.

90% of those people commenting about Japa can't actually fund it.

British visa and IHS for one year is about 1500 dollars or above. Flight is about 700k above depending on the stop over.

Then the actual means of Japa .. Education or skills? Will determine. If education in the UK then keep 45m. If you are buying sponsorship then keep 15 to 20 upwards.
If you are lucky then you get sponsorship free.

Unless you want to go Togo or African countries or cross's desert. But if UK, Germany, USA Canada it's not for the poor or struggling.

wow. It's a very expensive adventure and it keeps getting more expensive and difficult every passing day. As you have collated the figures above some May need 50 million naira to make this happen. Why not buy a house in naija with the 50 million and rest ? People too like wAhala. Chasing what is not lost.

The matter tire person. It is the rich that are japaing...not the poor. The selfish rich who want to keep being richer by going abroad to make hard currencies. We are not ruled by patriotism in our decisions. They whine that the country is hard but their decisions are part of what is making the country harder
hmmm very powerful points raised

Not so easy...some of them have strict policies on devices and you can be fired...on top you get home and can't sleep once kids start getting home from school...distance with train and buses like 1hr away...memory loss, dementia...it's crazy the things we don't talk about ...abroad abroad we sell lies only

lol I totally get you bro. I have done that security before. It's not a stressful job but it brings a huge set of discomfort and it's own set of suffering into your life. Like you said, after 12 hour shift them getting train home then trying to sleep in the morning is impossible and then at 5pm you have to get ready to go and do it again. It's killing. It's a different kind of stress that Nigerians can never understand. With Nigerians so far as you are in the UK with a job you are enjoying life. They can never understand the realities of a different kind of suffering even in a sane environment

Well 3 Nigerians just found out the reality of that different kind of stress in the UK. In the past 3 months, 3 Nigerians in the UK died on the job.

Will I leave my school and return instantly? Lete get certificate.

I am not telling you not to leave Nigeria. But if I tell you the cost of travelling either through skills sponsorship or through education you will say instead I remain in Nigeria.

There is a friend that came through skilled. Spent over 20 million to get (buy) sponsorship still get no job . The company that took him here don't pay him.

Many that got here through care same issues. One no shift since demand although that one spend 10m.

But all in all ensure you are dealing with thr right company.... Directly like NHS if you are a nurse or directly to a company owned by a white man and you apply through their website and get response from them
wow you and your friends spent alot of money's on this japa adventure.

But they say naijas are suffering. But suffering men can cough up 30 million, 20 million, 15 million naira . The narrative is not adding up

See this kind yarn o. You know one data point I want to get for Nigeria? I want to know how many adults, especially university graduates over 50 years old, own a cement or brick home in the city where they work and earn a living. And of those that do, did any of the funds come from their relatives abroad? How many Nigerian adults over 30 years old own cars or can afford one? I bet you it's not over 20%.

Look this argument has been hashed over years on Nairaland. Why not go back as far as 2003 and see the threads. The Anti-Jakpa people were using these same lines. They've been proven wrong for over 20 years now as Nigeria gets worse and worse. At this point one can confidently call these delusional whitewashing.

Just look through all the threads started by Ozoemeka, Sukkot, Ahiboilandgas, Sihamey and other like minds.

Oga rest abeg. I remember the Great Recession in 2008 when Nigerians back home were making fun of those abroad, but here we are. The bottom line - nobody ever lost money betting against Nigeria. The country is in continuous decline compared to the West....USA, Canada, UK, Germany and such.

Good Luck to Nigeria.

I made the 30milliion in Nigeria not in UK

In fact I own over 4 houses in Nigeria sold 2 before I left
so you owned 4 houses in Nigeria and you sold 2 and japa ? Were you remote controlled ? But you are one of the lucky few because you still have 2 houses left in naija. Why not cut your losses and return home ? What's keeping you there ? You obviously sound like you are in distress over there . What's keeping you there ? Remote control ?

l understand your fears and concerns, l am not insinuating you eat anywhere, the 5 star restaurant, different eateries, pepper, tomatoes, onions seller's etc could also be coven attendees or agents of darkness but you have to pray and sanctify your food in Jesus, / Jehovah's Name Amen and you are safe
its not the fear of anything happening that is the problem, it's the irritation factor. What's the hygiene level. And trust me I have not always been like this. This started a few years ago

I know families that are almost parting ways because of this lines.
Please and please Japa comes with its own challenges and it's extremely expensive and one must think very well and be tactful before a step.

You must have funds to keep you a year or 2 ... And this runs into thousands of pounds.

I mean families sold houses, cars, left jobs and they are here fighting.... Na u say make i leave Nigeria. I am not telling u super story this is true life story.

wow please make a thread about these families and their stories and tag me in it

Yeah the Anti-Japa Crew is in hiding. They're the main reason I joined Nairaland. Bunch of jokers. Who can forget their advice?

Don't migrate because your mother might die. Abroad you must borrow for every significant purchase, you will NEVER pay off your house mortgage. UK is nowhere as good as it used to be, every Nigerian in UK is suffering.

Don't move to USA because you'll never be able to save ₦10million and of course my fav...will you take your whole family...they will remain and suffer with everyone else in Nigeria.

grin grin grin

The kinds of things I'm hearing from Nigeria these days. Imagine you can't get your cash from a bank without paying a bribe to bank staff. Ordinary ₦100K !!! Middle class people abandoning their cars just like it happened back in 1984.

Let the Anti-Jakpa Crew remain there dishing out advice on countries they've never visited.

Good Luck to Nigerians grin
lol but suffering is everywhere and enjoyment is everywhere. Let's pray for grace wherever we are

another hopeless comment meant to create hopelessness in people....let your words edify. How is internet and light cheaper? Cheapest Electricity is $250 - $300 during winter time...that's close to N400,000 a month and internet can be as much as $80 which is about N120,000 for a month of use. You japa to UK...yes you will work but those care jobs are no different from bricklayers or laborers in Nigeria...you feel them in your body true and true...even security jobs. Ask those with the experiences...ask about people that got sick and relocated at mid age, ask about our people in mental institutions, ask about our people with strokes abroad...yet we come online and sell paradise that is not real for average Nigerian abroad.

i have to tell you though being a security guard in the UK, night duty , in this internet age will be very sweeeetttttttt. I will just be on nairaland for the 12 hour shift or be watching YouTube videos. Imagine those who did security pre internet ? You will just be staring at white walls for 12 hours straight. This why most of our uncles are in mental institutions in the UK. All they can see now are white walls lmaooooooo

Not really, l am wondering why you are not exploring other parts of Lagos, any time l arrive Nigeria, l drop my ajebutter Life at the airport, from the airport, l wear my street and ajekpako lifestyle, l hadly drive my car, l use okada and molue , l go on a very low profile, l eat at good bukas, l haggle price like a stingy ijebu Man, you will never know that I am just arriving the country, l blend so fast, my movements are in discreet, after my visit, l disappear like a spirit back to the West, my point is this, pull off your British coat, convert to a proper street guy, talk to okada riders and they will take you to all the Mama sikira bukas in Lagos grin
lol bro people are different. I can't eat just anywhere because people do diabolical things to the food to attract customers. It's all kind of madness going on out there bro. One time I went to this Amala joint, the girl was holding my Amala waiting for her turn to get stew on it, I saw her digging in her buttcheeks and she used same hand to handle my Amala. Yeah I can't just eat anywhere like dat. Make i no go vomit inside restaurant lmao

@mariahAngel,

Even without ever tasting your foods, from the uploaded pictures of the delicacies you've been cooking over the last few years, it seems to me you're indeed a very good cook, and you're already monetizing what you do as well.
Once I sense a tinge of chicken seasoning cubes, bay leaves, and thyme in my food, I'm good to go!

So, my friend @Sukkot would def like most of your colorful meals and pastries as well.

Whoa! Sukkot, how's your week going?

Indeed, it was 2,000 plus back in 2018. I like looking out for some online customer reviews before ordering for things or visiting physical eateries and more... and this strategy has always helped me to avoid getting poor service delivery and save cost!

Yes! I later spotted it and have updated my original post to you. Just a quick question below.

Was it maple syrup that you got OR some other syrup substitute like honey?

Nice your topic made it to the FP. A lot of folks are giving fantastic feedback here on cost savings and more.

yeah it's a good season for me. I need to go play the lottery. Lol. Now with the syrup I gotta he honest with you the waffle was sweet enough as it was and the syrup would have been sweetness overkill. I mean sweet as in sugary not sweet as in the food was great. So I didn't touch the syrup. To be honest with you it was just a wrong choice for me. It was an experiment went wrong. I rather have Amala and ewedu for breakfast
