Obaseki Losing Media Battle With just 10 days to Edo election we have seen several campaign clips of the incumbent governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki and his main challenger Dr Osagie Ize-Iyamu on different television stations and they have been aired on radio as well. But since the end of 2015 election rounds in Nigeria a new reality has dawned on our political sphere and it is very alarming that many have not come to realize the new normal in our political world. Prior to 2015 election we saw President Goodluck Jonathan on many Television Stations campaigning, alas, he lost the election because his media team focused on television and radio broadcasts while his main opponent took part of the television and radio airway but dominated the social media. He was on every blog site and was trending on every social media platform as well. And he won the election. I have keenly followed Governor Godwin Obaseki’s campaign and I must confess that his media team is not doing enough as they are losing the social media battle by a great margin. The governor is not trending on any social media platform and that is so unusual. The screen on ring-road and other strategic places in the state will not show Edolites all the governor has done and with few days to the election it is important that the governor rejig his campaign team and focus more on the social media because there are more smart-phones in Nigeria than there are televisions. And with the epileptic power supply and high cost of fuel in the country, people prefer getting information with their phones than with televisions or even radios. One week is enough for information to spread because with social medial, the world is a global village and everyone is a next door neighbor. Furthermore, information travel faster with social media than it travels with television or radio. Now it behooves on the governor and his handlers to do the needful. A stitch in time saves nine and a word is enough for the wise. |

Say no to the return of oshiomhole. don't repeat the mistake we all made in 2015 when we pushed out a man because of the empty promises of another. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries has accused the government of failing in its duty of protecting Nigerians. Suleman said the government was violating a preexisting social contract with Nigerians. In a tweet, the clergyman noted that the citizenry is not obligated to respect and obey such a government that violates its social contract. According to Apostle Suleman: “The citizenry owes no patriotism to a brutal/clueless leadership, loyalty is only on the premise of leadership fulfilling its pre-existing social contract in which the state protects the people in exchange for their loyalty, as it stands now, there is a breach of trust.” His tweet is coming at a time when operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, and members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, clashed in Enugu. The clash had led to the death of some persons. While the leadership of IPOB had accused DSS of killing its members, the secret police had claimed that the separatist group also killed its members. https://dailypost.ng/2020/08/25/dss-vs-ipob-citizens-owe-no-loyalty-to-clueless-brutal-govt-apostle-johnson-suleman/ 3 Likes |
