Read this post by seiraries: https://www.nairaland.com/2557850/travelling-canada-part-9/198#41016878 The short answer is yes, it will raise a red flag. The long answer is that the red flag may not lead to a delay if and only if you can convince the VO why. siegfried99: |

You have your work cut out for you. If it helps, my previous post may serve as a guide. Also, I recommend you read posts by individuals such as @Team12 @tnuola @HayqinsbFX @montrealer @Onyeoma3 @ayooluwatoni @thesoj... etc. Critically reading Parts 7 and/or Part 8 should provide you with most of the insights you need though. Cheers. Blackkie: 1 Like |

Blackkie: If I were in your shoes (and given that I don't know anything about your application about from what you stated here), I would read at least one or two parts of the thread (e.g. Part 7 and/or Part 8 ). Seriously. Learning about other people's stories and strategies can be immensely beneficial. I personally read all of Parts 5-9 in order to maximize my siblings' TRV chances (tho I initially only read one part over two or three weeks and then over two months did the rest). Also, if I were in your shoes I would brainstorm "what could I do in my next application that would make it easy for the VO to see all of my documents?". You might have to think about different ways to organize or tag the documents you submit e.g. referring to other documents in your SOP and any other submitted document that you wrote, including a Table of Contents that is clear and easy to follow, etc. Also, if I were in your shoes I would brainstorm to ask myself "why do I want to study XYZ course in Canada?". I would temporarily ignore the fact that I may also like to enjoy life in Canada after I graduate but would think about what I would/could do in Nigeria with my Canada education. I would think very aspirationally about this and come up with a specific plan of action of what I want to do in Naija with that Canada education and how my experience and age give me a real-world strategic advantage to implement this (compared to younger people without experience on their side). I would also consider "Do I have enough strategic proof (that I can present to a VO) to buttress the real-world experience that I say would give me a advantage to implement my post-Canada-education plans?". If I can come up with convincing responses to the above, then I would package my application accordingly -- making sure that my application is an easily digestible story that straightfowardly conveys all my convincing reasons -- and reapply. If not, then I won't waste my money. But you will need to be pragmatic, objective, and stone-cold rational to pull this off. Doing all this will take you likely a month or two or more (depending on how introspective you are). You might have to write down your thoughts on these everyday, and then evaluate them all at a later date, and possibly in conjunction with one or two other stone-cold rational persons. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Just explain that you have been working and describe the work very briefly. Pretty much whatever explanation is both true and rationally jives with the rest of your application and documents. Think of your whole application as a story. Every sentence and detail in your application should reinforce the story of your application. loriaidah: 2 Likes 1 Share |

The bolded can't be true. Several applicants on the thread got their TRVs even after having been out of school for five years or more. Every candidate is different and unique... VOs are not idiots so visas are likely adjudicated on a case-by-case basis as long as certain basic conditions are met. But given that you are 40-years old going for a PGD/Diploma, you are a complex applicant and the burden of proof is solely on you to prove to the VO that this is not just a desperate ploy to flee Nigeria. They will not grant visas to people who might stay back illegally in Canada after the end of an authorized stay. You will have to flat out think like a VO and flat out state why you want to pursue whatever program in spite of your age & education gap. You have to dispel any doubt that you know will likely arise in the mind of the VO. Your work is cut out for you, although you should also be pragmatic and evaluate if you indeed can convince the VO (with proof). The ball is in your court. Blackkie: 2 Likes 1 Share |

Hmm... there are different opinions on what to fill in Funds Available. But my main thought is that whatever you fill here should match the amount(s) on your sponsorship letter and should NOT be more than what's on your sponsor's bank statement (tho there may be exceptions). So, for example, if your sponsorship letter specifies that s/he/they will drop C$30k per year for your two year program, then you could put C$60k (i.e. 2*C$30k) for funds available as long as your sponsor has much more than C$60k in the account (you will explain this funds available amount in your SOP or a very brief document that explains your finances). If your sponsor is a parent then it's ok to put the total bank statement amount as funds available. If your sponsor is not a parent and the bank statement is more than C$30k but less than C$60k then it's ok to write C$30k (CIC only requires you to show proof of one year of funding, tho in this case they need strong proof that your sponsor will continue to have enough funds to fund your future years). Basically, the rule of thumb is that your application/sponsorship/finances should be effortless to rationally understand. ikem01: |

If your scanned documents (especially the financial ones) are blurry, then either you need to come up with a better scanning/compression strategy, or use the paper route. With Adobe Acrobat Pro, it is a bit easier to convert documents to PDF without losing too much quality, assuming you directly scanned the files to TIFF or TIF format (scanned at 300dpi) in the first place. After converting TIF/TIFF to PDF you can further compress the file by re-distilling it, a process which removes unnecessary junk data that doesn't help image quality. This works like magic, sometimes shrinking the size by 90% (depending on the distill quality setting chosen) without losing much quality! Nonetheless, from your previous postings the main issue I see is that a company is sponsoring you yet they didn't give a convincing reason why. VOs are smart and mostly rational; anything that doesn't make sense will cast considerable doubt on the credibility of your application, thus likely leading to a denial. Fix your sponsorship issue. ikem01: 3 Likes 1 Share |

Use http://matrix.itasoftware.com/ to searh for flights over a range of dates. This software is what travel agents use. I did a quick search for flights to Winnipeg and I see it is consistently above N400k. But a trick you can use is to book a flight to Toronto using Egypt Air, and then book another separate flight from Toronto to Winnipeg. A one-way via Egypt Air from Lagos to Toronto on Dec 27th is N180k. A one-way from Toronto to Winnipeg on Dec 28 is (300CAD). The total estimate using this strategy is N180k+N45k=N225k. I see your point about not wanting to fly thru Egypt, but it is not really a hot zone. obiscolly: 3 Likes 3 Shares |

Documentation alone is not enough to prove ties to Nigeria. Many applicants use so many documents in the name of packaging but don't tell their personal story/narrative to tie all the documents together. A very well-written SOP can help the VO to understand why you would return to Naija. The SOP is a very strong yet often underestimated device. By the way, a bad SOP with incoherent points and grammatical errors is worse than not having an SOP. Jayne07: 1 Like |

At the rate of 20 pages per day, you should be done with it in nine days. This should get you started. You may then read Part 8 at your own pace after you have applied for admission and are preparing to apply for TRV. Read read read. It will benefit you greatly. No one will spoonfeed you. Since July 2015 denials after medicals has been more common, particularly around application "rush hour" periods. My qualitative observation is that denials after medicals during rush hour periods is approximately the same as denials before medicals during off-peak periods. It is difficult to assign a probability to this rate, given that we don't have that much data yet as the trend is a new one. My advice is that future applicants should consider a "medicals passed" notice to be a neutral change which doesn't mean that their applications are likely to be approved. iykedare: |

So sorry about your delay. No one has responded because these issues have been tackled repeatedly and tiresomely. Read the thread, my friend. These delay issues are tackled at least once every 10-15 pages. You can't expect people to repeatedly state the same thing over and over again; this defeats the purpose of the thread. Also, how can you expect people to help you tackle your issues when you provided no personalized information about your application? smh. BlackXtar: |

Option 1: Copy the title of the publication and paste into Google. For instance, you would paste the following: "exact title of paper" filetype:pdf This would show you results of wherever on the web a PDF copy of that paper has been uploaded. Option 2: Send the title of the paper(s) to any student in Canada (e.g. sholay2011) and s/he should the able to download it for you using their school's subscription to journal databases. Option 3: Email the paper author(s) directly and ask them for a copy of the paper. Most would oblige. Option 4: Send the title of the paper(s) to me and I may be able to access it but I can't guarantee that. I mostly have access to journal papers in a certain category of scientific research, but we'll see. ganiyuadeoye: 1 Like |

You are taking a huge risk! Basically, your agents will be forging these documents for you (including a bank statement??!!!)?? Wow, just don't come back here gloomy when the embassy bans you after finding out. You would also be automatically banned from the USA (Canada shares immigration info with USA), and possibly all EU countries. Remember that Nigeria is now a "terrorist" country so no country will take a chance with a Nigerian visa applicant that was once found out to have forged documents. You can get your TRV without an employment letter or significant savings, though this is the much more difficult yet more sensible & honest route. You would have to prove to the VO what you have been doing (hopefully you were self-employed and not idle) since you finished your previous education qualification, with lots of credible verifiable proof. You would have to show your passion and link that passion with your self-employment and future ambition. Your sponsor could transfer your annual total fees into your personal account and you would submit that as your SOA, your sponsor's SOA would also be submitted and you both would clearly state that s/he transferred the money to your account for your annual expenses. Also, your SOP would have to be in the 99th percentile of SOPs. You would have to be very dedicated and perfectionist to pull off this "no-employment letter & no-savings" strategy but is is entirely possible! This is exactly how my brother got his TRV. You can go through this post, and my related previous posts. I will post the documents he submitted and our strategy soon; it was all 100% honest and fully transparent, though it was very time-consuming to put together. Also, don't see this Canada visa thing as do-or-die. Consider another country as a backup plan. For my brother, we were processing Germany simultaneously so we weren't scared of the Canada outcome. He got admission to his MSc course of choice in Germany and had booked a German student visa booking appointment when we were pleasantly surprised with his Canada TRV. Tuition is free in Germany, and many MSc programs are in English. My two cents. ecclesiaok: 8 Likes 2 Shares |
