In the bible after the Pentecost day when Holy Spirit fell on all that were in the upper room..the pattern were, they preach the Word, the person accept the Word (Jesus Christ), the apostles lay hands and the new convert receives the Holy Spirit...I dont know nowadays how many receives the Holy Spirit during alter calls.. we just count the numbers and celebrate pple who left their previous church to join ours...

Just so you know the Holy spirit is a gentle personality...He wouldn't force himself on you...before one receives the gift of the holy spirit he/she must be willing to accept nd receive the holy spirit. ...
I guess at times what most churches fail to do is ask who wants to receive the gift of the holy spirit

I am confused about this speaking in tongues of a thing. Bible said on the day of Pentecost, when the disciples received the Holy Spirit, that they spoke in different tongues and the people gathered there were surprised. They were surprised because they heard of he disciples speaking in their languages. Example, a believer in a Nigerian church, under the anointing speaking in tongues, could be heard speaking maybe Chinese, Spanish or other languages but, all the raba rava, shoot kiyo is confusing.
And you speak in tongues when you're under the influence of the Holy Spirit and not, when you like.

There is divers kinds of tongues nd speaking in tongues...
When one has the gift of speaking in divers kinds of tongue like what happened on the day of Pentecost, that's when you experience what happened on the day of Pentecost. ...cos most times God might want to use you to relate a message to someone who doesn't understand english or whatever language you are talking in, so u hear the speaker speaking in another man's language like the example you gave...but when you are praying in the holy ghost you are talking to God
