Ur identity as a student of UI carries weight, it opens door and grants u immunity. But d struggle is more than dat, it is about fighting against autocratic hike of fees without delivering on services paid for, it is about getting justice for our classmates victimized by SDC letter, it is about check mating d highhandedness of university management, it's about asking for the implementation of d student handbook dat allows students to use electric stove in d kitchen. There are a lot of issues hanging on dis struggle. Posterity will judge us if we don't act now for our collective welfare

INCREMENT IN POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL FEES: CALL FOR CONGRESS

*Date: Friday, March 10th, 2017*
*Time: 10:00am*
*Venue: Students' Union Building*
All postgraduate students are expected to be available. Attendance is compulsory.

The leadership of the Joint Postgraduate Students' Union and the overall Students' Union of the prestigious University of Ibadan are dismayed to learn that the university authorities have refused to be responsive to the demands of postgraduate students over the astronomical increment in school fees, which has further inflicted financial harm on virtually all postgraduate students.

In view of this, we are calling on all postgraduate students to come out en masse on Friday, March 10th, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. for a congress at the Students' Union Building.

Already, we are sensitising the media, both local, national, and international on what is happening in UI.

This congress is compulsory for all postgraduate students in order for us to fashion out a way to appropriately address the issue.

We give the university authorities 7 days to reverse the fees. If nothing is done, we would have no choice but to embark on a protest. Importantly, we want to enjoin our members to desist from all acts of vandalism, violence, slanderous statements, and abusive expressions, especially during this period of struggle.

The protest is going to be our last resort.

As postgraduate students, we also have the right to protest. This is a manifestation of our right to freedom of assembly, the right to freedom of association, and the right to freedom of speech.

*We reject the commercialization of education and the continued oppression of graduate students*.

We are calling on the university authorities to understand our plight and act accordingly and in the best interest of the students.

Signed:
Sam Adegbola (Sammyfox)
Public Relations Officer,
Joint Postgraduate Students' Union,
University of Ibadan

Drama from a meeting with a top University official...
Student: we want to see u
UI officer: For what... U cannot ambush me into seeing u... I don't have time to waste on u people
Student: Sir we want you to address some complaints we have on the fee hike
UI Officer: what issues... U people don't have a choice o... We can hike the fees... ur only input is to pay.

Hmmmm this dictatorial government has to stop... The University is not anybody fathers house, it is an intellectual community made up of stakeholders in which the views of students should be upheld. Greatest Uite an injustice to one is an injustice to all. Let's say No to PG SCHOOL HIKE

Please note that UI does not have a good tradition of refunding money back. If u have paid den u are on ur own... If u have not paid, please don't pay. PG school cannot come and do campaign after election. D students were not consulted befor d increment was carried out...We want TOTAL REVERSEMENT OF THE FEES INCREMENT. #SAY NO TO FEE HIKE#

Nigerians and propaganda. It is obvious to all that the protest against the CBN governor is sponsored by politicians. Yes the country is facing a recession but those calling for Emeifele's sack is not doing so for the good of Nigerians rather they are advocating for their pockets. The next CBN governor will be a pawn which they will use to loot. Please visit the below sites for relevant information on this issue

Education / Autism Lessons Of Life!!! by SUCCESSUCHE: 5:36pm On Feb 19, 2016
“It takes a village to raise a child. It takes a child with autism to raise the consciousness of the village,” Coach Elaine Hall
In Africa, training a child is not a one man job, it is a collective and continous project that demands patience and understanding from everyone the child has contact with. It is a psychological project executed unconsciously by non-family members, as neighbours and friends tend to admonish a wrong act and praise a good behavior without examining their reasons for doing so.
However, due to the complexity of the human mind, there are alot of actions and non-actions that people tend to mis-understand and because they can not explain it, they attach negetive labels to people exhibiting odd behaviour. Coach Elaine Hall statement rings true, as it is only when man comes across someone different that they become curious of such differences. Life is a learning process; an autistic child can teach you alot about life, if you let them. Principles such as patience, understanding, friendship and co-operation will have a greater meaning when you see the world of an autistic child. Curiosity opens doors of knowledge and eliminates ignorance. Let’s learn more about Autism and its effects on people we love, let’s eradicate stigmatization. Together we can support people living with autism to reach their best.
