Science/Technology / What Will Humans Look Like In The Future? Some Possible Scenarios by Streetcurb: 8:42pm On May 15, 2017
Humans are constantly evolving. We may not notice it or even think much about it, but our bodies are changing.

This fact has made many wonder what humans will look like in the future. Scientists have come up with a number of possible scenarios, and some of our future appearances are truly grotesque, while others seem plausible.

Future Humans Will Be Taller

Over the last 150 years the average height of people in industrialized nations has increased approximately 10 centimeters (about four inches).

In 1880 the average American male was 5’7”. Today, he’s 5’10”. Humans are becoming taller and there is reason to think this trend will continue. Evolution cannot explain our increase in height, but genetics can. Improvement in childhood nutrition has been the most important factor in allowing humans to increase so dramatically in stature....

Sports / David Luiz Reveals Desire To Win The Ouble by Streetcurb: 8:35pm On May 15, 2017
Chelsea defender David Luiz accepted he would be a “liar” to say he was ignoring the prospect of winning a Premier League and FA Cup ‘Double’ with the Blues.

The Blues are already halfway to that achievement after wrapping up the Premier League title ahead of their FA Cup final against London rivals Arsenal on May 27.

But before that showpiece match, Antonio Conte’s men could become the first club in the Premier League era to win 30 league games in a season with victories over Watford on Monday and already-relegated Sunderland on Sunday’s final day of the season....

Ace Comedian, Alibaba has said that many who marry because the sex is good, find out later that good sex doesn’t pay bills.” The motivational speaker shared the post via his Instagram page Sunday morning.

According to him, those whose only take in a relationship is sex soon find out, to their chagrin, that they really have no stake in such relationships at all, especially when someone else has a multiple of sex, brain and good character to offer. Foreign Affairs / US And South Korea Preparing An “arab Spring” In North Korea? by Streetcurb: 12:59am On May 11, 2017
US and South Korea preparing an "Arab Spring" in North Korea?

"Instability," "regime change," and "collapse" of the North Korean system are discussed by US and South Korean experts

It seems unlikely that the US will attempt to militarily attack North Korea and start a conventional war on the Korean Peninsula, especially after Pyongyang has withdrawn from nuclear weapons, which is seen as a deterrent mechanism for that country.

But even after President Donald Trump lowered the tone of his rhetoric, North Korea remains vigilant. Recently, the official daily Rodong Sinmun said that "Washington still has plans to occupy the northern part of the Korean Peninsula with the help of its allies, Japan and South Korea."

Foreign Affairs / Analysts Downplay Effectiveness Of MOAB Strike by Streetcurb: 6:05pm On May 07, 2017
The “mother of all bombs” dropped on Islamic State militants in Afghanistan last month may not have been as effective as U.S. military officials have led on, analysts studying the airstrike said.

Alcis, an institute for geographical analysis, surveyed the targeted area in the Nangarhar province where the largest non-nuclear bomb ever used in combat was used, The Guardian reported Friday. The group determined that 38 buildings and 69 trees were destroyed in a near 500-foot radius, which contradicts statements made by residents who told local media the bomb damages houses up to two miles away.

The group added that the imagery shows no 1,000-foot crater and that much of the damage done appeared to be caused by ground fighting....

Business / Humans Have 100 Years Left by Streetcurb: 9:28am On May 05, 2017
Stephen Hawking is giving humanity a tall order: Colonize Mars in the next century or watch as life on Earth fizzles out.

After last year claiming that humans have 1,000 years left on Earth, Hawking says in a new documentary that we instead have about 100 years until we'll need to jump ship as Earth is overwhelmed by overpopulation, climate change, disease, and artificial intelligence.

It might be a bit premature to start packing, but the BBC's Expedition New Earth will explore technological and scientific advances that will enable life in space or a colony on another planet....

Foreign Affairs / Class Assignment To Build Toy Gun Prompts University Lockdown by Streetcurb: 10:59am On May 04, 2017
An engineering student at Saint Louis University prompted a campus-wide lockdown and a hunt for a possible shooting suspect on Wednesday after his class assignment to build a toy gun was mistaken for a real weapon.

The private university in Missouri issued a shelter in place order Wednesday afternoon after a witness reported seeing someone in a black hoodie go into a dorm with what looked like a gun, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

After questioning two students, police and university officials tracked the source of the scare to a toy gun. SLU spokesman Jeff Fowler says the first student questioned was the individual who witness the supposed gun which led police to interviewing the second student who showed police to his dorm where the toy gun was.

WASHINGTON – As one justice settles into his new job at the Supreme Court, is another about to leave?

Eighty-year-old Justice Anthony Kennedy is so far refusing to comment on speculation that he may soon retire after 29 years on the court.
But that hasn't stopped President Donald Trump and, obliquely, the Republican senator in charge of high court confirmation hearings from weighing in on the prospect that Kennedy could step down as soon as this spring or summer. If not this year, several former law clerks said they would not be surprised to see the justice retire in 2018.
