Make your rules or principle known to all and keep to it. Don't be seen as a weak leader. But at the same time, be gentle and accommodating. Issue warnings and query after two strikes. Make sure that your warnings are always in black and white just in case someone want to put you in trouble.

Well outlined. As an ICT person, having close buddies at work doesn't stop me from effecting the company's policy as regards my duties on them.
