Education / How Parents Can Help Their Children In Mathematics by sesantek: 8:03am On Jun 16, 2007
From experience i have come to understand that parents can become math doctor to their children. It is a pity that most parents are not actually doing this. They leave this duty totally in the hands of teachers.
The truth is that you can actually help your child in math-even it you are not math inclined.
Parents can always perform routine check on their childrens note. They can also have on a constant basis useful math discussions with their children. They can also have regularly useful chats with the teacher.
Parents can do a lot. You can see all you can do to help your child in math from this package at sesantek@getresponse.com

Education / Foundational Problems In Mathematics by sesantek: 3:00am On Jun 16, 2007
I have observed over the years how foundational problems in maths have caused so many students to perform poorly in maths in nigerian schools.
Most students can not even use the BODMAS rule very well - even students in higher classes.
It is a big problem since we all know that if the foundation be destroyed what can the righteous do.

If you have a child who is in a higher class and he or she is not doing very well in maths, it is high time you spoke to the math teacher in school.Tell him or her to watch out for those common mistakes which are always as a result of their weak foundation.

Education / Mathematics - A Monster To Students by sesantek: 2:48am On Jun 16, 2007
Mathematics is constantly becoming a monster to students all over the world.I have been teaching the subject for sometime now and i have observed how students become helpless as a result of the threat posed by the subject. In as much as i believe we dont have much qualified math teachers in our schools now a days, i still believe student need to do more in terms of their study habits and attitude towards the subject.
Parents also have a great role to play.
Lasting solution can be found if we all put our heads together to solve the problem or what do you all think should be the solution

Education / Re: Should I Go Back For My HND Programme? by sesantek: 3:51pm On Mar 28, 2007
hi,
my simple advice is that you should go ahead and do whatever you want to do.nigeian government are not stable with their policies.Even if they scrap it, they will have to do something about those already offering the programme.so, have no fear.

Education / The Roles Of Teachers, Parents And Students In Maths Teaching/learning by sesantek: 3:44pm On Mar 28, 2007
THE ROLE SOF PARENTS,TEACHERS AND STUDENTS IN TEACHING AND LEARNING OF MATHS
Thanks for the opprtunity to post in this forum.I am a maths teacher.I have come to understand how bad the attitude of students are towards the subject.I know something has to be done to check the situation. Techers have to do more to psyche the students. Most students live on the story they have heard aboput the subject and this makes them to loose interest in the subject and as a result they will not be able to give their best. Also parents have a role to play too no matter their level of education.

Students must also play important roles to better thier own lots.I am working on a project that will address some of these problems and a i am sure most of the solutions will come from my personal experience in class as a maths teacher

Education / Re: About Your Primary Or Secondary School In Nigeria by sesantek: 1:19pm On Mar 20, 2007
The low level performance of students in mathematics calls for concern.reports from the relevant authority shows csomething has to be done immediately. As a maths teacher for so many years now, i understand the problem has to be tackled right from the basics-the early stage of a childs life. Most student go into secondray school having a very terrible foundation in the subject and has a result they struggle throughout high school. We really have to do something about this to correct the situation.I am presently working on aproject that will address the problem.I hope to reveal this in due course.
