Career / 3 Reasons You Can Graduate With A 3rd Class by torres89: 9:02am On Mar 29, 2017
read a post yesterday and i was obviously irritated by the ideology of some people...

so from my own personal experience in the university here are my top reasons why you can graduate with a pass

1) HEALTH issues

perhaps you where involved in an accident ,or you're a sickle cell patient which made you lose better part of a session or throw u off balance mentally.
losing a loved one also falls under this category

2) Hustlers

after leaving secondary school you took a long time off to make money and fend for your family.

or perhaps you had no one to sponsor you to school so had a long lay off.

let me use an instance

i had a course mate in school he was over 35 years in 100 level. it wasn't easy for him. but he had to struggle because needed the certificate.

3) working class students

this category is peculiar to ond or HND guys who are working simultaneously mostly in oil companies. but just need the certificate for promotion.

i had a very good friend who works with NNPC. he took school life softly and easy. after all he already has a job.

If you ain't under any of these categories and you graduated with a third class or still struggling with a pass , there is a good reason for that which is

YOU PICKED THE WRONG COURSE

the university system was designed to suit everyone. there are well over 60 courses in the university are you saying u can't pick one that will suit you and excel in

its because you don't know what you want, that's why you are struggling academically.

i had a friend in mathematics department, in 300 level she had a train of carry overs .

after talking to her course adviser she took jamb again, applied for microbiology in uniben , now she's doing well and smiling everyday. instead of waking up every morning telling her self who certificate ep

For candidates who are just seeking for admission and those in school please don't listen to all these outside talk. after all what ever is what doing is what doing well.

let me just drop quick tips on how to do well in school

* look before you leap

most jambites don't know about the nature of the course they pick before running into it.
I'm a victim of this.
after secondary school, i felt since i love biology and chemistry so much , let me pick something related to sciences, so i picked OAU and appiled for biochemistry since medicine felt to competitive for me.
i was admitted so happy, but after the 100 level.

hmmmmm Omo see failing

i quickly retrace my steps, picked up jamb form and choose Electrical engineering.

my point is before you buy jamb form you need to know what you want and whether your head can carry it.

knowing what you want is easy, before you pick up jamb form, go to school of your choice have a list of courses you want in mind, head straight for the various departments.look for guys in 200 level , talk to them about your ambition and review their course work. u should get a clear view from here . please don't go with your parents and you can spend more than a day on campus.

another means is picking doing diploma or predegree this means is expensive but it's gonna brush you up well and help you understand what you want.

and for those currently in the university struggling with third class, just talk to your course adviser and let him or her guide you based on experience.

the labour market isn't a funny place whether you want to be self employed or work in a company. don't be mislead by silly and cheap talk.

wish you guys all the best and stay away from drugs and cult on campus.

what about when there is no power ?

or the intruders decide to be smart and break the fence

or they use the same cable cutters you used during installation to cut the cables

or they decide to follow the one of the tenants as he drives in

only God offers protection

Education / Re: See What Happened To Me In School Today by torres89: 8:30pm On Mar 27, 2017
Zellie:
Nigeria is a really messed up place to study. This is what happened to me today.

I have an anatomy test on the 31st of this month, a practical test. So this morning, I left my hostel for the anatomy museum, with the intention of becoming fairly acquainted with some of the bones, models of internal organs they had before the test on Thursday.

When I got there, I wanted to start with the Clavicle. I noticed it wasn't there and none of my other classmates were studying it either so I went to the attendant's office to request for it. He told me it was there, that I should search for it properly. He was being very rude and impolite, but he's quite old and I needed his help so it was okay. I searched again, no luck, so I went back to tell him the same thing I told him the first time. THERE WAS NO CLAVICLE.

After so much grovelling, begging and promising not to take it outside the museum, he finally let me have it. I was relieved. I filled out a form, wrote down my name, phone number and some other things I don't remember anymore ( I'm not a frequent borrower of bones), this is now where the trouble started o. The man SAID he tried calling my phone but it didn't go through, he tried only ONCE and network in that museum was really shitty, mine at least. He probably didn't even try at all and was just desperately looking for something to pin on me because apparently, one of my classmates recently reported him to the HOD of the department for something similar ( I'm not very sure what happened).

He called me back and asked why my number wasn't going through. I said i didn't know so I tried to look for my phone inside the bag I was holding buy I couldn't find it, I just assumed I forgot it in the hostel when I was rushing out. He refused to listen, he said I should return the bone, that I gave him a wrong number. Sigh. Tried to explain but he insisted. I gave up, went to my seat to collect the bone and give it back to him. . Fortunately (well, not really), as I trying to get the bone, I saw the bloody phone under my atlas. I was happy again, I might finally get to study this clavicle.

I went back to the man and told him I'd found my phone, and asked ( asked not told o) if he
could try the number again. Then he started going on about how I don't know how old he is, and how I could have the guts to tell him to try again , and if I liked, I should go and tell the HOD and some other incoherent mumblings. He collected the bone, accused me of wanting to hide bones from the museum inside my bag , so he sent me out and told me never to come there again. Afterwards he came outside to tell everyone I gave him a wrong number , and i thought i was smart bla bla blah. Imagine such embarrassment, for wanting to pass a test. I wanted to report him to the HOD because I was really angry, but I just thought there was a possibly of it putting us in more trouble. I don't know, you know how these things are. So I just explained what happened to one of the lecturers , he called the museum man and talked to him, then advised that I apologized, even though I was obviously being oppressed , cos he's an old man.

That was how I apologized for doing nothing sad , pity.

This rather unfortunate and disheartening incident further proves how really backward we are in this country. It would take years to get out of this mess.

don't use one person as a comparison with every one in the country.

in other words stop generalising.

that aside ....

there is no place like that in Nigeria

learning robotics is different from learning how to speak French

just pick a robotic project in your final year

u will learn alot from it , if u do it yourself.

am speaking from experience

did my final project on Robotics.
