You can tell this accursed chimp isn’t Yoruba - he’s from the desolate pigsty in the SE. No real Yoruba person would call, Eguns, who are refugees from Abomey, the real indigenous people of Lagos.

The Eguns arrived in Badagry during the reign of King Ghezo, as guests of Oyo empire, after their homeland was sacked by Dahomey and they were received by the Aworis.

Anyway, a lot of you idiots that post nonsense online whilst being impostors are going to be dealt with soon. The guy, Tinubu, who gave you Nigerian internally displaced refugees leverage in Lagos is now in Abuja and the indigenous people of Lagos are going to right his wrongs in due course.

And it’s either going to be by force or through legal means. If we have to kill a lot of you bastards to reduce your obsession with Lagos - we shall do it.

But that's not even my point, my point is y'all need to stop promoting tribalistic rhetorics. It's divisive. It's EVIL.
oh its a tribal world. you cant get away from that. the key is to acknowledge the differences and respect it

It's a shame people still think like this in 2024 for crying out loud. Gbadebo's father who issued a press conference responding to the political attacks on his son is who you are claiming disowned him? All because of tribalism? What a shame. If someone who is supposedly exposed can think this way, imagine the homegrown ones, smh.
nooooo his father issued a statement saying gbadebo does not represent his company or foundation. Have you forgotten so quickly ? He denied that boy sharp sharp cuz he was coming out with anti Yoruba sentiments. Gbadebo is obviously pro Igbo

Indeed, he would have gotten a red carpet welcome like you said. The Yoruba folks and most of the other cultures of Nigeria are culturally patrilineal EXCEPT the Ijaws who are matrilineal (like some Ghanaian ethnicities).

hehe it’s true na. Oh ok so the ijaws are matrilineal ? That’s interesting info.

Lol... Interesting takes Sukkot.

Women generally tend to have this maternal instinct and pocessiveness towards their children... especially the males, while the females or daughters essentially gravitate towards their dads and become the pampered "daddy's girls"... grin

Giannis 'Sina Ugo Adetokunbo missed an opportunity to connect with family members within his paternal roots during that first ever summer visit to Nigeria. I have NO issues with him meeting his mother's family members who are from Delta North in Delta State (the same region of Delta State where the iconic actor and Lagos lawmaker Desmond Olusola Elliot's mother comes from. His father being a Yoruba from Olowogbowo, Lagos Island) but I guess there will be another time. Such homecomings from the Diaspora are usually NOT complete if it doesn't feature both sides of the family tree. If Charles Adetokunbo was still alive and not passed on suddenly in the U.S., he would definitely have taken Giannis to visit his own side of the family so he can get to know all his cousins and uncles. In any event it's usually good for a man to take the lead and teach his kids about his family ancestral history and language whether in a multiethnic marriage or not, while NOT denying his kids the knowledge of their maternal roots.

Also, the WhatsApp documentary ought to have scheduled a visit to the Governors of Lagos State and Ogun State (where Charles Adetokunbo, Giannis father originally hailed from). Giannis 'Sina Adetokunbo is on the same pedestal with my OG, Hakeem Olajuwon who had earlier won the 1994 NBA MVP, so he shouldn't just sneak into Nigeria without some form of media publicity. That should be done next time so that more folks who like him can welcome him to his ancestral roots.

When Anthony Oluwafemi Joshua came visiting Nigeria, he was given a rousing welcome in Ogun (his paternal and maternal home state of origin) and Lagos States with visits to many interesting locations to inspire people and also visit the Governors of those two states.

see if he had come to naija through his yoruba side they would have rolled out the red carpet for him. he would meet kings and sanwo olu ( governors ) and the president. instead he outchea eating eba and ugu in some prayer warriors house in obscurity. how can a whole giannis come to nigeria and receive this mediocre reception ? its shameless.

the signature point of the shamelessness is being sold your own jersey by someone who doesnt recognise or know you

Sukkot, Happy New Year once again.

Giannis Adetokunbo could have exaggerated a bit on that... I doubt if the Adetokunbo couple would have been openly hostile to each other's languages like that after being married for so long (Charles Adetokunbo being originally from Abeokuta in Ogun State and Veronica Adetokunbo being from Delta North in Delta State). Moreover they lived in Lagos State where Yoruba is openly spoken before migrating to Greece back in the early 1990s.

It's also the duty of a father to teach his kids his own language and the duty of the mother to teach her kids her own language in a multiethnic marriage. In the event that a woman is very fluent in both languages, then she can teach both since linguists say kids are able to learn or assimilate multiple languages at once.

hey my brother konquest happy new year to you too bro. Nah bro I do not see any reason why he would exaggerate something as serious as this. The same situation happened in the vivour Rhodes household with gbadebo where his mother commandeered him to the Igbo side and his dad had to eventually just disown him. The thing here is that the relationship between a Yoruba man and an Igbo woman is very innocent at the onset and the both of them are not thinking about tribe but lust. But further down the line when a child is involved that Igbo woman is going to get very possessive over the children especially if they turn out very well like gbadebo and Gianni’s and that is when she will discover that she is an extreme Igbo patriot and would try to steer the child the Igbo way. Now if the child does not turn out very well you will never have any problems lol. I believe aketi had same problem, they say his son and wife were like a tag team.

Amebo, where did you hear this one!? Or you think it's not normal for children born abroad not to know how to speak their mother or father tongue? You have Nigerian families abroad whose parents are from one ethnicity, yet their kids don't speak their language! They may understand it, but it's hard to find the children speaking it fluently! Have you heard the boxer Joshua speaking Yoruba? Yet either both his paents are Yoruba....or his Mother is and his Dad isn't Nigerian, i can't remember now!

Very sad story in how his dad and his mother hated each other’s culture and were trying to impose their own respective culture on the children. He said his dad would get angry if his mom tried to teach him Igbo and his mom would get angry if the dad tried to teach him Yoruba and because of that he never learnt any Nigerian language because he didn’t want to let any of his parents down by learning the others language and culture. Such a toxic environment.
