Vavavoom:

Sleak, I agree with your case-by-case treatment analysis but the question is should we or shouldn't we pay?  Are you saying, yes we should but moderately?
pay if u must.
if you feel d lady's family is unresonable with their demand(s),take a walk.
Politics / Re: Nigeria's Economy May Out Grow South Africa's Economy By 2012 - Sanusi by sleak(m): 1:57pm On Oct 28, 2009
i pray dey can meet the 6000mw by jan 2010.it would atleast,if not anything, show dat the government can meet a set target.
however, they should be reminded that the country he is predicting to surpass is generating about 40000MW now n is already working towards doubling this so as to further drive its economy.

i think whats important here is moderation on the part of the families.some might be quick to throw the culture/tradition line, what stops us from discontinuing or modifying practices that have lost relevance or r not applicable in its entirety in present situations.they were propounded by some people who deemed it fit at the time.
jacob paying bride price was the jewish culture at the time.r jewish men still required to work for 7 years as shepards tending to the sheep of their would be father in law?

this is such a joke.if not for sharia, would av said he was high on some eclectic liquor.
Nigeria is still struggling with provision of adequate power to its citizenry, little or no motorable roads, the list of infrastructural decay goes on,he is talking about aving a bigger economy than a country dat produces in a significantly large percentage most of what it uses in 2 years, as someone rightly said, naija is atmosphere for miracle n that dude is the G.O. he would soon recommend 2 years of dry fast n rigoous prayer session as the main economic plan to c us achieve this VISION grin grin grin

Health / Re: NMA Faults Government On Treatment Of Gunshot Victims by sleak(m): 1:15pm On Oct 22, 2009
"doctors should treat patients without worrying about who pays",doctors are callous ,they are this n that n what not, shakes head in disgust.
loads of you guys av got no clue as to what you r talking about.patients come to the hospital with one form of emergency or the other.they plead with you that they've got no money on dem that u should please treat them evoking all the prayer points known.the minute they r stable d tone changes.they either refuse to pay,run away or start debating your pricing with you.
when i was a junior doctor in one of the teaching hospital, myself and a lot of my colleagues dat i know of bore some medical bills we incured while on call because we acted first to treat patients who came in as emergencies with claims of no money on them.
experiencies change people.
i would say this again nothing will please a doctor more than to carry out his skill to the fullest without worrying about who pays the bill.
for completeness, the government should state clearly who covers the bill in such situations.
Health / Re: NMA Faults Government On Treatment Of Gunshot Victims by sleak(m): 4:01pm On Oct 21, 2009
No doctor should treat nybody gunshots or otherwise without them paying. cool
i plead with the jurors to ignore the above statement.it was made at the peak of annoyance.
nothing i believe gives a doctor more joy than to carry out his function of saving lives without worrying about the cost(i least i know).whoever is putting forward the law should address it completely.

Events / Re: Why Is The Wedding Ring Worn On The Fourth Finger? by sleak(m): 3:24pm On Oct 21, 2009
its not purely of christian origin.it was a tradition traced to the ancient egyptician.
the ring's endless circle symbolised eternal nature of the bond while the open center was doorway to things unknown.the greeks picked this up at some point in history, then the romans.the rest of d world at varying points of contact.guess the later converted christian greeks n romans passed it on
Events / Re: Why Is The Wedding Ring Worn On The Fourth Finger? by sleak(m): 2:47pm On Oct 21, 2009
there is no such thing as a single vein running directly from d fourth finger that returned blood directly to the heart.vena amoris was nothing more than d sentimental leaning of an individual which was propounded at a time little or nothing was understood about the circulatory system
TV/Movies / Re: Chimamanda's Book Picked For A Hollywood Movie by sleak(m): 2:57pm On Oct 16, 2009
I'd read a lot of materials on the war while growing up.my dad had boxes of magazines and newspaper publications just before the war, during n post war.books written by individuals on both sides of the divide n even foreign neutrals.however non could tell it ike chimamanda.she transports you to d war n u can almost relive it-the adulation n expectancy, pain n grief, humour in despair.
i hope,more like pray,they can do justice to the work.its a classic
Health / Re: We Perform Surgeries With Torch Lights - Doctors by sleak(m): 2:29pm On Oct 16, 2009
operating with the aid torchlights/rechargable lamps, candles n all by doctors especially in public service is very common.no thanks to the antics of PHCN.
some individuals av expressed varying degrees of emotion from despair to disbelief.others av placed the blame right at the feet of doctors-r they right?maybe.maybe the doctor shouldnt attend to dat patient dat needs a procedure done if there is no appropriate lightening or while in the middle of one,n power fails,we could just as well fail the patient.stop n tell d family that we had to stop cos there is no power.they should understand-shouldnt they?
operating with torchlights is just a tip of d decadence dat has plagued the health care delievery system of this country.
some of these stuff might b a little hard to comprehend, however a visit to d nearest public health facility could offer a better insight into the conditions in which doctors n our lovely nurses operate.
Politics / Re: Lagos Bans Hawking By Children During School Hours by sleak(m): 4:50pm On Nov 23, 2008
i believe this is a little step ,however, step in the right direction.these children should positioned to have access to quality education so they can at least av a fighting chance in life.
