This year has indeed being a big one for
Nigerian star artiste; Davido as he was
nominated for lots of international awards.

He however seems not to be getting any wins,
except of course the BET awards.
Davido was nominated for best African act at
the MTV EMA, but he lost it to Kenyan artiste;
Sauti Sol and he was also nominated for the
MOBO awards under the category of the best
African act but he lost it to Fuse ODG.

This time around, the Soul Train Awards
which was held on Friday saw Davido losing
yet another award under the category of best
international performance. He lost out to
Machel Montano’s “Ministry of Road
(M.O.R.)”.

The good thing is that he was the only African
that was nominated under that category. We
just hope he will be able to bring home an
award soon.

Following the killing of 47 students in his
state today by Boko haram members, the
Governor of Yobe state, Ibrahim Gaidam says
that President Jonathan has some explanation to give to the Northern region over the increased attacks by the militants.

The governor said this in a statement issued
through his Special Adviser on Press Affairs
and Information, Abdullahi Bego.

“This morning, our state woke up to a very
sad and heart-breaking news of a bomb
attack on our young students at Government
Comprehensive School, Potiskum, in which
no fewer than 35 students were killed and
many more injured.

The thoughts of His Excellency, Governor
Ibrahim Gaidam and his prayers are with the
parents, teachers and families of the innocent
victims of this callous and reprehensible
attack.

The governor is heartbroken and words
cannot adequately convey the extent of his
remorse and sadness.

The governor has noted that this is the fifth
time in a little over one year when our
schools in Yobe State were brutally attacked
and students killed.

There was Government Secondary School,
Damaturu; Government Secondary School
Mamudo; College of Agriculture, Gujba;
Federal Government College, Buni-Yadi; and
now Government Comprehensive School,
Potiskum.

Governor Gaidam deeply regrets that all of
these dastardly attacks took place under a
climate of Emergency Rule declared in Yobe,
Borno and Adamawa States by President
Goodluck Jonathan.

In theory, the Emergency Rule Declaration
was a signal that more vigorous steps would
be taken to protect the lives and property of
people in the affected states and deploy the
full might of the federal government to
restore peace and security.

Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha on
Monday in Enugu declared his intention to
contest in next year’s presidential election,
saying his victory had been prophesied.

“In 2015 I will be the president of the
country,” Okorocha declared to loud cheers
from broom-wielding members of the All
Progressives Congress at a rally attended by
prominent members of the party in the
South-East.

The governor, who spoke in Igbo and English
languages, said his emergence as the
country’s president after the 2015 polls
would surprise many, particularly the ruling
Peoples Democratic Party.

Okorocha, whose speech was punctuated
with exclamations of “my people, my
people,” said the APC presidential ticket was
never zoned to the North.

He said, “Three months ago when I said I
want to be president they asked, ‘Can an
Igboman be president’?

“But now when they count those contesting
for president they will first count Rochas
Okorocha, before Buhari, Atiku Abubakar
and Kwankwaso.

When they said they have zoned the
presidency to the North, I asked, “When was
the meeting held?”

“Now we have zoned it to Igboland. In 2015,
there will be a turnaround in the fortunes of
Ndigbo.”
Recalling the s*****e bombing at a school in
Yobe State earlier on Monday, in which
several students died, Okorocha said that the
PDP had failed God.

He said Igbo had been neglected by President
Goodluck Jonathan such that no Igbo man is
currently occupying any prominent position
in the country.

He also accused prominent Igbo PDP
politicians of not caring about the well being
of Igbo.
“They only know themselves; they don’t care
about Igbo. APC is an emergency party for a
new Nigeria; I would not have joined APC if
PDP was doing well. We will defeat PDP in
2015,” he declared.

Okorocha stressed that he had the resources
to realise his ambition, noting that he was
richer than his rivals in the PDP.

Meet the Okoda rider, who was paid a
miserable sum of N5,000 to kill a three weeks
old baby, by the baby’s father, Moses Joseph,
a Nigerian Navy officer, attached to Amuwo
Odofin, to forcibly take the baby from her
mother, which he threw into the lagoon.

According to the prosecution witness,
Inspector Simeon Kunamon, Moses organised
some thugs on February 2, 2012, to steal the
baby from the mother and deliver to him at
Liverpool, where she was thrown into the
lagoon in a peak milk cartoon, adding that
the deceased baby’s body could not be
recovered, Vanguard reports.

All these started, Gloria Yusuf, the baby’s
told Moses, her lover of one year, that she
was pregnant, but Moses asked her to
terminate the pregnancy, which she refused –
Therefore, she packed out of their house, and
rented an apartment at Ajegunle, until she
gave birth on January 13, 2012, to a baby girl
she named Princess Happiness Moses, which
was killed on February 2, 2012, at about
1a.m., four weeks after the father of the baby
paid her a visit.

Two persons were feared dead and 20 others
injured in a stampede at the entrance of
Akwa Ibom International Stadium on Friday
during its inauguration.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports
that crowd control was a difficult task in
spite of the road blocks mounted some
kilometres away from the stadium.

Although the spectators got tickets to enable
them access the 30, 000 capacity stadium, the
crowd started thronging the stadium about
five hours ahead of the scheduled time for
the match.

Confirming the incident, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Emem Bassey, told NAN that two unconscious persons were taken to an undisclosed hospital.

“I was told that two persons have been taken
to the hospital; these are perhaps people who
were fighting at the gate in their bid to enter
the stadium,” Dr. Bassey said.

He said that the third unconscious person, a
woman, was revived in the stadium and had
started talking.

“It should be expected; this is the first time
this is happening, everybody is excited,
everybody wants to enter the stadium.
“We have 150 medical personnel in this place
and eight ambulances. All our medical teams
are up and doing and all the clinics are
manned,” Mr. Bassey said.

NAN reports that the security operatives at
some check points were using horse whips
and teargas to control the crowd.
Contacted, the state Commissioner of Police,
Isaac Achong, however said, “there was no
stampede, there was only crowd control. We
are only controlling the crowd entering the
stadium.”

When told that journalists at the stadium
reported a stampede, he said, “I’m not
aware” and terminated the call.

Who would not forgive her?

Two days ago, it was reported by a
Kenyan online publication that not only
had Wizkid been arrested for smoking
weed in a Nairobi hotel, but he had also
had to be bailed out by Kenyan singer
Victoria Kimani whom they referred to as
his “Kenyan flame”.

Wizkid has now reacted the report, via his
manager Seun Johnson who spoke to
YNaija Johnson said,
Nothing of such happened. It is all
rumour, rumors keep churning out
everyday, it didn’t happen.

The publication also alleged that the
arrest caused Wizkid to miss his flight
back to Lagos on Saturday Oct. 25th when
the incident allegedly occurred, however a
source on the “supposed cancelled” flight
with Wizkid told Ynaija “I was on that
same flight with him, he didn’t cancel any
flight, it was only delayed. He was on that
flight which left Nairobi at about 4pm.”

The National Working Committee (NWC)
on Wednesday, October 29, advised Ondo
Governor Olusegun Mimiko to respect
Labour Party (LP) constitution and resign
from office within 21 days.
Mimiko who was elected into office as LP
candidate left the party and joined the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
As The Nation reports, LP’s commettee
took the decision after a meeting in Abuja.
A statement issued by the LP National
Publicity Secretary, Ikpe Etokudo, says:
“The NWC came to the inevitable
conclusion that the constitution of the
republic and provision of relevant section
of the electoral laws must be respected by
Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and his new party –
the PDP.
“The case of Dr. Boroffice who was
elected as a Senator on the platform of
our party but defected to the All
Progressives Congress (APC) was cited.
The NWC reminded Dr. Mimiko that he
was so incensed by Boroffice’s action that
he advised the party to approached the
court for justice.
According to the statement, the NWC
warned all those concerned to take the
path of honour immediately or should
expect to defend their deliberate raping of
the constitution of the country within next
21 days in court as well as be ready to
face the wrath of workers of Ondo State in
particular and the nation in general.
