It's normal for oil companies to contract operations and maintenance of some assets to third parties. The IOCs are reknown for that. It's good that NNPC is exploring this option

Why was their new Lagos head office built in the First instance? Sanusi Lamido even fitted it with an helipad. The building is wasting away till date. I still have pictures of their empty offices with me as I speak.

They are better off situated in Lagos than Abuja because almost all Banks are headquartered in Lagos.

One key function of CBN is Banking services supervision. You can't do that effectively when your H/O is in Abuja.

These CBN guys travel down to Lagos almost everyday and then raise crazy expense claims on Travel, flight, hotel Accomodation, local estacodes to the tune of several millions.

These leakages should be plugged.

N.B: My position is not borne out of tribalism.

#Bitter fact

These 3 agencies absolutely have no business in Abuja.

1. CBN
2. NNPC
3. FAAN (Aviation)

NNPC? How many barrels of oil does Lagos produce?

How much does Kannywood generate annually?

What's the biggest sales made from one Kannywood movie?

It's funny for anyone to compare that joke to Nollywood.

You obviously don't desire a fruitful exchange, as you're already resorting to name calling. I can't engage people like you who confidently pass comments on what they know little about

Given the diverse cultural differences between Southern and Northern Nigeria, bringing Kannywood and Nollywood together has become a mission impossible. Nigeria is just like oil poured into oil...which never mixes.

Nobody even recognises Kannywood films beyond northern Nigeria. So, let's see the positive changes Ali Nuhu will bring to the industry. .. that's if he's not here to loot. Congratulations to Ali Nuhu!
You need to do more research on Kannywood. Just in brief, Kannywood is older than Nollywood. Each of the "woods" have their specific audience. Average northerners don't watch Nollywood films, vice versa applies for Kannywood in the south. Kannywood transcends Nigeria, it is patronised by international audience who have similarities to Northern Nigeria e.g Niger, Chad, Sudan, Saudi Arabia etc

Almost everybody I know wakes up with different bible verses on their social media platforms. You see everybody going to their different places of worship, praying, crying ,dancing , shouting. Alot of others preach repentance.

Then I wonder, how come we have such a corrupt society?

Jobs are meant for a particular church congregation..

If your not a member of the church no job for you

You see politicians in churches and mosques
Who are the ones stealing this monies grin ?
I can say that it is partly due to the fact that the religious entities are not the political authorities. Naturally, man is bound to misbehave if there are no strict sanctions. Our current political choice, democracy, doesn't assure that. If muslims are allowed to follow the Islamic dictates, a lot of nonsense can not happen. People can't steal at will, because they know they're going to the gallows.

Politics / Re: NERC To Sell Kaduna Electric Over N110 Billion Debt by U09ce: 8:20am On Jan 09
I was told that the only viable discos are Eko and Ikeja. Even Abuja disco is struggling - due to the neighboring franchise states (Niger, Kogi and Nassarawa). The privatisation of PHCN was ill thought and badly implemented. The power sector is unlike telecommunications where strong competition entrenched fairer prices. The value chain for power sector is longer--the gas supply part of it is dollar dependent. Thus, it's prone to several vagaries.
The minimum wage for workers is currently a measly 30k. The average take home of Nigerian families is probably less than 50k monthly. A KWh of electricity is now at least 60 Naira. A modest house spends up to 20k per month for 15 hours of electricity. How do you expect such a family living in penury to pay the power costs?
The government needs to get a viable solution to this mess

FCCPC is a neonate agency, created just about 2 years ago. Despite that, Irukera has managed to project the agency into good limelight. He spearheaded the regulation of loan apps. Me thinks he should have been allowed to serve out his tenure, unless he is found culpable of a crime

Why the outcry? If you're a business owner, I'm very sure that you must have increased prices for your goods/services at least twice in the past year. It's better to ask for a reasonable price increase to avoid poor services, divestment and lay off of workers. Let's be empathetic

Politics / Re: Gov Sanwo-Olu & Speaker Abbas To Commission Projects Built By Femi Gbajabiamila by U09ce: 8:21am On Jan 02
For those asking about the source of funding, it is FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. Legislators engage in what is now called "budget padding". They insert constituency projects in the budgets of MDA, whether it's relevant to the entity or not. On the one, the practice is quite wrong because it deprives federal projects of the needed funding and makes state governments lazy to deliver their mandates. On the other hand, the legislator is looking for ways to please his constituents, in order to boost his political career.
In essence, it's a telling effect of the failure of Nigerian federalism. For many decades, governors have been stealing billions denying the citizens the basic amenities. The legislators discovered the gap and have now transformed "lexecutives" juggling both legislative and executive functions.

I'm pretty sure some of the governors are planning to devour the funds. That was how they were collecting billions without doing much during Buhari, until Wike blew their cover. The problem of Niger Delta states is their state governors. How do you start to explain the backward status of oil rich Bayelsa state? Or the sluggish development of Delta state?

RepoMan007:

Stupid journalism. If giving a certificate in 6 wks make all west african schools mushroom, what do we say about Nigeria where you can have same without waiting for six weeks?

The speed with which these bastardized govt university elements generalize negativity against non-government owned schools is getting out of hand.

Why are you pained? Nigerian public schools have their shortcomings. But it's difficult to get certificate without attending. It's possible to have those who fake the certificate of others.
I have come across several Cotonou "graduates". Most of them know close to nothing in what they claimed to study. Afterall, most of them only opt for those universities either because they fail to cope in normal universities or they want to get a certificate within a short period.

Politics / Re: Railway Debt Servicing Exceeds Revenue By 1,200% – Report by U09ce: 9:17am On Dec 28, 2023
This is nothing but capitalist thinking. It's the same argument one president will use in the future to push up prices citing "cost-reflective" bla bla". It is not everything that's monetary. Also, some benefits are not directly monetary. The railways have opened up new places, improved trade and provided employment. It is evident in major communities surrounding train stations e.g Kubwa, Rigasa, Moniya etc
