Culture / Wanted! Nigerians That Are Nigerians Indeed! by steven5: 3:31pm On Feb 03, 2009
Wanted! Nigerians that are nigerians indeed! Not an Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Igalla, Nupe, Efik, or whatever the tribe. Nigeria is in dire need of men, real men with a sense of patriotism and direction. We all identify with Obama, right? But when can a Yoruba man be at home in Kaduna, or an Igbo man win election in Abeokuta. I am looking for 100 men, not boys who have the nigerian Spirit - the never-say-die spirit that will make us a force to be reckoned with globally. Nigeria has all it takes, but the greatest bane of the nation is not corruption but tribalism and ethinicity.
If you are burdened for this land and you have a vision of a trully united Nigeria, where everyone feels at home, a nigeria the rest of the world would love to visit and invest in, then give me a shout in this forum! It's about time we changed the face of this nation. It's about time Nigerians youths realized that their forefathers and so-called rulers have given them no home by playing ethinic politics and perpertuation of mediocrity. Are you there? Give me a shout! sad sad sad

Can anyone tell me where to get a cheap and workable website and domain hosting that can be used for forums?
Politics / Re: Jos Killings How Do We Stop This Madness? by steven5: 3:05pm On Dec 01, 2008
If ever there were people on the face of the earth who know nothing but self-deciet, they are Nigerians. This is the only country in the world where lives are wasted on flimsy excuses. This is the only country in the world where imbeciles are in power and the wise hide in holes. This is the only country where everything is done to make the society inhabitable. No light, no water, no road, no safety, no everything. I love Nigerians, especially those who still have some measure of decorum and human pride left. The southerners should stop complaining and play the man. Too much talk and no action makes more being taken for granted. The other day it was Niger deltans killed by khaki boys, now it is religious pogrom. When will you Southerners learn? Evacuate and move to the South and let's see how the blood-thirsty thugs will manage without you.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Any Hope 4 3rd Classers by steven5: 6:05pm On Nov 23, 2008
YES. A capital yes. It is not the grade that puts food on your table. In the real world, degrees are useless without skills. What matters is not what you have as a degree but what you can do. I am assuring you that the beginning of success for you starts with believing that YOU CAN. There's hope.
What do you want out of life?
What are your skills?
Are you determined to succeed?
Are you willing to pay the price?
There are many defeated 1st classers out there who cannot make both ends meet. You are your future and your future is bright. I give you a challenge, if you want to be a success think like the successful, if you want to be a millionaire, think like a millionaire. thanks.
Webmasters / Re: What Is A Website? by steven5: 5:53pm On Nov 23, 2008
Friend, this is a good question. The word 'web' is linked to the maze of links that the spider spins to catch its prey. You know those days as a child we loved to watch helpless buterflies get caught in the mazy wirings of the spider. It struggles to get free but no, the master web spinner, the spider comes and cuts its arse open and sucks it up. If you have read Greek classics, or watched them dramatised, you will have a graphic picture of what a web is. Its a connection of points that leads away form where one is to another place even onto confusion.
Well a website, in computer parlance, is a 'house' built in a land in the world-wide-web which has information partaining to a given person, group of persons or organisations. A website is your business office. If you sell online, it could be you silent PRO, perfectly promoting your goods and services. I can multiply metaphors, but the bottom line is that a website is build and hosted on a domain akin to your buying a land at Mowe and building a house there. Note that the house is yours but the land is yours only for a given time. If at the expiration of government's 99 years lease you are not able to renew your lease, you lose the land and the house. So is the website. It is hosted on a given site for a given period of time. This is my contribution to the question, what is a website?.
Family / Re: Her Husband Wants Her Back Home! by steven5: 5:23pm On Nov 23, 2008
She should put her priorities right. Who says there is no job in Nigeria. If the husband cannot get employment, let him create one. If she is stiff scared of suffering here at home when she returns, then she has a choice - marriage or her comfort. Let the husband first get a good job or create one before she comes back home else, let him go and join her. He should see those travel managers who can guide him through visa application and source funds from relations except he is not credit worthy. Nigerians are good with such helps even if he has to reach agreement to pay back with interest, he should make some effort. Men he is the man, why live on a woman. think then man!
Politics / Re: Naval Officers Beat Up A Lady And Stripped Her - Watch Video by steven5: 5:12pm On Nov 23, 2008
Jungle is the word for Nigeria, a place where law and order has been sold to the highest bidder. The navy officer and his boys should be expunged and expelled from the force. they give the nigerian force a very bad image. One thought the navy are refined more than other forces. This is the jungle life, where might is right. Wishing the poor woman a speedy recovery from the trauma of being met by wild savage lions or leopard or what kind of beasts in khaki are they.
Politics / Re: Lagosians: Is Fashola The Expected Messiah? by steven5: 5:04pm On Nov 23, 2008
Don't messianize him yet. Lagos is still one of the dirtiest places in Nigeria. if you are a visitor to Lagos, you will notice that it stinks and is like an ant infested place. No place to rest, no space no peace. Let him be careful with the obnoxious KAI that take bribes without fear. Nothing to praise yet.
Sports / Re: Super Eagles Of Nigeria (0) Vs Columbia (1) by steven5: 4:58pm On Nov 23, 2008
It was a sure win for columbia but not a trouncing win. They managed to escape with a lone goal victory. Not too bad for old dear super eagles.
Politics / Re: Must The Nigerian Police Be Bribed For Everything? by steven5: 5:45pm On Nov 22, 2008
No qualms anymore. We are used to those necessary evils - the police and nepa or power holding, the enemies of the masses. Until decent people join the police, we should stop grumbling. because jobless rogues are in the majority in this force. moreover, how much does an average policeman earn that can put food on the table? So what do you expect?
Politics / Re: Lagos Bans Hawking By Children During School Hours by steven5: 5:25pm On Nov 22, 2008
Why not all the time? Hawking should be banned for all children of school age. Period. And all state govs should take cue from Lagos.
Health / Re: Doctors Say Marrow Transplant May Have Cured Aids by steven5: 2:37pm On Nov 22, 2008
That could well be the break through we have been looking for. At a time TB was deemed incurable but now the story is different. It's a matter of time, new cures would be discovered even as new diseases rear up their ugly heads.
Politics / Re: Nigeria's Economy Under Threat As Oil Falls Below $50 A Barrel by steven5: 1:31pm On Nov 22, 2008
That is the best thing that can happen to Naija. Let the oil prices fall to rock bottom. It will force out the wild, wild politicians that want to be in power by all means. It will create the right atmosphere for those who have stuff upstairs to be allowed to stir the affairs of the nation. This nation is seething with resources. I guess the garden of eden must have been located in Nigeria. Nigeria has all it takes to be greater than America, but we have the wrong kind of pilots on the saddle. We don't need oil to make it great. Let oil be gone and Nigeria will bounce back. I believe!
Religion / Re: Obedience and church work! by steven5: 1:00pm On Nov 22, 2008
If I get you correct, your Pastor has no consideration for your well-being and should be told exactly how you feel. On your part, it smacks of childishness bringing your parents into the picture. Be man enough to tell your pastor the bitter truth. You are not a full-time church worker but one who loves God and serves in his vineyard. If your Pstr gets annoyed and uses u to preach cos you did not run errands for him, he has some problems. God's work is a voluntary service and should not be forced upon anyone for whatever reason. In 2Cor.8:8, the Apostle appeals to the people to do somethings but not by command, also in verse 12, he says they should give according to their ability. It is obvious that your service is disturbing your study as such may be discontinued or reduced. The fact is that if you fail in your studies, you may never forgive your self to be an active worker in the church. So why not face your studies now and do a little here and there.

I remember a young man in our uni those days who prayed that exams would be postponed till after a weeklong church program he went for. God did not answer that prayer and he had an extra session. That is arrant , ! Your guess is as good as mine. Be a man.  cry
Business / Re: How Would You Raise Money For Christmas/Salah? Tell Us by steven5: 6:19pm On Nov 20, 2008
smiley that's easy, this is the seasons; a time people spend money like they are millionaires; a time ladies shop like the 'beentos'; a time boys and girls look up for new dresses; offices agog with baskets of gift items. There are a lot of things you can do. Sell some stuff, offer some services, help the needy, give to charity. Sure! Giving is a very profitable investment! Well sell recharge cards, do night browsings but not yahoo yahoo and other good good things sha. and you will get money.
Well if those bits don't work, try other humiliating methods like 'Excuse me gentleman, can I get N50 from you. I lost my wallet to pick pockets and I am going to Ojota'. You know them. There are so many of them in Lagos. Anyway, have a bountiful end of the year and chrismass celeb!
