On-board diagnostics (OBD) is a term referring to a vehicle's self-diagnostic and reporting capability. OBD systems give the vehicle owner or repair technician access to the status of the various vehicle sub-systems. The amount of diagnostic information available via OBD has varied widely since its introduction in the early 1980s versions of on-board vehicle computers. Early versions of OBD would simply illuminate a malfunction indicator light if a problem was detected but would not provide any information as to the nature of the problem. Modern OBD implementations use a standardized digital communications port to provide real-time data in addition to a standardized series of diagnostic trouble codes, or DTCs, which allow a person to rapidly identify and remedy malfunctions within the vehicle.

All cars and light trucks built and sold in the United States after January 1, 1996 were required to be OBD II equipped. In general, this means all 1996 model year cars and light trucks are compliant, even if built in late 1995.

The OBD Port, is the location where you can plug in any OBD tool into the vehicle to pull vehicle information. It is also the primary location of tracking devices such as dongles as the port provides ongoing power to the device. There are two generations of OBD ports, OBD1 and OBD2

The location of OBD port varies as shown the images attached

If there are no such faults the diagnostics tools will not return those faults. The best you can do is to get a professional to fully repair your car. A stitch in time saves nine
