More often then not, God does not interfere in the affairs of men. He has given everyone a free will and given them a brain to think and descern good from evil.
Then in that case, Men should stop using God to interfer and justify the opression of others who are different from them.

The question is now Who created Steve?
I thought God created man in his own image and likeness, And that everything he created was good?
Is he now calling God a liar?

According to u: "in law when a crime is committed there must be a harm caused to another party as a result of the crime".

That is very untrue. A crime is an act that goes against d laws of d land whether harm is caused to another party or not. D arguments u put forth are watery and have always been d stale defense put up by gay apologists. In many countries of d world, polygamy is a criminal offence. What harm does polygamy cause to anyone if those involved are consenting adults? So ur assertion that because homosexuality is consensual, it exempts it from being a crime is wrong.

What constitutes crime is relative as every society has it's criteria for deciding what is and what isn't a crime. If d govt of nigeria under d then president Jonathan used religion, then so be it. In d words of Uhuru Kenyatta, such laws are a reflection of d prevailing culture of d people of that society. So as far religious tenets and natural laws are concerned, homosexuality is an aberration irrespective of consent. Even if u remove religion from d mix, u still can't justify homosexuality.

Still talking about what constitutes crime or not, like I said it's all a function of how society views such acts& if there are laws criminalising them. If u look at d drug trade, in d real sense, is it a crime or just a business transaction with suppliers supplying products to willing (consensual) buyers? But yet d trade is deemed illegal.

So my dear, what constitutes law and crime goes beyond your sentiments about what u refer to as acts performed by 2 consenting adults. Don't try to hide under endsars campaign to give credibility to homosexuality. E no work

Learned colleague, you got a great point. Yes, the laws of the land is important, meself I am a big supporter of some the laws of land. However you and know we live in a globalization age where people's interect increasingly with one another. Very few things has remained static in those laws land cuz the our society is dynamic and ever changing. If we based all logic for the laws on the laws the land then we'll be stuck.

Really good point on drugs. Again, if you mean hard drugs, these are substance that have very powerful effect on the human body and can kill instantly in cases of overdose. That why governments and approved pharmaceutical companies are license to for the purchase. So in essence drugs are traded but not at consumer levels to avoid dangerous proliferation that again will kill people. I light of this consent is not a validating factor cool. However, the aspect of physical harm and damages associated with drugs are clear.
Also one other side of it that Anti-money laundering is done using drugs as the commodity of exchange.

Culture is not constant oo. Societies are dynamic and evolve from time to time. If we want to do culture, then we should be in the forest hunting, our women going bare breasted, or killing twins as evil. Those who wish to change will be left behind.

I have learned from your points tho.

Bro I'm not gay, I'm highly straight, I'm just trying to let people know that there are factors that make or can make people become gay, Nobody is actually born gay, there is usually a trigger in the process to become gay, the funny part here is, there are gays who don't even know what triggered theirs and it's not that the gay stuff has been in them from birth, from my findings I have found out that every human has a feminine and a masculine side of personality, and once certain conditions pattern the mind of that person to trigger one these personalities to get way above or below normal then homosexuality comes in, that's one aspect, the second aspect is the issue of sexual satisfaction, some gays don't go through the first stage, they derive a higher sexual satisfaction through homosexuality and this is where addiction comes in, at this stage it is higher than drug, that if they do not have sex with same sex they cannot feel sexual satisfaction....

oga stop defending the undefendable
laws are made for people and not the other way round
Buhari cannot impose wearing of hijab because he knows Nigeria is a multi religious country so your example doesn't make sense
The people who made law are Representatives of the people so they carry the interest of the people
whenever they try to make any law that doesn't please the people, we protest
But was there any resistance when LGBT was criminalized? no
why? because Nigerians love it that way
so causing harm or not LGBT is a crime period.
I know you will go any length to defend your unwholesome act but unfortunately for you LGBT will forever be a crime in Nigeria
I like your use of the word impose in the case of hijab however it's clear you fail to see how the gay bill is being imposed on queer people. I hope you live forever to witness the change.

there is no difference bet them and the sars we are protesting against, they are both anti Human so anybody that wants to be unfortunate by being gay or lesbian should leave the country or we hand them over to authorities at sight to be prosecuted
I am NOT talking about legalization though. InCheck the difference between legalization and decriminalization. Decriminalization is removing sth from crime list so that you can't keep prosecuting it or opresssing others unjustly. For instance in casees where Marijuana is decriminalized so that people who were once arrested and jailed for it can be liberated.

U say u agree that it is a crime in Nigeria yet u are asking "what crime have they committed".
Calm down. Let me explain what I mean.

This Anti- gay bill was signed in 2014 by Goodluck and henceforth it became possible for the government to presecute gays. Everyone agrees this the reality but that does mean it's right. This bill was passed based on religious sentiments and I don't even know why he should have passed that law in the first place.

in law when a crime is committed there must be a harm caused to another party as a result of the crime e.g in armed roberry, Yahoo Yahoo, kidnapping, bribery name it another person suffer damages or loss because of the action of perpetrator

In the case sexuality, the question is now what crime has two consenting adults committed for doing what ever they're doing in their privacy and which they seem to enjoy. And most importantly does not cause harm or damage to anyone else. Literally, the act of intimacy between consenting adults no matter thier gérer dors not cause anyone to loose thier money not does it home food prices.

In law, you cannot just sign sth into law based on religious sentiments and then you go ahead say it's now crime. Take for instance, Imagine Buhari passing a new law tomorrow making wearing hijab a law for all women in Nigeria. As soon the law is passed, it becomes a crime if you don't wear hibaj. But the question will remain what harm has someone done to thier neighbour for not covering thier head as a lady.

Everyone cannot live the same in diverse country like Nigeria which is why we have govt and laws but that doesn't give people or govt power to opress others who are different. Just like in the case of sars opresssin youth taking all computer programmer to be Yahoo Yahoo.

These are all analysis but I hope it makes sense to you
That's why people study law. Human beings are not an easy animal to manage. But injustice is a no no

Plus, I think those it affects most are protesting already thus the reason we are having this conversation in the first place.

That's because they researched wrongly and the truth is there is nothing like gay gene, the whole thing about gay and lesbianism lies in the control on the mind, desire, satisfaction and sexual satisfaction, why did I separate satisfaction from sexual satisfaction, because they are 2 different things.

1. There are forced gays by mind control
2. There are forced gays by environment
3. There are forced gays by rape
4. There are forced gays by porn
5. There are gays by choice( who just wanted to be gay not that they even liked it but for reasons that could be as little as "oh it looks cool"wink
6. There are gays by poor family conditioning and upbringing( when I say poor, it's not about finance)
7. There are gays who just love the act of being gay( to be on the abnormal side of things, in this aspect "sex", that's where the group "queer" falls into)
8. There are gays who are bisexuals( this group are probably the highest in number( they have tasted gay sex and liked it and can't leave it and still enjoy straight sex and can't also leave it for various reasons which i might explain later)

Note I used the word "forced" in some points, there is a reason, I will explain later though, In all these, gay sex is mainly about addiction, once you start and you get addicted, it is very hard to leave, there are so many studies I have done concerning this topic, I have found out that it is even stronger than cocaine and it can be transmitted more like an initiation, personally I have had to question my sexual orientation at some point in my life based on personal experiences and have also seen others too who faced same experiences about their sexual orientation but I found out the problem and I was able to correct such thinking, some people never get to correct it and keep going in that direction and get fully into gay( though I have never had gay sex before but there were things I experienced in Life at various stages that brought me close thinking or trying to make me become gay or maybe bisexual) some people cross that line and never return.

You can keep asking your question, I will keep responding, I prefer answering like this...

What were the things you experienced in Life that made question your sexuality and at various stages was that?

you claim they are not fighting for it to be legalized. And also, that they are trying to involve everyone in the protests.

If this is true, is there even need to mention LGBT in the protest?? The protest is for everybody; every Nigerian; why now trying to profile people??
If there is no ulterior agenda, if this is about everybody, then there is no need mentioning LGBT in this protest. There is no need for profiling, since it's for everybody.
Good words! So we can all agree now that they are Nigerians shebi just like every other Nigerians. I wonder why our fellow Nigerians have been profiled over these years for nothing then. And when Goodluck Jonathan signed a law and crimimized them, did we forget these are our fellow Nigerians? our brothers and sisters, and family members.

Division and disunity within us is all that is needed for us to lose this endsars battle against the present government.
It could also mean the other way around. The ego of over-religious country's men and women coming from a poor educational system who has been raised and conditioned to hate and be a intolerable to a group of people. Exactly the same way racism, brutallty and other forms of oppression works.

Just curious, how would a march in BC affect policies or politics in Nigeria?

I guess the right place to hold this type of event would be Nigeria. A place like UN Plaza in NYC can also serve the purpose of sending a message to the world.

BC seems too remote and probably no one among the policy makers in Nigeria will even be aware that such event took place.

That was just my 2 cents
I couldn't agree more. Currently on my way to protest zone in Montreal for today.

Hi MoneySmart,

Glad you took out time to express your opinion. As humans, we are social animals. We are influenced by the actions, ideas and experiences of others. If you understand how the Media and Hollywood works, you would also understand how views are framed. It is opined that experience is the best teacher. However, wise people learn from the experiences of others to avoid mistakes.

I passionately expressed myself because the comment was dangerous. I strongly insulted the individual because he is ignorant and decided to stand by his ignorance. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with being ignorant, it is stupid to stand by an ignorant viewpoint. There are certain situations or topics I am ignorant on or half knowledgeable. However, I do not express an opinion or stick by an ignorant opinion. The category of people I know that take such action are MAD MEN.

In life, it is so easy to give advice especially when you are remote from the situation, unaware of the full information, detached or have no interest in the individuals involved. For example, everybody is a great marriage counselor on other people's marriage other than theirs. It is also funny that people are quick to give advices themselves will NEVER implement. Some people have suggested that abuse victims do not need therapy. How would a victim heal? Often abuse victims tend to become the abusers later on in life. Another example are molested children who become pedophiles. Also, a chronic abuser might be unaware of why he/she is abusive or that they are abusive. Oh yes, you would be shocked.

In other not to beat around the bush or to seem repetitive, I have presented an alternative approach based on the lives of people who initially felt their actions were right, only to discover they made a mistake. Their discovery is as a result of their OWN experience and now they wish they had adopted a different approach. Fiction is different from reality. I can confirm to you that these individuals, the alleged victims who escalated as well as the alleged accused, are experiencing a difficult time.

To conclude, I wasn't interested in the response of the individual and still not interested. This is not a debate. My focus was to clarify how dangerous, ignorant and stupid his comments were and to provide alternative suggestions that works. For victims in abusive marriages - YES, you need therapy whether you want to continue in the marriage/relationship or not and if you think your marriage is important, both you and your partner need therapy and counseling. Also, remember, you chose your partner. Hence, leaving or staying in your relationship/marriage is also a CHOICE. Choices comes with circumstances, either good or bad. So the choice is yours to make and don't blame anyone, other than yourself, for the choices you make in life. This is my last take on this. I believe I have expressed myself enough.

I think you're sharing an important point here and thank you you for critically stressing on it so that opposing views can judiciously asses thier opinion. From your post, I've drawn that 911 may not be of best interest for minor family issues that can be resolved thru therapy or councelling. However, if it's a serious cases of abuse when one is no longer feeling safe, then a radical approach is involving the police.

I also agree with you that people should be humble enough to tell themselves the truth or at least re-imagine the demerits when they are ignorant on a topic, especially as an immigrant when you have too many things to both learn and catch up with. I am not surprised tho cuz Nigerians , especially the Nigerian men, are very proud people. When shoulders are too high, it's a sign of weakness if you don't get angry , raise your voice, and be superman even when you're actually ignorant.

Please I need advice. I lost my Dad over 2 months now and he hasn't been buried due to the pandemic. My Uncle's are all in Lagos and can't come back.
.
First of all, my deepest condolences for your loss. May your Dad's soul rest in peace!
Eventhough your story is incomplete, I am gonna assume your uncles are the bad guys here because of a personal experience that happened to my own family. I have read through comments from people and you can see advices differ based on people's perspective and experience. Thus, you need to plan with your mum and siblings on what is best for you and for your family.

My advice is as follows:

1: If it's possible, seize and secure all official documents about the properties belonging to your Dad. Without theses documents, unfortunately, you cannot proof ownership of documents even in a law court.

2: Read all your Dad's dairy, letters, messages or books. This can provide vital information and business deals.

3: Uncles are very good when it comes to conniving and anexing properties. Confronting them directly will put your life and that of your family in great danger. They can posion you or send people to kill. This is no lie. To avoid this, you need to mobilize people who will support you cuz you won't win it alone. First start by talking to the Aunt in the family (women are often knowledgeable and also more truthful, they have thier meetings and will spread the word for you if truly the preperties belong to your Dad.). After this, involve the village elders and youth age.

3, Since you are a final year student and don't have any means of your own involving police and lawyers will take up a lot money, energy and resources from you. But I encourage you to make a statement and court charges. This can serve as evidence and for future fight.

4: as some have suggested, you can go to your father's burial. Prapare a speech. Say it out and shame your uncles for trying to steal your father's properties and for making life unbearable for you, your Mum and siblings. Make sure someone videos it. This a good evidence . The person that suggested is a genus. Soiling your uncle's reputation and shaming them is a good way of calling them to order and also calling people to empathize and support. Use that opportunity!

5: If your uncles remain adamant. You and your mum should consider leaving the properties for them. You might be blessed in the future and accomplish greater things. From experience, the uncles that does this are the lazy and wicked ones who are fool at 40 and who has wasted all thier youth and dreams. At old age, they will get to regret thier actions.

6: Take care of yourself and your family

All the best
