Sports / Oshoala Wins Women's FA Cup With Arsenal Ladies by Surfboard(m): 5:13pm On May 14, 2016 |
Super Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala has won the English FA Cup with less than two months joining the Arsenal Ladies team, as the Gunners defeated Chelsea Ladies 1-0 at Wembley on Saturday. The Nigerian striker was on for the entire duration, as the game ended in favour of the North London club, making history after leaving the Liverpool Ladies. Daniela Carter made the difference for Arsenal Ladies 18 minutes into the game. The winger cuts inside, skips past her marker and bends the ball into the top corner. Kelly Smith hits the bar in the 48th minute, as Oshoala delivered a good cross, but the striker rattles the woodwork. Nigeria-born English striker, Eniola Aluko replaced Carney in the 55th minute, as Chelsea made their second change. http://www.soccernet.com.ng/2016/05/oshoala-wins-fa-cup-with-arsenal-ladies.html?m=1 |

Traditionally, it's so his right hand(which is perceived as his sword hand) can be free to fight, so he can defend himself and his bride.
That's what I read somewhere a while ago. 1 Like |

Interesting write up. Now isn't the time to delve into history, although if we are playing the blame game, then America has a large chunk of the blame for what's happening in Syria.
My issue with the way government has handled Boko Haram(Jonathan and Buhari) is that it has been politicised. What is a threat to national security and the nation's territorial integrity has become something politicians have used to score political points. If we carry on in this vein, we may never be able to minimise acts of terror. Believe me, the intelligence agencies are working, they work hard everyday, but they don't gather all this intelligence for the masses. Intelligence is gathered only for the political/ruling class. I hope we get it right in the end. 1 Like |

The AGF has no power to declare the National Assembly election null and void. If they feel they have evidence, then they should take it before the courts.
Anyone wondered why Dogara isn't having this forgery problem? Afterall, his sins are so similar to Saraki's. 1 Like 1 Share |

Yes, it's very possible. The problem is that society has programmed us to think that once we feel 'love' for one person, it has to be that person alone which is wrong.

Like I said, I know its legally acceptable. What I'm saying is; ask yourself why one will hire 90lawyers to defend himself. Have you heard of something similar before overseas, europe to be precise? Must we model everything on what they do overseas? If a man decides he wants to have 90 lawyers defend him in court, how's that even morally wrong? As long as he's not stealing your money to pay them, then he can as well do as he pleases. I think you're among those who have already tagged him guilty before the court has given the verdict. Please stop thinking like that. If everyone thinks like you and an allegation is made against you tomorrow, no one will think you're innocent, talkless of listening to your side of the story. |

A quote says; there is a court that supercedes every other court. Higher than even a law court, that court is the court of conscience. Tell yourself the truth, leave legalities aside & logic. Let's apply instincts and conscience, what kind of person will hire 90 lawyers to defend him in a court of law? A person who can afford to hire 90 lawyers will hire 90 lawyers. Stop letting sentiment cloud your reason. This thing is pretty straightforward. |

I guess you missed out the part where I stated that there's a chance of not ridding the country of corruption entirely. I know about there still being corruption in Brazil, but the government is doing its bid to help reduce it to the barest minimum. It's impossible to wipe it out entirely.
There's corruption even in the more advanced countries. Lol, the same government whose head is accused of being corrupt? Please get your facts right. |

Can these things happens in any sane climate?
Now what if saraki can not afford to pay for many lawyers?
Nigeria is truly a corrupt country.
Looking for the best hand indeed. I should say the truth? I guess what you mean I should say is that, 'he's a thief, he's corrupt'. However, that's where we are different. What I wrote there is my truth. I'm learned and you're not. |

Now, all we need is speedy prosecution of the rapists.
We have called out the corrupt, raiders and harvesters of public wealth. I guess there's no louder voice.
Brazil was able to get it right because she called out the corrupt in the same vein, look how better she has become. We want more for our beloved country.
This won't completely rid Nigeria of corruption, but at the very least, it will plant a soul in the minds of the heartless. What good is stolen money when you'll pay back every kobo and land a jail sentence?
I have always been a proponent of the system of incentives! Your example of Brazil is highly flawed. There's still corruption in the government there. |

Reyginus: Is this a joke or what? How did invitation became a permanent residence? Truth is, whether he's guilty or not, to the dumb populace he's guilty. That's the new low we're stuck in. Once your name is mentioned alongside some amount of money you are already guilty.
And there are also the morally incapacitated who call those who stick to the rule of law supporters of corruption. An emerging and powerful group of poor minded intellectuals who call you a supporter of corruption for questioning the logic that makes a person who's not been found guilty guilty.
The easiest way to ruin the reputation of anyone now is to mention his name in a money scandal. By default he's guilty. But these set of people, that is, who label every one guilty once charged, are truly the corrupt ones. Their thinking have been corrupted by their poor understanding of the law. These ones need help. Couldn't have said it better. Well said. 2 Likes |

No doubt. But have you ever wondered what each one will be doing? Its like one person being treated by 90 different doctors Well, the team will find a role for everyone. Representing someone in court goes beyond just appearing in court. In a case as important as this, a lot of work goes on behind the scenes. What you actually see in court is the easy part for the lawyers. |
