Romance / Why Women Want To Meet In Public & Why Men Need To Respect This by tkgz(m): 3:01am On Jul 12, 2020
Invited your crush over for a little Netflix and Chill, but she insisted on going out? Well, here are the real reasons why women want to meet in public.

As a woman who has been on the dating scene for quite some time, I have always found it curious how guys are so shocked when I insist on meeting in public. Men, stop and consider why women want to meet in public.

Whether it is the first time we’re meeting from a dating app or the third date, so many men seem to not understand where women are coming from in the dating world. I once had a guy say, “What’s the worst that could happen? We don’t get along? At least we’ll learn something.”

The thing is, that isn’t true for most women and some men. Most men can go into a first date, invite a girl over to their place, and think the worst that happens is she doesn’t like me. But, the female perspective here is very different.

[Read: Getting Over Rejection: How to Bounce Back in No Time]

It isn’t about you

Whenever I told a guy I wanted to meet in public and not have him pick me up, he almost always insists. Perhaps it is supposed to be the sign of a gentleman. For many women, it is a red flag.

If I haven’t met you, I don’t want you to know where I live. And it isn’t because I think he is a creep. If I did, I wouldn’t be meeting him.

Women wanting to meet in public isn’t necessarily about not trusting you, it is based on our fear of all men. Yes, not all men are dangerous or creepy, but as women, we must take extra precautions. You would be surprised how many women you know or have dated that carry mace, hold their keys between their fingers in case they need a weapon, and tell multiple people where they are meeting you.

Whenever I went on a date with someone I met online, I made sure to tell multiple people where I’d be, that I’d let them know when I got there, and when I was leaving. And I was sure to give them my date’s full name.

This may seem like overkill to you, but to most women, it is just our way of feeling safe. Whether our conversations are amazing or not, there is always a risk. I once tried to explain this to someone. I said the worst that might happen for you is that we don’t get along, but for me, it could be rape, murder, kidnapping, etc.

He thought I was being paranoid and expected me to trust him when he said, “Well, I’m not a murderer.” As if that isn’t exactly what a murderer would say. Either way it wasn’t about him. [Read: 11 Tips to Fall in Love with Yourself and be a Better YOU]

Anytime I have taken these precautions it hasn’t been because of the guy, but my past experiences, stories from other women, and just the statistics of crimes against women.

I know that it can seem like like a put off when a woman insists on driving herself to a date or doesn’t want to come over for a home-cooked meal, but it has nothing to do with you. Don’t take it personally. If she wasn’t interested, she wouldn’t be going through this to meet you.

This isn’t paranoia or expecting the worst. It is being realistic. Women being attacked by strangers is a real possibility and a real fear. No matter how trustworthy you seem, even if you’ve video-chatted and she knows you’re not cat-fishing her, it doesn’t change the facts.

Women are always at greater risk.

Why women want to meet in public

I’m sure, or at least I hope, you get the gist. Here are a few more details about why women want to meet in public, just in case you think this sort of planning is too much.

Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard, has admitted that his side could miss out from the Premier League top four this season following their 3-0 defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday night.

Sheffield defeated Lampard’s men at Bramall Lane, thanks to David McGoldrick’s brace and a strike from Oli McBurnie.

The defeat means Chelsea is in the third position on the Premier League table with 60 points after 35 games.

The Blues will drop to the fifth position if Leicester City beat Bournemouth on Sunday and Manchester United defeat Southampton on Monday.

“That is the reality (that we could be out of the top four). Today I am concerned about how we performed. I am not thinking about position, just the way we play. We can’t approach the rest of our games like today,” Lampard told Sky Sports.

Foreign Affairs / Can Trump Actually Ban Tiktok In The U.S.? It’s Complicated by tkgz(m): 3:34am On Jul 10, 2020
President Trump this week mused about barring the popular short video app TikTok, which has reportedly been downloaded over 165 million times in the U.S.

His comments came a day after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo floated such a ban as part of an escalating trade war with China. TikTok is owned by Beijing-based ByteDance, and critics warn that the Chinese government can spy on its users.

But while the Trump administration has talked about “banning” TikTok, it’s unclear how exactly such a ban would be carried out. Any sort of decree ordering people not to use the app would likely be unconstitutional—and would be met with resistance from millions of Americans, especially young ones, for whom TikTok has become a form of cultural expression.

According to lawyers at the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), a digital rights group, Trump’s pledge to ban TikTok may reflect bluster more than any sort of coherent policy.

Kurt Opsahl, general counsel of EFF, says the White House could attempt tactics such as barring federal workers from using TikTok or preventing federal money from being spent on the app. A more aggressive approach, he suggests, could involve using export regulations to require U.S. companies to obtain a license to do business with TikTok.

For practical purposes, such a licensing requirement would likely target Apple and Google, whose app stores are where the vast majority of people get the TikTok app in the first place.

Celebrities / ‘glee’ Actress Naya Rivera Is Presumed Dead After Disappearing At A Lake by tkgz(m): 3:11am On Jul 10, 2020
Glee” actress Naya Rivera is presumed dead after disappearing at a lake in Southern California, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

“We’re presuming that an accident happened and we’re presuming she drowned in the lake,” Deputy Chris Dyer said at a news conference Thursday.

Search and rescue efforts for the actress have now shifted to a recovery operation, Dyer said.

“The goal is still to bring Miss Rivera home to her family,” he said.

Rivera, 33, vanished from Lake Piru on Wednesday evening. She went to the lake that afternoon and rented a pontoon boat with her 4-year-old son, according to authorities.

Dyer said Thursday that the boat was overdue for return around 4 p.m. local time. A rental employee found the boat on the north end of Lake Piru.

Rivera’s son was on the boat, but she was nowhere to be found, Dyer said. One life jacket was found on the boat and the boy was wearing another. Investigators found Rivera’s purse and her identification, but no other clues on the boat.

Search efforts began immediately and continued until about 10 p.m. Wednesday. The search resumed Thursday morning and will continue until sunset and resume at daybreak if necessary, the sheriff’s office said.

Video from the dock shows Rivera and her son as the only two people getting on the boat, Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Kevin Donoghue said at a separate news conference.

Detectives have spoken to Rivera’s son and as a result of that conversation do not believe Rivera made it to shore, he said.

The boat was not anchored, and was not near the shore when found, the sheriff’s office said. The area in which it was found is approximately 30 feet deep.

The lake has very low visibility with numerous plants and trees in the search area, making it unsafe for divers and a more complicated search, according to Donoghue.

“If the body is entangled in something beneath the water, it may never come back up,” Donoghue said.

Another spokesman for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Capt. Eric Buschow, previously said that the child and his mother went swimming and that she did not get back on the boat.

Romance / How To Make Your Girlfriend Feel Special With The Smallest Gestures by tkgz(m): 9:49am On Jul 09, 2020
Your girlfriend wants to feel love and appreciation. And even though you do love her, sometimes you forget how to make your girlfriend feel special.

Learning how to make your girlfriend feel special is something guys have asked me about more than once. And it’s a good question. Many men know how they feel towards their girlfriends, but they have problems with showing love and appreciation. And I get it.

On TV, we see people buying their partners’ cars or houses. How can a normal guy live up to those standards? But that’s not how you show love and appreciation. Of course, your girlfriend would love a fancy car, but those big gifts really mean nothing at the end of the day.

How to make your girlfriend feel special

What people remember are those small acts that others did for them. I remember when I was having a bad day at work, my boyfriend had a home cooked dinner waiting for me when I came home. That was really touching and made me feel very special and loved. He knew that he needed to comfort me and end my day on a good note.

Those are the actions that people remember. Not fancy gifts or expensive trips. So, if you want to make your girlfriend feel special, follow these tips because these little things show her you care.

#1 Send unexpected texts. We’re all addicted to our phones, so you might as well dedicate some of your screen time towards your partner. Send her out-of-the-blue text messages, reminding her that you’re thinking of her and that she means a lot to you.

#2 Get off your phone. The one thing that made my boyfriend stand out among the rest, in the beginning, was that when we spent time together, he wasn’t on his phone. He wouldn’t check his Facebook or talk to his friends. He gave me his time, and that made me feel special.

#3 Actively listen. We tend not to listen to each other when we’re talking. Instead, we’re waiting for our chance to reply. And this is the problem with people. But if you actively listen, it shows her that you care and you’re interested in what she has to say.

#4 Remember the little things. When someone remembers the small things about us, it makes us feel special. So, by actively listening, you’ll come across some useful information that she’ll tell you during a conversation. She told you she loves animals, take her to a donkey sanctuary, for example. I’m not sure why I picked donkeys as the animal, but you get what I mean.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has said the disinfection of schools against COVID-19 will begin on Tuesday, in preparation for the resumption of academic activities.

Minister of Environment, Muhammad Mahmood, revealed this on Monday while speaking at the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.

He explained that the delay in the decontamination process was there they would be enough teams on the ground to carry out the exercise.
“The delay is because it is better to disinfect and decontaminate within a short period of time so that the kids will be going back into these classes when they have been freshly decontaminated.

“This is because the chemicals we use are chemicals that are not long-lasting; they have short contact time to do their job. So we will be getting this done before Monday when they (schoolchildren) will be back to use these classes,” Mahmmood said.

Romance / How To Compliment A Girl And Make Her Blush by tkgz(m): 6:16am On Jul 05, 2020
Knowing how to compliment a girl is pretty important when you’re trying to make a lasting impression. After all, a compliment shows that you’ve noticed how nice a woman she really is.

There are many ways to compliment a girl, and they’re always going to sound nice.

Wouldn’t you appreciate it if you took a lot of time to dress well and your date complimented you on how nice you look?

It feels good, doesn’t it? Your date did notice the fact that you’ve cleaned up.

And just like that, girls love to be complimented too.

In fact, women love compliments a lot more than men do.

How to compliment a girl

One of the first things you should know about complimenting a girl is to be sincere.

Don’t just say something nice because you read it in a book or your friend texted you a few complimentary ques.

Be genuine when you compliment a girl, and if she does see the sincerity in your eyes, she’ll be more flattered and will appreciate your compliment.

If you’re just playing out rehearsed compliments, she would only feel uncomfortable and annoyed when she realizes you’re just trying to compliment her to get your way into her pants.

To compliment a girl, you need to understand the different ways you can do it, while flattering her at the same time.

Compliment a girl for how beautiful she looks

This is time tested and perfect all year round. You obviously know your date looks beautiful, or you wouldn’t be with her *yes, we know men are shallow*. So when you finally do meet her at the date, compliment her on how beautiful/cute/gorgeous/pretty she looks. How can you not appreciate such a wonderful woman when she’s taken so much of an effort to look cute as a button just for you?

Stare at her often

Stare at her often when you’re on a date with her. It’s one of the best compliments a guy can ever give a girl. This does come naturally when you’re smitten by a beautiful girl who’s out on a date with you, but remember this as one of those quiet compliments. [Read: How to Be Independent & Balance Seeking Help and Being Stubborn]

If you can’t help staring at a girl and getting lost in her eyes or her beauty, it just shows how happy you are to be with her. And yeah, you could also tell her how happy she makes you feel. That’s another great compliment for a girl.

Sports / EPL: FIFA Fines Arsenal Over Secret Clauses In Transfers by tkgz(m): 11:29pm On Jul 03, 2020
Arsenal have been fined £34,000 by FIFA and warned about their conduct regarding player transfers, the UK Mirror reports.

This follows an investigation into the transfers of Chuba Akpom and Joel Campbell in 2018.

Akpom left for Greek club PAOK, while Costa Rica forward Campbell signed for Italian side Frosinone.

However, sell-on clauses inserted in their contracts were variable, meaning if either returned to clubs in the UK, Arsenal would receive a bigger fee.
For Akpom, Arsenal would receive 40 per cent of the transfer fee if he moved to a British club, but only 30 per cent if he went elsewhere.

Frosinone would pay Arsenal 30 per cent of any fee if Campbell was sold back to the UK, but only 25 per cent if he went anywhere else.

The discovery of the sell-on clauses led to an investigation since January, having not been initially declared.

Romance / Getting Over Rejection: How To Bounce Back In No Time by tkgz(m): 9:03am On Jun 22, 2020
Rejection stinks—no denying it. After a rejection or two, you might think it is hopeless, but have no fear: your unchosen status can be left behind.
Not being chosen for something, or by someone, you really want is tough. It might even make you start thinking that it’s you, and not them, with the problem. This is common behavior after a rejection, and finding your motivation and spirit again can be an arduous process.

You have to take time to explore the situation to learn from it and grow. Doing so gives you the opportunity to make changes where necessary, and to become more secure with the person you are, so rejection doesn’t throw you for such a loop the next time.

Have you ever wondered why being rejected sucks so much? It all started back in ancient times.

No man left behind

Being part of a group used to be more necessary and important than it is now. Ancient cultures were built and maintained by a group. It was nearly impossible for one individual to gather food and protect himself all on his own; instead, it was the group that made it possible for everyone to survive.

If, for some reason, you got separated from your group, you most assuredly would die. Therefore, the fear of being alone is hardwired into our brains.

While being turned down for a date or not getting a promotion are not life-or-death situations, your brain still responds as if they are. This is why you feel so lost and desperate when you get rejected.

Getting over rejection and moving on for good

Now that you have a better understanding of rejection and why it hurts so much, it’s time to start getting over it. Here’s how you can bounce back from rejection and become stronger in spite of it.

#1 Take care of yourself. When your situation makes you feel worthless, it’s easy to let yourself go. After all, why should you care about yourself when no one else does? This is harmful, unproductive thinking that gets you nowhere.

Instead of vegging in front of the TV, or lying in bed all day, moping, get up, shower, and get dressed. Treat your body well by eating healthy foods and exercising, even if you have to force it. The better care you take of yourself, the better you’ll feel.

#2 Believe the truth. The rejection you experienced is simply one person’s opinion at one particular point in time. It’s not the ultimate opinion about who you are or what you’re worth. Heck, the rejecter may not even know you that well. Choose to believe this as truth. And choose this truth over and over, especially when you find yourself dwelling on the rejection again.

#3 Realize the pain will end eventually. You know the old saying, “Time heals all wounds,” don’t you? Well, it definitely applies here. You might feel as if the pain of rejection is going to last forever, or at least until it kills you, but the truth is that the pain ends eventually, all on its own.

One day, you’ll wake up and realize you feel a little better—that life just might be worth living again. It’s okay to take some time to grieve your rejection, but keeping in mind that the pain of it is temporary helps you get over it that much quicker.

#4 It’s okay to grieve. No matter the reason for the rejection or area of life it occurs in, rejection is usually accompanied by strong emotions. In many cases, they can be overwhelming. Fear, anger, grief: they’re all normal feelings after being rejected.
