulltime job (in reputable coy)
Would it be a walk in the park. Nope. Most require a residency of at least 2yrs!
Do your research and research again. Be resolute, doggedly so and keep working at it.
elengine:
... ... Can someone with less than 1 Yr in uk apply for mortgage? He is on a dependent skilled worker visa and has a full time job in one of the multinational coys here.
Do I have to build my credit history or bank will be satisfied with my ability to pay looking at my current earning.
Thank you
Below and others from the thread might assist. Possibly.

RE: FTB: So in the YouKay, who's a FTB:
On the first post, apparently FTB condition spans across the UK. So, I'll be editing
semmyk:
🏘️🏚️🏠
FTB: First time buyer is the place person(s) buying a property for the first time. (S)he has not owned a property before or deed register(ed) in their name, whole or in part (in the UK) anywhere (globally)
...

Pointers on who is or who isn't FTB: Well, interesting ethics, moral, etiquette, 'wise', sharpguy times ahead. Keep calm and invest!
Home Owners Alliance (HOA) is emphatic, not mincing words ... Who counts as a first-time buyer?
Link: ... To qualify as a first-time buyer in the taxman’s eyes you must never have owned, or had an interest in, a residential property in the UK or overseas. This includes both freehold and leasehold property

First Time Buyer Help goes the taxman approach in their FTB definition
Link: ... criteria to claim First Time Buyer status for Stamp Duty Land Tax relief ... “In order to count as a first time buyer, a purchaser must not, either alone or with others, have previously acquired a major interest in a dwelling or an equivalent interest in land situated anywhere in the world.”. See HMRC one page doc.
HM 'money helper' puts it is simple term i.t.o. mortgage ... "A person is generally classified as a first-time-buyer if they’re buying their only or main residence, and have never owned a freehold or have a leasehold interest in a residential property in the UK or abroad."

Interesting time ahead.
- Land owned on paper (with risk of ọmọ onilẹ).
- Land owned registered in State's deed office - CoA, CofO
- Land under development (fenced, or foundation, blocks raising, sil level, lintel level, roofing ...)
- Land with completed house rented out (through acquittance, agent, complex mgt, bnb, luxury accommodation...)
... ...
ProfJYK:

Shebi owning a peice of land back home doesn't qualify as House.
Or having an incomplete building project wey still dey pre-roofing stage.

PS: DoDirtsLikeWorm is not far off. The caseworker will consider a number of things, part of which are:
- has the children spend the required period: in the scenario given, yes
- Is the one parent eligible: in this instance, yes
- Does this one parent has full custody: in this instance, not so
- Is the other parent a dependant and applying for ILR along with the children: if so, process application
- Is the other parent a dependant and in the UK: if yes, ILR application can be considered for the children
NB: the ILR uses the wordings parents, one parent and both parents to differentiate or place emphasis
DoDirtsLikeWorm:
Not present. If one gets and the other have not gotten, the children cannot get.
It is stated somewhere in the HO site.
E.g: If a wife gets her visa & went with their kids and the husband maybe applies later after some months or year(s), after the first 5years the wife can apply for ILR-²- CITIZENSHIP, but the children would have to wait for the father to qualify and gets his own citizenship before they the children can be given.
PS: in the ordinary sense, citizenship require (existing) ILR. Invariably, ILR comes first, after which, citizenship can be applied for when conditions are met. So, yes ILR-2-CITIZENSHIP: ILR towards citizenship. Many apply as such. Why do double process when 2-in-1 is available!

For noting: extract from caseworker guidance (Registering children as British citizens) per Immigration Act 1981 (as amended)
Parent applying for citizenship
If a parent is applying for citizenship, and has included a child’s application with their application, the child may be entitled to registration under one of the previous entitlement provisions, even if the parent’s application is refused.

Parent applying for indefinite leave to remain or confirmation of permanent residence
It is possible that a parent may apply for indefinite leave to remain (ILR) either at the same time as applying for the registration of a child or before an application has been decided. In these circumstances, the parent’s application for ILR must be determined first as the outcome could affect the child’s registration application.

TUD required a minimum of O4 or H7 in Maths and OR or H7 in four other subjects including English/Irish
Pls take note of the new scoring system that started in 2017
- https://www.irishtimes.com/news/education/leaving-cert-2017-how-the-new-grading-system-works-1.3187662
See the images for points allocation based on marks.

However, these marks (and allocated points) are not applicable to WAEC/WASSCE.
A WAEC O/L still require additional study. A completed first year would suffice or going for a one year foundation in Ireland (or UK)
For TUD, the WAEC requirement is at this link.
PS: some of those school agents in Nigeria has insight of "the system" or which school are open to WAEC! Just ensure you deal with authentic agents and not these mushroom/quack/fake agents.

Eniola1010 is right. The longer one waits (to save up the deposit), the higher the house prices goes (well, ought to). Just like that Fela song about saving for the fan.
Ultimately, it's about putting a foot at the (property) ladder/door
@Deept, your point is valid. It's crucial for people to understand the higher the deposit, the less the total amount repaid (and possibility of negotiating lower mortgage rate). To reduce total amount repaid over the period, one can make a conscious effort to pay in 'extra' £ to the mortgage (of course, watching out for early settlement penalty, some refer to early repayment charge or early redemption charge especially if one is on fixed mortgage).
eniola1010:
I dont know if i am missing something. But why is everyone fighting for lenders giving as low as 5% deposit, that means lender will be giving u as much as 95% ltv. Do we understand that the lower ur deposit, the more you'll end up paying as interest and the longer you will pay interest?
Why arent we fighting to have enough cash to pay deposit, so we can pay as much as 30% deposit?
[Edit] I see @Ticha just explain early repayment. A good take that links it to 'surplus'. Thanks ma.

In that instance, your coursemate will have to put in word during the department/faculty grad committee session. Obviously, your application must be water tight as it should be. You may also want to have formal email correspondences between you and your coursemate about potential interest in a research field/subfield. Pls, keep it professional (as you would any other prospective Prof). You may have your other informal exchanges.

It is 3.51/5.0 that is 2.1 second class upper.

So he says if the department screens and found out that I'm eligible then he can accept. So I wanted to ask if a 2.1 can be eligible thank you
