Zionplace: Congrats in advance. @the bolded text: unfortunately I think what's happening on the thread is a Pareto Rule situation -- a minority of the users answer a majority of the questions, while a majority of the users do not give back at all; they just ask questions or read the thread but rarely share information to help other people. As a result, only a few people are left with answering questions; this is why your questions weren't all immediately answered. 2 Likes |

@TempusQ, how far? Did you reapply? |

Your GCMS is self-explanatory. Here are the biggest takeaways. In the eyes of the VO: 1. You did not provide a compelling reason to study in Canada 2. It makes no sense why you would spend so much money to go to Canada particularly when there are similar courses in Nigeria (same as point 1, just in different words) 3. Your application raises suspicions that you are likely using the study permit route primarily to emigrate... as in, the VO doesn't think you are a genuine student (same as point 1, just in different words) 4. Your limited travel history, limited family ties to Naija, and youth buttress the VO's suspicions about your intent. All these show that in the eyes of the VO you did not sufficiently and convincingly demonstrate your purpose of visit. The burden of proof is solely on you. Even if you had the best documents but you didn't help the VO to make sense of them, then best believe the VO will not understand your story and may give you the dreaded "Purpose of Visit" checkmark. Now that you have this very telling GCMS, you know what to do. NaD720: |

Wow, so sorry to hear that. Hmm... ok. Did you submit paper or online? If online, do you still have an original copy of the bank statement you scanned? If you still have a copy, then go to the bank with the statement and get them to write a supporting letter asserting the originality of the statement. The letter from the bank accompanying the statement should contain a bank stamp and signature from an accounts officer or bank manager or something similar. The letter should refer to details in said statement (owner of account, account number, date account was opened, balance as of date of statement, etc). The letter should contain contact details such as the direct phone number and email of the person who writes and signs it. CIC will likely contact the person for additional verification. The letter has to be well-worded by the bank, and on bank letterhead. Do not take this lightly. If paper submission, do you have another original copy of the bank statement? If yes, follow same instructions above. This would help you avoid having to print a new statement. If you don't have another original copy of the bank statement you submitted, do you have a photocopy or scanned version of it? If yes, then follow same instructions above but also have the bank stamp that copy as a certified true copy. All CIC wants is for you to prove the authenticity of the statement you submitted. Let me know if any of the options above is possible. You are welcome to PM me if any of the details is personal. acolad: 9 Likes 1 Share |

You are one lucky person. In many cases, CIC would have already denied the applicant (for "insufficient funds" ) once there are questions about the sufficiency or authenticity of the submitted financial documents. In any case, you haven't provided enough information in order for us to know how to respond to your question. What were the concerns stated by CIC? What is the content of the mail (just summarize it for us)? acolad: 2 Likes |

If you take less than C$10k cash with you, you'll have nothing to worry about. With C$10k or more, you have to report it to Canada Border Services Agency. ugonnachimezie54: 3 Likes 1 Share |

waltwissle:Passport request after "medicals passed" is not a guarantee; CIC now also issues denials after medicals. Be patient. Be bothered only if your application processing has taken longer than 8 weeks. |

Cheei bros, I finally got around to reading this. Excellent bro. You've got mad skillz mehn! I was able to easily create mental imagery of the scenes while reading every line, which is a mark of your astute writing. Nice one. You should consider turning some of these your works into actual films. You have great talent. 1 Like |

Bros, I'm confused at your question. Did you try entering the tracking number in your post into the VFS tracking page? Which tracking number have you been using? Zionplace: |

You don't always need a medical form to do medicals (although I'm aware that some people receive a medical form from CIC). People who do upfront medicals do it without a form from CIC. Take your passport with you and provide whichever hospital you go to with your CIC number (First Consultants in Ikoyi comes to mind). They will give you a form after your medicals. The hospital will send your results to CIC, and if you did online route you could upload said form. olamitunposi: |

You don't need to use an agent. See this post, and view this document. Also, use Google to fill in the gaps or read from page 1 of Part 9 of this thread meticulously. Estimate how long it would take you to gather all the required documents, and then determine if to defer or not. You should be able to do said estimation within a week, if you carefully and critically go through all the links above. Best of luck. bodeblaq: 1 Like |

slutky:I am sorry to hear about your delay. Your best bet is to reapply, not appeal. In the eyes of CIC, granting you a TRV is not a right but a privilege. That you attached a certain combination of documents to your application doesn't mean that the VO is obligated to approve your application. From the VO's perspective, your application was refused because "you have not satisfied [him/her] that you would leave Canada during the end of an authorized stay" thus he/she ticked the three reasons in your post to buttress this point. This means that the burden of proof is solely on you to demonstrate however you can that you have reasons to return to Nigeria if at some point you can't stay legally in Canada anymore. I would strongly recommend you start by reading from page 1 of Part 9 to get a better understanding of how you could best repackage and refire. This may require you to defer your admission, as I would not recommend rushing to reapply and then be denied again. You should include a well-written SOP in your app, to explain why Canada, why a graduate certificate program and not an MSc? what do you plan to use the graduate certificate for in Naija? etc etc. I strongly encourage you to read the thread, particularly if you can read the whole of Part 6 or 7 or 8. 2 Likes |

Make sure you have a printout of your mail to the school as well as their response to you on hand or in your hand luggage, so that you can provide it to any grumpy POE officer that tries to hassle you about having not registered. As long as you are confident in your responses, with proof, you will be fine. Paying half tuition is good, so long as you have some documentation on you showing means of finances to pay the rest (this is probably not mandatory, but I suggest it just to reduce risk). You will be fine bros/sis. It is likely that you won't meet a grumpy POE officer, in which case you won't even have to deal with any of this. My advice is based on the worst case scenario. lamama1: 2 Likes 1 Share |

Not a big deal. Have your flight ticket from Toronto to BC purchased before you leave Naija, and make sure you have the confirmation with you so you can show the POE officers in case they ask you. Also, register for classes and pay for tuition before leaving Naija so you can show that as proof to the POE officers. If you do all these, then you will be fine. lamama1: 1 Like 1 Share |

@ChicoBoy @sholay2011 you are welcome. @ajaereogechi by doing a google search I found that on June 21st @wayaa007 also asked the same question about whoever was going to Georgian College. @inconnu also asked the same question on May 2. You could ask either of them. 4 Likes |
