From shortcut/guess work... 12*2=24, 18*3=54; 2+3=5hrs, 24+54=78km... Therefore x=2hrs, y=3hrs.

From long solution:

12x + 18y = 78km (eqn 1)
x + y = 5 hrs (eqn 2)

Multiply (eqn 2) by 12

12x + 18y = 78 (eqn 3)
12x + 12y = 60 (eqn 4)

Subtract (eqn 4) from (eqn 3) to solve for y

6y = 18
y = 18/6
y = 3

Solve for x using (eqn 2)

x + 3 = 5
x = 5 - 3
x = 2

Therefore x=2hrs, y=3hrs.

BEFORE YOU BLAST ME, GOOGLE THE MEANING OF RECESSION AND COMPARE IT TO WHAT WE ARE EXPERIENCING NOW. ITS FAR WORSE THAN THE GREAT DEPRESSION OF 1930'S.

First, in public forum like this, one does not yell by giving his/her opinions- typing in upper cases

Second, this is a circle made up of individuals, specialists, corporate persons, and many more, you don't give a very immature n poor opinion, all in the name of being known or what have you.

Third, either advanced economies or developing (emerging economies) work in cycles. Also, global economy is interdependent. Advanced economies need imports from developing economies for global productive purposes in their various sectors of the economies likewise the developing ones. There are certain values of macroeconomic aggregates like inflation, unemployment, economic growth etc which an economy requires of, either a developed or developing economy. Rise in crude oil prices is a function of inflation which has socioeconomic and political characteristics like int'l industrial productive sectors, international market demand and supply, the state of advanced economies n developing ones, and so on. The crude oil prices, either Brent crude oil or light sweet oil swing upwards and downwards vis-à-vis the global economic growth and development. In other words, the price, as at yesterday USD38.XX will still rise with time as a result of global productive economic activities, and many more.The advanced economies need a certain value of inflation rate to achieve their macroeconomic objectives.

Lastly, I hope this will be of information to you that you would think twice henceforth before giving your opinion in a forum like this.

This country is a joke. The man committed no crime. Why the hell did they publish his details for all to see? At least he didn't take the money at gun point neither did he conned anybody for the money. They should ve quietly looked for the man and ask for their money back in a more matured manner. You don't make a good banker. Cash mistakenly credited into his account, he ran away with it according to the info. If the money belongs to him, be reachable. The fact that he is nowhere to be found makes him one. His bank needs his attention on the deposit.

In one word, the way government activities are carried out requires a total restructure. They cost of doing things in governments (all levels) should be restructured in a way that will bring about development. These institutional processes, entitlements of public office holders, security details, privileges, allowances, grants, this monetization of a thing meant to embezzle our money, cost of running govts, what govts cater for for the officials, n what have you are bottlenecks. They need to be removed now. When another govt comes to power, return to its old way. With this system of running govts we can never get there. Some who think their father, mother, aunty or unc‭le is there to help them is not the best. Let everything be done in a reasonable way.
