Stupid fake tradition to extort money

The people should be arrested and dealt with ruthlessly undecided undecided undecided

One reason I believe they couldn't do much to reject the demands is that akwaibomites themselves can be very dogmatic with traditions and rites. If it happened in akwa ibom, the victims family will face the same.

Ps. I'm not in support or against whatever happened. I'm very much indifferent to it. I'm just giving my opinion as to why they might have gone along with the situation.

You have a great sense.

I just realized that if you buy a Toyota car and it crashes, that Toyota should fix it for you.

That's not the an equal analogy though.

If you were employed by a company and while at work, the building collapses and you manage to survive with a broken leg, shouldn't your employer be responsible for your treatment?

They will abandon the fight and leave their territory at the first sight of danger.

Strong things rather will fight to the death.

Nothing will make and american or German abandon their land to your country. Black men are weak no wonder they are generally regarded as lefties withing the context of American politics

If you read the article, you will find that these lions first japa. They came back to reclaim the territory.

This is what makes lion the king, endurance. Others would have run away from the challenge, but he chose to die in honour than back off. This is what the life of male lion is all about, fighting against fellow male dominant lions to protect their territory. Respect.

If the two brothers had waited and died earlier, would they be able to come back and reclaim their territory?

No be everytime you suppose fight. Sometimes japa first, come back later when you don dey better prepared.

so no need for borehole but she's paying 5k to go outside to go and fetch.
At the same time she will appreciate the bad job borehole project peter obi did for the poor community.

Like do you know how insane you sound right now?

The borehole peter obi built, if it was done in your grandma community, is it going to be attached to your grandma's compoundand be pumping water for her like water cooperation? or is she not going to carry bucket to that borehole to fetch water like she has been doing?

In the process of trying to pander for cheap likes on nairaland, you mocked your dead grandma.

What is nairaland likes worth to your miserable life?

That part tire me. Just for likes he brought his grandma into a discuss that she has no business with. Worse still, he tried to justify it with even more stupid talk.

We should have 30days holidays in a year.

Cause we 13month in a year.

Do your math well, you're working extra one month freeπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Unfortunately, if you did the math very well, you'd find that for a 13 month calender, each month will have 28 days. Hence a 30 day holiday because of a 'free month" doest add up.

Do you mean to tell me that Nigerian public holidays are not up to 11days
Mehn at least I'm enlightened by this thread. Ordinarily one would think Nigerian public holidays are up to 20days with the way holidays are declared.

They are more than 20 days with the pattern we use..but the holiday itself is 11.

Most of our holidays are often celebrated over two days.

There people that drink and smoke a lot, up until their old age, and some people might be careful with what goes into their mouth, but would suffer a big health challenge, that could take their life, even before age 40.

China targets resource-rich countries and they later leverage on the fact you cannot meet the terms of repayment to acquire access to your resources under very cheap and at times completely free rates.

They plunder your bio-diversity and ship everything back to their country, and your debt still remains unpaid. 21st-century colonialism.

Meanwhile wild gorillas are demonstrably more humane than the majority of Black men

China's debt to the United States as at January 2023 was about $859,400,000,000.
China's debt is denominated in US dollars, euros, and Japanese yen.
In 2023, China's gross external debt was $2.38 trillion, and its debt-to-GDP ratio reached a record 288%.

That's us debt to china. Not Chinese debt to USA.

Simple... If you truly apply P.A.Y.E tax policies and enforce them, the wealthy and top earners will pay more taxes since they earn more.

In the absence of corruption and embezzlement, proper use of the generated funds to provide amenities will make life balanced and easier for everyone.

This system works for Canada, Australia, England, and some other top nations.

In Nigeria, most high-income earners barely pay up to 5% monthly taxes... A lot of profit-generating organizations evade taxes successfully every year.

That's why some of you Nigerians making money in Nigeria dislike and grumble about the system abroad when you relocate there...!

1. PAYE would also mean that the poor will be taxed from their already meagre income.

2. In the absence of corruption....there is an abundance of corruption.

3. It is fallacious to say high income earners barely pay tax here. Most high income earners in Nigeria work for multinationals. There's. I way they wouldn't be paying tax. It's people in unregulated industries that escape easily without paying tax and most of them aren't high income earners.

Government needs to widen the taxs net and stop making life difficult for the poor masses with anti people policies. Our tax to GDP ratio tells you there are too many evaders and stealers of tax along the chain of collection. You can't jack up power rate suddenly by over 400% in a country where the middle class has disappeared due to hardship. Most people live from hand to mouth such sudden change means financial crisis for many.
how is a wider tax net in favor of the poor?

Please, you people should stop this propaganda already. The man was a casualty of the Arab Spring that brought down a lot of Arab governments and the way he was trying to use the military to crush his own led to a civil war, the same way Syria's own has also led to a 12-year old war.

You are the one who is spreading propaganda.

USA NATO went into Iraq to save the people from sadam's oppression, the result was that USA created military bases in the oil regions. Shipping out oil steadily unquestioned

USA flies in to save syrians from a civil it orchestrated and sponsors. Today it occupies a third of Syria and yes that third is the oil and wheat producing area if Syria

NATO again flies into Libya to rescue the people from their leader, a few years later, British petroleum and she'll gets control of Libyan oil.

My sincere hope is that you are getting paid for spreading propaganda.

What the post is saying is that before you can enter the UK on a skilled work visa, you must get a job that pays a MINIMUM of Β£38,700 instead of the old requirement of Β£26,200. This means it's now harder to enter the UK via work visa route as a foreigner!

Too many people like those you quoted are on nairaland. They will go with deceptive headlines and beat their chest about like they have the full information. It's one of the reasons nairaland is less appealing to me these days.

Each Governor is the Chief security officer of their respective states as the Constitution of 1999 clearly depicts, that is why they are given security votes money every month, the president is the commander in chief of the armed forces, as the constitution clearly states, those are 2 different languages used.

Please go back and study, & stop assuming nonsense to justify your ignorance.

I will give you 10,000 naira if you can mention a section of the 1999 constitution that confers chief security of the state on the governor.

They don’t want to use what is in their skull to reason, just blame Bola Tinubu and be alright.

The last time I checked, delta is a state in Nigeria. Also Tinubu is the chief security officer of Nigeria. Part of the revenue that feeds the federal government also comes from Delta state.

One of the major justification of the revenue that the federal government receives would be the provision of security. This isn't too difficult to understand.
