The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and key players in the power sector, including gas suppliers, electricity distribution and generation companies, among others, on Tuesday signed a N213 billion definitive agreement to begin the implementation of the CBN-Nigeria Electricity Market Stabilisation Facility (NEMSF).

This is expected to be followed by disbursement of funds and monitoring of the implementation of the agreements.

Speaking at the ceremony in Abuja, the CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, said the intervention would reset the economics of the power sector and address liquidity challenges occasioned by legacy debts and revenue shortfall in the sector.
He said all parties have had to make compromises in order to make progress in the interest of the country.

Emefiele however stated that in order to resolve the sectors liquidity challenge, the CBN was providing the facility aimed at settling legacy debts and shortfalls in revenue during the interim period and to also guarantee the take-off of the Transitional Electricity Market (TEM).

He disclosed that FBN Capital had been appointed by the CBN as transaction advisor for the intervention, while Meristem securities and Detail Solicitors and Stream Sowers & Kohn (SSK) have been appointed as fund managers and legal team respectively.

He said the facilities would be administered through deposit money banks, while a special purpose vehicle that complies with Section 31 of CBN Act 2007 would serve as an intermediary between the banks and the electricity market players.

The Lagos State Government has said it is determined to achieve its dream of becoming Africa’s model mega city by 2015.

It added that more private sector investments were being attracted to the state internationally and locally to create jobs and increase productivity.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Jamiu Dosunmu, in a statement on Tuesday, said the state Governor, Babatunde Fashola, made the statement during the celebration of the Lagos State Day at the just concluded International Trade Fair.

I just keep wondering why people have to still conceive the thoughts of stealing, not after seeing a whole lots of disgusting videos of what they do to people caught in such acts. These 2 Kenyan girls were caught stealing female sandals at someone's shop; one was busy confusing and deceiving the shop owner while her friend kept stocking some sandals inside their bags. But thank God for the victim's neighbour who had earlier noticed what was happening and kept quiet until they wanted to leave. He now called the girl to empty her bag, and behold! She had stolen more than 5pairs of some designers sandals from the man's shop. But trust me, it didn't end well at all... Justice must prevail! Watch the video for the full details, don't dull!

According to AFP: An explosion rocked a teacher training college in northwestern Nigeria as students were sitting exams on Wednesday, police and a student told AFP. Niger state police spokesman Ibrahim Gambari confirmed the blast at the Federal College of Education in Kontagora, while Mary Okafor said the explosion sent students fleeing as they sat tests. "At least 10 students were killed and several others injured. They have all been moved to the general hospital. We have all been asked to vacate the school," she said.

A singer by the name of Portah claims that pop act Sean Tizzle stole a chorus of his that was used in his hit song 'Perfect Gentleman'. Portah who is an Ibadan based act has come out to say he is the composer of the 'Perfect Gentleman' hook, but was not informed by Sean Tizzle or D'Tunes.

The upcoming act made this claim during an exclusive interview with THE NET. In the story, Portah recollects how he met D'Tunes in STAR FM in Ibadan when the producer and Sean Tizzle were making promo rounds for their hit single 'Sho Le'. According to Portah, D'Tunes recognized him as one of his BBM acquaintances in the past. After catching up with the budding singer, D'Tunes promised the Lead City undergraduate that he was going to sign him.
On January 2, 2014, D'Tunes called up Portah, told him to come to his studio and bring his songs along. The songs were 21 in total. On getting to the studio D'Tunes copied Portah's song from the two CDs he bought to his system. In Portah's narration of events, D'Tunes revealed to him that a friend of his based in the UK was interested in signing him, but wanted to use the producer as the front for the label. D'Tunes further told him that when his friend from the UK comes to Nigeria in a few months, the record deal will be made.

The producer later asked him if he was interested in writing for Sean Tizzle, and Portah said yes. Nothing however materialized from that because according to him D'Tunes didn't pick his calls or answer his texts after that day in the studio.

The leader of Bahamas Faith Ministries, Dr Myles Munroe, and his wife Ruth have been killed in a plane crash in Grand Bahama. According to the Bahamas Tribune, the crash took place Sunday afternoon and killed all nine people on board the private jet. The plane reportedly struck a crane at the Grand Bahama Ship Yard, exploding on impact and crashing into the ground near a junkyard area.

The Department of Civil Aviation reported that the plane was a Lear 36 executive jet which departed
the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) for the Grand Bahama International Airport. The plane left LPIA at 4.07pm with nine people on board and crashed while making an approach for landing at Grand Bahama International Airport at 5.10pm, the Department of Civil Aviation said.
