salary would be paid when it would be paid.... all this continuous posting about salary payment delay & how Gov Wike doesn't like paying on time, how Amaechi too delays salary and how much FAAC shared each month, doesn't bring salary payment forward.... neither does not posting push it backwards.

Access to Quality Education: Wike abolishes fees and levies for public primary and secondary schools
By Bachi - June 24, 20190
Share on Facebook Tweet on Twitter

In a bid to create access to quality education, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has announced the total abolition of all forms of fees and levies in public primary and secondary schools across the state.

Governor Wike directed State-Owned Primary and Secondary Schools to stop collecting fees and levies from students and pupils with immediate effect.

Governor Wike stated that henceforth the State Government will be sending direct allocations to all primary and secondary schools management for their operations.

He spoke on Monday during a meeting with the heads of primary and secondary schools, Rivers State Senior Secondary Schools Board and State Universal Basic Education Board at the Government House Port Harcourt.

He said: “From today henceforth, no child either in primary and secondary schools should pay fees and levies in any school across the State.

“The monies you collect from these children are just used for your personal purposes. If I hear that any school head collects any fees or levies, be they examination , NECO or WAEC fees, that school head would be sanctioned.

“We shall not only dismiss the school head who collects fees or levies, we will prosecute the person involved.

“Government will work out grants that will be sent to the schools for their regular management and operations “.

Governor Wike directed the State Ministry of Education, the Rivers State Senior Secondary Schools Board and the State Universal Basic Education Board to monitor all public schools across the state to ensure compliance.

The Governor noted that the administration funds the salaries, allowances, examinations and equipment of all public schools. He assured parents that his administration will remain committed to the provision of quality education, which is accessible to the less privileged.

“I have abolished all fees and levies and it will never happen again in our public primary and Secondary schools. Nobody should collect fees and levies from the children of the less privileged “, he said.

The school heads celebrated the new directive of the Rivers State Governor.

The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, June 4 and Wednesday, June 5, as public holidays to mark the Muslim Eid-Fitri Celebration.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Mrs Georgina Ehuriah, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement signed by Mr Mohammed Manga, Director Press & Public Relations, of the ministry, on Friday in Abuja.

Ehuriah congratulated the Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and enjoined all Nigerians to use the occasion of the celebration to pray for the peace, unity, prosperity and stability of the nation.

I feel for teachers who have double periods on Wednesdays...... no teaching for 3 Wednesdays in a row, June 12 is Wednesday as well.

Which accept are the 13200 teachers to emulate on my bro?The WAEC matter or the another income matter?

why should I come on this platform and advice teachers to engage in Examination Malpractice?

......I feel ashamed when I see my fellow teacher, who taught a class of students a particular subject, from SSS1, took them to SSS2 & took them to SSS3 & that same teacher would be the same person encouraging those same students you taught one subject for 3 years, to engage in malpractice..... in your own subject?

point of correction. They are only in the senior secondary section, and not your senior colleagues. Except your service rank is lower (MG III for instance)

Senior colleagues means Senior colleagues..... be it Primary, Junior or Senior Secondary, as long as they were employed before us & they have a higher level than us (10, 13,14, 15 etc), they are our Senior colleagues.

those are the colleagues I am referring to, that's why I called them "Senior colleagues"

see am, we no dey learn. look at our Senior colleagues, how many of them are always anxious, tense and agitated at month end? ....even when salary delays? very few. very very few.
why?
another source of income..... yes I know some of our senior colleagues rely heavily on WAEC malpractice, o sorry, WAEC supervision, but they still have one or more sources of income, we the so-called 13, 000 teachers must emulate them, in that aspect at least.

2019:  Federal High Court restrains INEC  from accepting any candidates from Rivers APC

▪Federal High Court nullifies direct and indirect primaries of Rivers State APC

▪declares that Rivers State APC cannot present any candidates for the Governorship , Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly elections

A Federal High Court in Port Harcourt on Monday restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising any candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC ) for the 2019 General elections in Rivers State .

The court also nullified all nominations of the APC  in Rivers State for the forthcoming elections in 2019.

The court ruled specifically that the  APC cannot participate in the Governorship,Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly elections during the 2019 polls in Rivers State.

Justice Kolawole  Omotosho in his judgment  in the suit filed by Senator Magnus Abe and others versus Rivers APC and others declared the APC for failing to respect the law must bear the consequences of her disobedience of the law.

Justice Omotosho stated that the Direct and indirect primaries of the Rivers State APC are illegal, null and void.

The court further declared that both the Direct and indirect primaries were held during the pendancy of the suit at the Rivers State High Court.

According to the court, the APC conducted the indirect primaries  in gross disrespect of the pending suit before Justice Chinwendu Nwogu of the Rivers State High Court.

He noted that the judgment  of Justice Chinwendu Nwogu nullifying the primaries of the APC in Rivers State is yet to be set aside by an appellate court, hence it remains valid.

The court, therefore held that the names sent by the Amaechi  faction and the National Working Committee  of the APC to INEC for the 2019 General elections  were illegal and should be disregarded .

He posited that the Direct primaries conducted by the Senator Magnus Abe faction were illegal because  the National Working Committee of APC did not monitor or participate in the processes.

Justice Omotosho added that Justice Chinwendu Nwogu was clear when he nullified all primaries and congresses held during the pendancy of the suit, which included the Direct primaries conducted by the Abe faction.

He said that both the Senator Magnus Abe and the Amaechi factions have no leg to stand in view of the judgment, hence both factions are disqualified from participating in the elections.

The court held that the APC in Rivers State has no power to nominate and sponsor any candidates  for the 2019 General elections.

Justice Omotosho condemned  the invasion of the Rivers State High Court during the hearing of the suit, saying that actions must be taken to check the excesses of persons interested in destroying the rule of law.

how does this concerns teachers? ....you should post this on some Rivers People's forums. let's login here & read informative updates that concerns everyone of us Teachers & Civil service perhaps.
