Akin-Egba:

My Egba was never part of Oyo empire, may be yours was. Now stop derailing this thread with your usual infantile tribal rants

IgboBUIGBO = AKINEGBA I SAY shut up

The Egba nation originally under the Oyo empire became independent following the collapse of the Oyo empire in the first half of the 19th century. Tribal wars with the dahomey where the Egba were successful partly due to the protection afforded by the Olumo Rock led to the founding of the city of Abeokuta, which literally means "under the rock".

The Egba are made up of the following sub-divisions - the Ake, Owu, Okeona, Gbagura and Ibara, each with its own king. During colonial rule, the British appointed the Alake of Ake (king of Ake) as the paramount ruler and is therefore referred to often now as the Alake of Egbaland. The titles of the kings of the aforementioned sub-divisions are the Oshinle of Oke-Ona, the Alake of Egbaland, the Olowu of Owu, the Agura of Gbagura, and the Olubara of Ibara.

Whatever aid they get from the western world can come to Nigeria!

And, Biafra can move into that country, Ojukwu must have foreseen this, no wonder he fled to the country.

Kilode?!:

I don't trust the population figures myself, but I think it might not be too far from the 140M mark because the world Bank estimates goes far back into the 60s and they are now around that ball park figure. I'm wary of the World Bank too.

Can't wait for google to just do the counting from the sky   at least they do no evil grin

I think the census figures is right on the money

And there is about 1 million Nigerians in the US, legally residing there that are paying taxes, and about 3.5 mill in the UK, which were not counted. And there are numerous Nigerians all over the world, from China to India to Australia who were not counted as well. So I think the census figure might not be far from the real value, and any error/inflation or deflation is prolly within the SEM.

So the whole fertile ground explanation plus frequent boinking might actually explain it better.

tpia1:

open borders, large family size, lack of accurate census figures.

Open borders: Not necessarily, there are other African countries with open borders as well. Same with South American countries

Large Family Size: Again not quite unique to Nigeria. Also, by that reasoning population growth should be on the decline ( Like in Russia) since much of southern and part of northern Nigeria now have reduced family size secondary to improved health care, education, family planning, and more exposure to western lifestyle; on the contrary, population growth is rising and actual population number is going up as well.

Lack of accurate census figures: This answers the question somewhat, but not satisfactorily.

Nigerian mentality that having even # (4, 6, 8] of children makes their family closer together.

Polygamy: Almajiris and his twenty wives giving birth to 5 children each.

Igbo men and their want for football family.

Yoruba men and their promiscuity, leading to forced polygamy. Our teenagers that believe that tapping men with pregnancy will lead to love.

And then you have the accidental 1%.
