What are they trying to achieve by arresting the guy? I just cant understand their problem. They are just afraid. They feel he knows too much. That is the problem of Nigeria. Once someone try to excell they look at him as treat to their success. Instead of them to focus their energy on fighting armed robbers, they are wasting their time, our resources and 100s of man work hours just to make one man unhappy. It is nothing other than vengeance. And it is in our blood. Im so angry with this. Why wont they allow him to graduate? He is humble enough to accept to go NIPSS in the first place. If he had wished he would have left the police and leave the country. But he decided to stay. Cant they just be reasonable enough and focus on governace. Im just very angry today and very bitter. I feel so bad. How do they expect people to make sacrifice to make the country great. That is how they will go after Soludu very soon.

I think it is unfortunate for the present government to go round 'witch' hounting the young police officer. Despite the fact that Ribadu might have not done it perfectly, but he has created an institution. The mandate given by EFFC is no different to the police money laundery department, ICPC, Code of Conduct Burea/Tribunal. These instutitions exist just like any other agency in Nigeria, doing nothing and collecting allocations. Yar'adua and Aondoko should forget about this young and get ahead with governance. What can we say with a government without Ministers for nearly 2 months? Isnt this rediculous?
Politics / Re: Kano State Govt And Hypocrisy by tharma(f): 1:28pm On Nov 22, 2008
", be just, that is closest to piety, " This statement applies to any religion. However Nigerian political leaders just romance religion just to remain politically relevant. Isnt it in Nigeria that u will c our Governors doing the first reading of bible in the Church? However, the Kano issue, and Bauchi too, is honestly uncalled for. It is even not religion, it is just deception. I am sure the contract for those bill boards can build a primary school (not contract price).
Politics / Re: Merrill Lynch Ranks Nigeria World’s Safest Economy by tharma(f): 9:14pm On Nov 19, 2008
If Merrill Lynch says Nigerian economy is the Worlds Safest Economy to invest I wont be suprise. Why? Because it has been so. Perharps they have just discovered it after loosing billion of dollars in other countries. They should have asked companies like Shell, Chevron, Mobil, Lafarge, Virgin, Julius Berger, MTN, Pentascope, Zain, Arab contractors, etiselat and a host of other companies in Nigeria. What makes it safer is because of our foolishness and also the government is so mad about foreign investors that they shield them from all economic loss. There is no any foreign company in the country that have ever reported loss. Once a foreign company makes its way to Nigerian show, it dictates the economic terms of any agreement, transaction terms, market prices. These companies account are never properly audited by government agencies. They only pay taxes they wish to pay and n some cases they dont even pay because they hardly declare some of the income they made. Take for instance the case of Virgin Nigeria, where Richard Brandson was dictating to government of Nigeria how to run its airports. The government gave him preferential treatment over all airline operators, even the he is not providing a better service than other airline. Take for instance the case of Pentascope in the Nitel deal. The government just gave them Nitel free of charge to manage and take away all d profit. Nitel was estimated to have made loss close to £100m, while Pentascope is making profit they have never made. Take the instace of the Ajakuta steel industry. The Indian guy was given the giant steel industry to steal anything he want and sell. No one says anything because he is a foreign investor.
Foreign investors are modern 'colonia' masters. They dictate what happened in our country. All foreign investor are their to exploit. They are not into manufacturing but stealing. Have anybody ever wondered why Shell, Mobil, Chevron and other oil companies didnt care to have Refineries in Nigeria? Cos they are not investors but exploitors. Countries like China and India understand the difference between investors and exploitors. They welcome any company in their country ready to produce/manufacture their but not exploiters. That is y today u will C a Toshiba TV made in China. U C a Dell PC made in China. U c a Nokia handset made in China. Do u think it is only because of cheap labour? Labour is Cheaper in Nigeria than in China or India.
For Merrill Lynch to say that Nigeria is good place for Investment, we have to watch out. Cos these companies are targetting the oil dollars make up for their loses.

Islam for Muslims / Re: The Salafi Dawah by tharma(f): 7:37pm On Nov 13, 2008
Salafi Da'awah is not a sect or a religion group, it is rather a movement or what people may called a wind of change. It has no leader nor does it have special guide books like other sects such as Qadiyani, Ahmadiya, shi'a, tijjaniya, qadiriyya. The Salaf movement started as a result of quest by individual muslims that needed to seek for the truth and nothing but the truth. They based their argument and da'wah based on authentic ahadiths and rightful interpretation of Islamic injunctions. The Salaf Da'awah encourages everybody to seek for knowledge and not based their understanding of Islam only to what their Ulamas, sheiks or Imams of their sects tell them.

However that does not mean that the people involve in the Salaf movement are perfect. We always, seems to think and accept that once a person is very versed in Islamic Knowledge he will not make a mistake or he is faith is unquestionable. Knowledge is completely different from taqwa. There are always weak muslims no matter how knowledgeable they are. There will be always be weak Ulamas that are apolegetic to the government. In Saudi Arabia there are many Salaf sheiks that are sponsored/paid by the government in order to keep the society at bay. And in Saudi there are many, many Salaf sheiks in prison because they are found to be extreme. And there are many that just keep quite because they cant do anything (and these are many). Scholars apolegetic to the government does not start today. Even during the time of the Sahaba, during the reign of Mu'awiyya and his son Yazid, it happens.

One thing we should appreciate about the da'awah of the Salaf it brought about the revival of the early Islamic culture of seeking of knowledge. People now seek for knowledge. And people are allowed to think and express themselves within the realm of what is halal. If not because of that, alot muslims will have being bonded to the supplication and worship of saints.

So the truth is coming out. A while ago I read about baby harvesting business in Enugu, today it is witches in AkwaIbom. Where are all these people claiming that their region/states are far more better than the North. At least in the North they send them to beg for food, not dump them for child harvesting or rituals and witch craft. This is more barbaric and inhuman, I have ever read about Nigeria in recent history.

Christain, and when I say Christains I mean Christains that see Christianity with Nigerian eyes, will not believe that Christianity is dwindling in Europe. Even the Pope himself have said that christianity is dwindling. Im a living witness, here in UK Churches are being sold. Sold to Nigerians/Africans to start a church. Sold to restaurants. I have cn a church converted to mosque here in UK. In Europe most young ppl have no religion affiliation. Infact they take religion as a culture, just like we take our Juju/Babalawos as part of our cultures despite being Christains/Muslims. That is y they define some religions as organised, while others as animistic or , some sorth of names. They dont even shout God/Jesus in bad situations, they shout Bleep! Damn!, nd they are not bothered. None of my classmates believe in any form of religion. And those in UK or some European Countries like france, Sweeden can attest to that. Those

Modern culture is destroying faith, pope warns
Oct 5, 2008

ROME (AFP) — Pope Benedict XVI attacked the Godless character of modern culture as he celebrated mass Sunday in a Roman basilica to mark the opening of a synod of Catholic bishops.

In a sombre homily in which he suggested that Christianity in Europe could become extinct like some Christian communities in history, the pope told more than 250 bishops from around the world that societies which rebelled against God in the past had faced His "punishment".

Benedict warned that "nations once rich in faith and vocations are losing their own identity under the harmful and destructive influence of a certain modern culture".

Benedict however tempered his speech by saying "if in certain regions, faith weakens to the point of fading away, there will always be other people ready to receive it," adding "evil and death never have the final word."

While ppl are fretting there nerves, Luke have already stated it in the bible, for those of u that just read and pass without understand what he says. Luke said in the beginning of his boo:

1Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us,

2Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word;

3It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,

4That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.

King James Version (KJV)

Cant u all see, he said: him having a perfect understanding. He didnt say I have inspiration from holy spirit. He didnt say it is word of God. He said my understanding. Why are ppl fretting about nothing. Luke did not claim to be writing on behalf of holy spirit or God. He writes based on his understanding. Who are u to come and say Luke said it is word of God. I think nobody is more holier, or wise than luke. If Luke knew it was not his understanding, he would have stated that clearly.

Every tribe have their own shit. Some even breed babies for sale

ENUGU, Nigeria (AFP) – Neighbors were suspicious of the daytime silence at the maternity clinic that came to life only after nightfall, though never suspected its disquieting secret -- it was breeding babies for sale.

But recent police raids have revealed an alleged network of such clinics, dubbed baby "farms" or "factories" in the local press, forcing a new look at the scope of people trafficking in Nigeria.

At the hospital in Enugu, a large city in Nigeria's southeast, 20 teenage girls were rescued in May in a police swoop on what was believed to be one of the largest infant trafficking rings in the west African country.

The two-storey building on a dusty street in Enugu's teeming Uwani district now stands deserted, shutters down.

Neighbours had long found something bizarre about the establishment, where there was virtually no activity during the day, they told AFP.

The doctor in charge, who is now on trial, reportedly lured teenagers with unwanted pregnancies by offering to help with abortion.

They would be locked up there until they gave birth, whereupon they would be forced to give up their babies for a token fee of around 20,000 naira (170 dollars, 135 euros).

The babies would then be sold to buyers for anything between 300,000 and 450,000 naira (2,500 and 3,800 dollars) each, according to a state agency fighting human trafficking in Nigeria, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

But luck ran out for the gynaecologist, said to be in his 50s, when a woman to whom he had sold a day-old infant, was caught by Nigeria's Security and Civil Defence Service (NSCDS) while trying to smuggle the child to Lagos, the security agency said.

Statistics on the prevalence of baby breeding are hard to come by, but anti-trafficking campaigners say it is widespread and run by well-organised criminal syndicates.

"We believe the scope is much wider than we know," said Ijeoma Okoronkwo, head of NAPTIP.

"It has been happening over time, but we did not know. The first indication we had about this came in December 2006, when an NGO raised the alarm and told us babies were being exchanged for cash and that there were a number of hospitals involved," she told AFP.

The practice takes varying forms. One is where desperate teenagers with unplanned pregnancies, fearing ostracism by society, get lured to a clinic and are forced to turn over their babies.

The girls are so intimidated many can hardly relate their experience freely.

But one brave victim, an 18-year old, who asked not to be named for fear of reprisal, recounted her week-long ordeal when she was trapped inside one of the clinics days before it was raided by police.

"The moment I stepped in there, I was given an injection, I passed out and next thing I woke up and realised I had been raped," the girl, who was five months pregnant at the time of her ordeal, told AFP.

When she asked if she could telephone her family to let them know of her whereabouts, the doctor slapped her on the face.

She was shoved into a room where 19 other girls were kept; all had been through a similar experience. She said the doctor raped her again the following day. A week later police swooped on the clinic.

Another category of young women, driven by deep poverty, lease out their wombs and volunteer themselves, as regularly as is biologically possible, to produce babies for sale.

"When we raided the hospital, we found four women who had been staying at the clinic for up to three years, to breed babies," NSDCS boss for Enugu state commandant Desmond Agu told AFP.

The doctor, whom police named, "had been inviting boys to come and impregnate girls," said Agu.

This was just one of around a dozen centres -- masquerading as maternity clinics, foster homes, orphanages or shelters for homeless pregnant girls -- unearthed in recent months where babies were swapped for cash, said the NAPTITP boss.

Last month police swooped on a so-called foster home, not far from the Enugu police headquarters, where seven teenage pregnant girls and five workers were rounded up, residents said.

In 2005, a Lagos-based orphanage suspected of ties to child trafficking rings, was shut down. There, charred baby-bones were discovered on the rubbish tip, leading to suspicion the orphanage was involved in the peddling of human body parts, possibly for use in rituals or for organ harvesting.

In other cases observers say babies are purchased to be raised for child labour and sexual abuse or prostitution.

Trafficking in humans has become a lucrative trade.

Globally, it is estimated that billions of dollars exchange hands annually for payment of humans, according to the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and several UN agencies.

Witchcraft rituals also fuel baby trafficking, but experts say it is other motives that predominate, at least in this region of Nigeria.

Communities frown on children born out of wedlock and childlessness in marriage remains a curse for the woman.

"In the Igbo society, the price to remain childless is too high," said a clinical psychologist Peter Egbigbo.

"Childless people want to pay any amount for a child and doctors become rich overnight," he said, adding that those who are ready to adopt a baby would rather hide the fact that it is not their biological child.

Exchanging babies for cash is widespread in the region and in many cases locals do not see anything wrong in so doing.

"Many people don't even know what they are doing is criminal. They just think it's adoption -- you walk into a clinic, pay a fee and you have a baby," said Okoronkwo.

Buying or selling of babies is illegal in Nigeria and can carry a 14-year jail term.

It is estimated that globally hundreds of thousands of people are trafficked annually. UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund, estimates that at least 10 children are sold daily across Nigeria, where human trafficking is ranked the third most common crime after economic fraud and drug trafficking, according to UNESCO.

"There is so much profit in this business. There is so much to be made in trafficking and that is why it is thriving.

Last year they have 2 million visitors in mecca. Have anyone watched the Pope John paul burial? People in attendance are estimated to be about 1 - 2 million. U just need to see the videos of the ground that accommodates the 2million ppl then u will understand that counting ppl in Nigeria is all about numbers but not fact. We are just funny. Islam for Muslims / Re: Which Muslim Artiste Do You Love Listening To Their Nasheeds by tharma(f): 7:31pm On Nov 03, 2008
My sisters/brothers. listening to Nasheed have for a long time been debated about its status as either halal or haram. There is no justification anyone can give on the basis that it is praise of Allah (SWA) or The Prophet (PBUH) that is what makes it good. Islam is a religion that have a direction and does not allow willfull innovation in the name of good deeds. That is why upto the present day the basic tenets of Islam are as they were laid down by the Prophet (PBUH).

For those interested the can read this article in full: http://islamqa.com/en/ref/5000/music%20in%20islam

For those that dont have much time this is d summary:
Conclusion

Perhaps – for fair-minded and objective readers – this summary will make it clear that the view that music is permissible has no firm basis. There are no two views on this matter. So we must advise in the best manner, and then take it step by step and denounce music, if we are able to do so. We should not be deceived by the fame of a man in our own times in which the people who are truly committed to Islam have become strangers. The one who says that singing and musical instruments are permitted is simply supporting the whims of people nowadays, as if the masses were issuing fatwas and he is simply signing them! If a matter arises, they will look at the views of fuqahaa’ on this matter, then they will take the easiest view, as they claim. Then they will look for evidence, or just specious arguments which are worth no more than a lump of dead meat. How often have these people approved things in the name of sharee’ah which in fact have nothing to do with Islam!

Strive to learn your Islam from the Book of your Lord and the Sunnah of your Prophet. Do not say, So-and-so said, for you cannot learn the truth only from men. Learn the truth and then measure people against it. This should be enough for the one who controls his whims and submits himself to his Lord. May what we have written above heal the hearts of the believers and dispel the whispers in the hearts of those who are stricken with insinuating whispers. May it expose everyone who is deviating from the path of Revelation and taking the easiest options, thinking that he has come up with something which none of the earlier generations ever achieved, and speaking about Allaah without knowledge. They sought to avoid fisq (evildoing) and ended up committing bid’ah – may Allaah not bless them in it. It would have been better for them to follow the path of the believers.

And Allaah knows best. May Allaah bless and grant peace to His Messenger who made clear the path of the believers, and to his companions and those who follow them in truth until the Day of Judgement.
