truvine: Well, the training IS the job, what I mean is don't wuss out during the training else you get dropped. Last year they were about 30+ twenty seven got picked. They will test you on many things during the training.....from literature to science with modern systems of teaching. They will pay during the training. Last year they paid 30grand to the trainees. The training lasted 3months. From Feb to April this year I think. The salary is a 120grand above. So its a nice place if you eventually scale thru the training. Its not rocket science though if you are brilliant and smart enough you will pass. That's it......once you get with the training program working there comes easy. But not all of you will be given teaching roles. They will assess you all during the training and a few lucky ones will get admin positions. 1 Like |

I have a friend who works there, got recruited last year. The process was very straight forward and simple enough. The test and interview was done the conventional way at the school's premises in Lekki. I wonder why they have chosen to go for this format this year. Obviously a system to whittle down candidates. |

[quote author=bigremo post=28046495] Ok so someone made a mistake, and you did the honorable thing by pointing it out, *thumbs up* , now have you thought about the fact that you might have just posted a negative statement about the same institution you are seeking to be employed into? and you might have just lost a good chance of getting employed (lets assume you passed the test)? Same goes to the other people here that attempted the test yet here they are, posting all sorts of negative remarks. Ever heard the saying "its not everything one sees that should come out of the mouth or in this case, come out on nairaland "? Loyalty does not start when you get employed, it should begin the minute you took interest in that company / institution. I must say that this is a very narrow minded and thoughtless thing to say. Meadow Hall is an institution that is made up of people....human beings who are prone to errors and mistakes. They are not cybernetically enhanced entities neither are they the latest incarnation of Braniac 1000. They can make mistakes and it isn't out of this world for them to do so. It is people like you who get employed to companies that are no better than concentration camps and stay crushed under the jackboot of cruel and insensitive bosses. In the university lecturers made mistakes all the time, do you know how many times students would have suffered if we didn't point them out? Has it even occurred to you that Meadow Hall could have deliberately left the 'mistake' unattended to even test how many persons here pay attention to detail? The company where I work presently had a similar issue. Some questions in the aptitude test where deliberately distorted to look and sound stupid but that's where the trick was. This has nothing to do with loyalty. It is common sense. Do you know if that small mistake he pointed out would have cost him the job? Please display a little insight. There is nothing wrong if Meadow Hall makes a mistake and someone points it out on naira land. The person in charge of that aspect of the recruitment from Meadow Hall may have been incompetent. And if the School as a whole is filled with incompetent people then its best everyone knows first hand what they are dealing with. Peace. 2 Likes |

tebirim: Evidently you do not seem to understand what this thread is all about. Someone(unlike you) who works 8am to 7pm daily while being forced to endure many insults and indignities from his/her boss topped off with a monthly stipend that barely covers transportation costs will have more than enough to vent about. The simple fact that people have to express their frustrations about their jobs on a forum like this(no matter how inappropriate it may seem) should tell you that there is something very wrong with these companies. I sure won't have a reason to complain if my company treats me as I ought to be treated. Some persons worked really hard to acquire the education they using to pursue these so called jobs and some of these CEOs and MDs are barely educated to your level so they have it out for you even without the poor work conditions getting to u. Don't be insensitive, if ur boss treats u right and ur work conditions are okay, be thankful. There are people out there who will give anything to be in ur position. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

@parrotibaba, while the life of Kratos from the GOW games borrows heavily from the story of Hercules in particular from Greek mythology(and other heroes), he isn't necessarily the American Hercules. The franchise happens to be made by American creators(actually nearly every movie based on Greek myths have been made by Americans). The character is just a video game creation. Just like Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid franchise created by a Japanese dude. |

Katdaddy: Serious?? "Lucy" and "Transformers: Age of Extinction" are actually below par. Movies like that don't get nominated for Oscars. Action flicks rarely get nominated. Lucy is bland and overhyped......TAOE is just a confused action movie with no definite goal. Very few action flicks have made sense this year. 2 Likes |

[quote author=RayMcBlue post=27019953] In original Greek mythology, Kratos is not a God. He's merely a servant (an enforcer) to Zeus and the rest of Olympus. Kratos doesn't exist in Greek mythology. He isn't a servant or anything. He simply doesn't exist in Greek mythological stories. He is a pastiche of Greek characters. Created soley for the GOW franchise. |

Kezifils: Kratos is not a Greek mythology character oga. He was created solely for the God of War franchise. And just like someone pointed out to you, he is an amalgam of one or two Greek heroes. Wiki is only there to provide you with details, even details on fictional characters. |

This is by far one of the worst movie reviews I have ever seen. No coordination whatsoever. Ahn ahn!!!! You can say whatever you like o, but this here is a very shoddy piece. You mustn't do a review just to take cheap shots @ what you feel other people's opinion about the movie are. And I know you know what I mean. The movie is quite good but your reasons for doing this review are more subjective than objective. Anyone sez otherwise is deceiving you. |
TV/Movies / Re: Half Of A Yellow Sun. by TheFury: 12:02pm On Sep 27, 2014 |
There is a fine line between a novel and its big screen adaptation. One can't get a complete represntation of the novel. That would be overreaching. That been said, this movie had some problems. For a novel adaptation, the movie was to loose, rushed and weakly knitted. At some point the movie felt like a stage performance. The director shifted from scene to scene without taking into account that a lot of persons don't read. Ergo; a lot of persons had never read the novel. The set design and costumes were very nice. But the plot of the movie was weak. The Kano scene was unforgivable. Especially the riot scene. The same group of persons kept running around that one street to give it a chaotic look. That was strike two. The characters of Odenigbo(Chiwetel) and the actress that played Kainene were very good. They interepreted the xters from the novel quite well. Especially Kainene. Thandiw Newton had NO business being in this movie. Her performance hurt my eyes and sensibilities. Her igbo wasn't even passable and the Olanna from the novel is nothing like what the movie showed. American movie producers take time to train their actors to learn juijitsu, or russian or how to ride a bike. They commit to the art. They really could have taken their time with this movie. Also, in trying to avoid causing "outrage" cos of some of the ethno-religious themes of the story from the novel, they slashed and edited the movie heavily. The airport scene where Nnemeka got shot, the Nigerian soldiers were speaking french!......that scene was terrible. From the uniforms to Thandiow Newton's pronunciation of "kedu"(to think that she was even correcting someone else. The novel said they lived in Nigeria all their lives Olanna and Kainene, before going abroad for a few years to study. One's accent doesn't become so british) it was poor. The xter of Okeoma was the biggest misfire for me. The person in the movie was sort of heavy, slow, and very uncharismatic. They should have left him out altogether. Ugwu, Onyeka Owenu, and Zack Orji performances were okay however short. In all.....the movie wasn't bad(some folks complained that they didn't even know if it was about the civil war or just a story about people set around the war era) It isn't a spectacular movie tho....just somewhere in that area of ordinary that isn't exciting or distasteful. That's my take. P.S: Genevive was just there, I think that's another area movie makers need to adress. This movie would have been a lot better if they took time to find suitable actors with talent(Nigerian or other Africans) to work on the roles. Ugwu isn't sexually drawn to his madam o.....he likes her as a gentle and kind woman. But from the book u will notice Ugwu is quite preoocupied with sexual exploration. 1 Like |

[quote author=SIRcumalot]I don't see how Hashirama can fight sasgay or Naruto those two are only a few steps behind the Sage and even that is arguable For all the super smarts that Shikamaru's father had,at the end of the day he just became number among the numerous people killed by Madara sad part is Madara didn't even know he killed somebody important. As cersei Lannister said "power is power" ...Its quite Ironic thatyou mentioned Cersei, seeing as she is one of the quintessence of what ultimate power without experience or sense can do to someone... when she usurped the iron throne, became the sole ruler of westros, she faced rebellion from the people, her own court and even Jamie abandoned her to the judgement of the Seven. WHY?.....read the book, it was stated clearly, that her lifelong philosophy of ultimate power crumbled because when she finally had it, she had no idea how to use it..she had no experience with governance, moving troops or managing the finance of the throne. Power isn't enough, knowing what to do with power is a better ideal. 1 Like |

Tosyn007: Ultimate power does not traslate to invincibility. If you read up Orochimaru for example and notice him in the series, one of Orochimaru's weaknesses is Arrogance due to having a wide range of jutsus to use(power).it cost him dearly. Having an immesurable amount of power can make u arrogant, sloppy and stupid. Lemme deviate a little. In Rurouni Kenshin, Sanousuke fought Anji the destroy who was more powerful but Sanou won cos he had more experience with fightingthose sort of battles. Someone who has two high frequency blades like Raiden's will loose to someone weilding a metal rod if the former has no clue on HOW to use his power against a particular opponent. Sasuke with all his new abilities will not beat Hashirama cos no matter how skilled or powerful Sasuke has become, The First will out maneouver him cos Hashi has more fighting time against Sharingan users. Sasuke on the other hand has never fought a Shinobi of Hashi's level. He will fire blanks irrespective of power. Remember Naruto ad Kabuto's fight alongside Tsunade and Orochimaru respectively? Kabuto with all his skill level and power(Oro's protege, compared to Kakashi) was beaten by Naruto cos Naruto @ this point(despite being a genin) beat him cos Naruto had the experience of being in a fight where the odds were stacked against him. He knew that going toe to toe, pound for pound won't win it, quick thinking would. Why do you think Hanzo was impressed enough to give those three the title of the legendary Sanin?.....The simple fact that Jiraya could withstand pein that much for the first and last time is testament to his abilities from years of battle experiences. What do you think would have happened if Jiraya had fore knowledge of pein?? Shikamaru has beaten far more stronger foes than himself..why? Its not always about power. Batman is a mere human, but many metahumans fear him. Peace. 6 Likes |

[quote author=Tosyn007] That's sarcasm.. Hahahaha...he lost the fight but won the war... ...keep trying... So as we speak he's at the bottom of the ocean jubilating eh? That's not sarcasm, that's a paradoxical statement. Jiraya even in death 'won' against pein. Its the same principle in a battle of attrition or in rare phyrric victories. Jiraya was able to withstand a very powerful foe(one he had never fought before), the information he passed along from his deduction about pein no matter how minute aided Naruto and the others to defeat pein. Try and understand what he trying to say, Jiraya really did loose the battle but he won the war. |
TV/Movies / Re: Top 10 Most Powerful Super Heroes. by TheFury: 8:36pm On Sep 20, 2014 |
If you know anything about super powered heroes or xters and I mean REALLY know......you will have a list like this; 1. Silver Surfer: He is about the most powerful hero ever, he has the power cosmic, which enables him to do just about aything, as powerful as Superman is, he will lose to the Surfer...Superman is as strong as he needs to be...Doomsday tested the limits of his strength and we know how that played out...Silver surfer has super strength, genius level intellect, super speed, time travel, matter manipulation, projection and absorptio of various types of energy, telepathy telekenesis, gifted with the power cosmic which increases his power immensely. Darkseid would fall in a battle against him 2. Superman: Well we all know what the kryptonian can do, most folks feel he is the most powerful ever, with good reason, but there are folks who would trump him. He is weak against magic(Dr Strange could take him then...and Strange has been as powerful as Uatu The Watcher), he is weak against kryptonite, for those who say kryptonite is hard to get true, but the Surfer can either get it from matter transmutation or time travel. 3. The Sentry: This guy ordinarily should be No 1, I am placing him in 3 for the reason that he is a little mad and marvel comic book writers haven't really shown what he can really do(a little in the events of World War Hulk). This guy comes with everything you can think of in a super hero from super strength to having a dark side...infact he is much too powerful for his own good...the man with the power of a thousand exploding suns has been hinted to be some sort of manifestation of God's divine ultimate power. 4. Dr Manhattan: terribly powerful, but he suffers from something a little similar to the sentry's dilemma. Dr Jon Osterman, can time travel, teleport through worlds and even galaxies, he can percieve and manipulate matter at a subatomic level, he experiences the three aspects of time simultaneously, equally super strong, powerful telepath and telekinetic. The problem with the blue man is that he suffers from apathy(some1 mentioned o this thread that the Silver Surfer suffers same, that's wrong!...the Surfer is deeply interested in earth and other life forms) and if you can get a burst of tachyon particles around him, it distorts his visions. Forgot to mention he is clairvoyant. 5. The Phoenix: Jean Grey of the Xmen was possessed by a cosmic entity of immesurable powerful and she became the living embodiment of the phoenix force. As the phoenix, she effortlesly destroyed an entire star system in the "Dark Phoenix Saga" DR Manhattan and Superman would pause before trying to take on this xter, even then they may not triumph...very unlikely. The Phoenix can do whatever it so desires, teleportation, open worm holes, warp reality, etc problem is the phoenix force needs a host, and the character, mind and strength of will of the given host can affect the outcome of the phoenix's power. 6. Thor: The thunderer himself...now for those of you who keep on saying he is nothing without his hammer, pls stop! Its an erreneous notion propergated by comic book writers and artists who keep on representing the Norse god as relying on Mjonir. The Hammer primarily Channels and Magnifies his strength and power, yes! It has its own powers, but Thor ca very well destroy an entire planet with just his fists(yes!, he can). Thor has; super strength, longevity, super speed(he has caught the Silver Surfer before), teleportation, telekenesis, not aa able telepath but his asgardian heritage makes his mind pretty difficult to attack, he can alter reality, he can time travel, open worm holes, can control the elements, lightning, rain, hail, storms etc. In reality, Thor's power level places him at par with Superman if not a step higher. The problem with him like the Sentry and Manhattan, he has been toned down by cartoon and movie representation so much so that fairly powerful xters best him. 7. The Hulk: The question here is how strong and angry can he get. The hulk is the personification of strength itself, plus a healing factor that is the best I comic book world.(For those who say Wolverine heals better, lie!...wolverine heals better that Deadpool but not The Hulk). The Hulk has beaten nearly every hero of marvel universe once, he has held his own against Galactus The Devourer Of Worlds, Silver Surfer, Sentry, Black Bolt, even Superman. This dude has forced the tectonic plates of the earth back into position, he has physically stopped juggernaut in his tracks through sheer force(one of only two persons to do that). I DC universe, Superman is the only real threat I see to the Hulk. Maybe Darkside and The Spectre. Those who say Wonder Woman will beat Hulk are dreaming. Wonder Woman couldn't beat Doomsday, Mongul or Darkside(forget that jaundiced representation in Justice league:War). Hulk will Most def beat Doomsday and Doomsday beat Superman. So puuleasse, Give the Jade Giant his due as one of the best. The Hulk can survive in space, can emitt high levels of heat and can smash up a world!!!(The Elders Of The Universe in Marvel oce remarked that "the hulk is a threat to the universe) 8.Green Latern: For those of you who always place this dude no1 or above hulk or superman or thor or even diana, think again. Sit down and analyse. The green lantern persona is only as powerful as his/her will. The ring is only as powerful as the wearer. While the ring can do anything the wearer can visualize, it needs recharging constantly which is a huge drawback. A few lanterns have drawn ernomous amonuts of will power that they didn't eve need to charge. The ring can be powerless against the colour yellow if the yellow impurity of Parallax the embodiment of fear happens to be imprisoned in the central pwer battery. Not absolute tho. Jon Stewart, Kyle Rayner, Guy Garder or the legendary Hal Jordan can use the ring to augument their strength, fly, project energy blasts, creat hard light constructs that can be used for a great many things. The green Lantern cannot time travel. He can open passages to another dimension with enough strength of will. Problem with him again is that a being who has enough will power can pummel him; The hulk, Superman, Thor, Silver Surfer, Darkside, Doomsday, Thanos, etc. There are quite a number of them. 9.Wonder Woman: well, I think she deserves a place on this list. Cos she is strong enough to go toe to toe with Supes, Darkside, Hulk, Zod, Ares, etc. She has Super strength, stamina, resilient, logevity almost immortal, bracelets that are indestructable and her lasso of truth. There are quite a number of powerful female heroines like Ms Marvell, Big Barda, Gamorra, Super girl, Power girl etc. Wonder Woman trumps them all(but she may lose to super girl). I don't see her beating Hulk or sentry(next to impossible) she may give Thor ad Supes a hard time cos theyhold back a lot. 10. Iron Man and Batman Tie in: They both extremely smart and intelligent, they both very rich and they both ordinary humans. That's where the similarities end. While Tony Stark is a playboy, eccentric, doesn't follow orders, and reckless, Bruce Wayne is cold, dark, cunning, a tactician, grim and methodical. Batman has something that most xters on this list lack. The will to do what is necessary to win. He doesn't kill but can kill if he is pushed to. A brilliant martial artist and arsenal of gadets, he is one of two xters who have eveded the omega beams of darkside and escaped the omega sanction of it. If you want to win a battle without glitches, have a Batman in your camp. Iron man, his suits are very powerful, they grat him flight, strength, force fields, and energy projection from the repulsor rays. Plus he is one of the smartest minds in Comic book world. Second oly to Reed Richards. Hank pym and Bruce wayne make the cut too. That's my list of the best, from xter anaysis and all. But let me point out that this list focuses o goodguys followig the thread topic. "HEROES". If I were to include VILLAINS, Many persons would drop 3levels or four on this list. THANOS I my opinion is the closest thing to ultimate power. Uatu The Watcher should be the most powerful, but cos he stays outside the sphere of men, Darkside, Galactus, etc are some xters who are the big shotsm even forgot Black Bolt. |
