AFCON vs. World Cup Qualification

Apparently, most people on the Space would take an AFCON trophy over World Cup qualification

Nah that queen lady dey talk that. I just weak. She made some nice input like amaju disturbing the team during the half time.

bro I don’t want to spill the girls fault because I myself do hv flaws as well. No one is perfect and even with her flaws I still made the move of going to her place to familiarize myself with her family

My fear is how almost everybody I hv told about my intentions advised and cried that I should back out. Even prophesies from 3 different men of God came and all were pointing at one direction which is negative

My bro I truly love this girl with all my heart but in a situation where friends and family who should be happy that I am about settling down instead are crying and begging me to back out it’s no good sign

Also as a man I hv been seeing the signs both physically and spiritually but hv been stubborn about it because I love this girl to a fault

I am an only son and my greatest fear is making mistakes when taking a life partner

It is hard to say . Take a walk! Brain over emotion.

Really?

It was after the moroc match. Yak was flown back to England by Portsmouth if I guess right. The trio sneak out of the camp after our first match...

means you’ve hardly followed the SE at major tournaments, is 2004 a joke to you? A tournament where we expelled our 2 best strikers (Agali, Aiyegbeni) plus one of the best LB (Celestine) in Africa just few days before our first game and didn’t even replace them

It was after the first game against morroco. Ended 1 nill.

Let's not think too far ahead of ourselves. My advice. wink

Be like Joebie... take it one game at a time in the group stage then we can begin assessing our chances from the first KO round.

The team has fine potentials but let's mix excitement with a little bit of caution.

And yes, thanks so much Sir Soetan. I appreciate the welcome. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU TOO AND TO EVERYONE JUST WALKING INTO THE THREAD AND SEEING I'M BACK. Great to see y'all.

Exactly, I'm just patiently waiting for the first two games. That's when one can really access the team. I hope and pray that coach Austin will work well with other coaching crew and not be an island of knowledge.

IDENNA, food don done oo.
Thesupernerd, superb analysis, you outdid yourself this time.
But one more question: don't you think that with our defensive frailties, a midfield trio of Ndidi - Nwakali - Aribo/Iwobi makes soft in the middle?

Sorry to jump in.

Our defense will need to stay together and have good understanding. That's the first job. Especially playing against high pressing team. Yes the middle if the trio can get easily overrun. Just the fact if just if Nwakali does not get it right in first 15mins of our game. Guess what? Ndidi will be overworked and aribo will get lost in the middle of the park.

All my analysis just for high pressing team.

The truth is that there is a clear discipline issue with a lot of these Nigerian players, and it is something that can happen where a young man begins to see large amounts of money early in life.

Not just money, but fame as well. So, they do not even think about the future, they want to bask in the here and now, especially when these things were unavailable to them prior to this new found fame

Now, this is where a strong support system is supposed to come in, to keep them grounded. The support system is supposed to come in form of older people who should know better and teach them to do better

The problem though, is that the support system for a lot of Nigerian players, is equally weak. They are feeding their support system, and when you are feeding people, especially in a country like Nigeria, the likelihood that those people will tell you hard truths is very low, because they will only want to curry favours from you.

I am certain that the like of Kelechi and co are feeding the older adults in their lives, and those ones are so heavily blinded with money that whatever it is they do, they will readily tell them they have done well. In an instance where someone is even bold enough to scold them, it will be light scolding, just so they don't offend their helpers.

Essentially, these three men, and many others like them, from the Nwakalis to the Chukwuezes, are being ruined by the fact that they are from the poverty capital of the world, and inculcation of discipline may be hard for people that are just looking for who will feed them.

Well said safari.!

Tonight for comedy!
What a comic relief for today's stress.

Those it really worth it? Names calling?
Bragging and pulling down syndrome.

Empty drums makes loudest noise. Men of substance do things on low key. After the insult what will it add to this thread?
It is better to have more friends than have more enemies.

The idea of ridiculing super eagles player to get at one another doesn't speak good of us...

Peace is the best answer not creating unnecessary fight and bully.

If the duo can keep the momentum good for eagles.

But I would have love Awoniyi on the bench coming in as a sub with another formation...after re watched Nigeria vs CAR second half i saw that synergy between Osimehn and Awoniyi, unfortunately we lost that match.

Exactly I saw that too however, they were both in camp during their under 17 days.

With a good coach both can be well utilized in either 352 or 442 formation.

So we have new partnership in 352 formation.

Thanks
