maclatunji: How you manage to contradict yourself within few posts is quite laughable and may even show more evidence of bigotry! If you must respect other people's opinion, surely that must include the opinion of those who choose to use lower case letter to describe proper nouns, No? There are over 500,000 users on this forum. It can't be anything short of outright nonsense to expect that everyone must agree with my posts or in the very least, that no one will find them offensive. Surely it is not my responsibility to cater to the emotions of unstable/erratic folks who must find every reason to take offense on every little line of word i type. The fact that you are misbehaving and misusing your privilege as a Mod does not imply that I for one count it as a predicament. It only makes people think less of you as a person/user. I don't come to this section often as i don't have much reason to be here. But when i see Bigotry, i call Bigotry! |

maclatunji: Nairaland is a privately owned community forum not a Muslim forum. The reason why this forum has remained vibrant as it is, has been because Mods were careful enough, NOT to abuse their privilege even on issues where they are personally involved. The moment you bring in a religious bias as a mod, you tarnish the beauty of this forum!! Your job is NOT to define what posting with decorum must be, You are free to do this in your own house. Your job as a Mod on Nairaland is to enforce existing guidelines which does NOT obligate members to hold in high esteem certain people, religion, or myths. If you are to do your job without fear or favor, then do so within existing guidelines. Anything more or short of this may be seen as an excuse to fulfill bigoted tendencies. 1 Like |

maclatunji: To all non-Muslims, if you cannot spell Allah or God with initial caps as you would for any other proper noun, get ready for appropriate sanctions. You don't do it in error and it shall not be tolerated henceforth. Your responsibility here is NOT to moderate people's use of English. Not only does that diminishes you, it makes you look petty and bigoted! You should not expect everyone to hold in high esteem the things you hold in high esteem and you and I should not necessarily have the same interpretation of what a proper noun must be especially if the things you believe in does not make sense to me and vice versa. I have been on Nairaland probably for as long as you have and I am yet to see people abuse their mods privilege like you have just done in a bid to achieve their own selfish religious objectives. Shame on you man! This may be a section reserved only for Muslims, but if you do not require opinions of Non-Muslims, then don't make a thread a front page item! 3 Likes |

Muslims react to an insult to Islam....with a bigger insult to Islam! Someone says "Oh, he's crazy" and you replied "I'd rip my cloths off, break a few bones, and drown myself in acid to show the world how angry I am at you" Most sane people will wonder which is more dishonorable to the Islamic faith. The low budget movie no one would have given a twist about or the very angry, destructive, erratic and unstable folks who destroy everything in sight to prove their religion is actually peaceful. 37 Likes |

To say that you are a r.etard would be the understatement of the year!!! so what are dictionaries for if not points of reference for all irrespective of their individual professions? Being half literate is truly the worst kind of illiteracy. When someone calls you a donkey, I wonder if you think (according to the dictionary), they meant that you have long ears and tails like the members of equine families do.
So what happened at Pearl Harbor? I see how you stupiddly argue firmly about the things you don't know! Read the story on Pearl Harbor and the Japanese declaration of war before you debate with people who are well capable of flogging you intellectually! Keep focusing on islam -dont focus on the poverty in your own country caused by the US controlled IMF and world bank, dont focus on the proliferation of arms supplies which are run and controlled by americans, israelis and europeans, dont focus on the fact that living standards in nigeria continue to decline year after year as a result of nigeria's implementation of US and british designed economic policies, no continue to repeat like a dutiful sheep all the propganda that CNN BBC, NBC and Al Jazeera feed weak minded followers like you - dumb ar.se. Yeeepa! My belle oh! We are talking about your savage little brothers of piss, you are talking about IMF. Ba sense, no dey! 1 Like |

I can see from the type of language you use that you are not very intelligent - sex and violence are obviously your forte but not anything that involves intellectual ability. What a DOLT!!! You define words in dictionary terms as if reality looks upon dictionary!....This strikes me as another low in idiocy!...Have you seen intelligent lawyers arguing based on "this dictionary defines it as" ??.....What a bloody dolt!!! in other words anything that causes another person to fear for their life constitutes a terrorist act - it does not matter whether it is done covertly or done out in the open - the bottom line is as long as you cause people to fear for their lives you are a terrorist. It does matter you idiott!...The Japanese government went to war against the American government, which part of that is too difficult for you to understand? Both government saw each other as enemies and they put the life of their people at risk the moment they fired the first cannon. The people knew they were at war, when you are at war, you should expect to kill or get killed. How you mix that up with a bizarre scenario of someone who in the name of prophet mullamed, straps a bomb to his under pant and intends to kill all those who do not believe prophet mullamed is genuine is beyond common sense. 1 Like |

shymexx: Yesterday, when Obama mentioned that "Egypt is neither an ally nor an enemy", the Egyptian president on realizing that this could signify the beginning of a major Policy shift quickly toughened his tone of condemning the riots and the Muslim brotherhood cancelled all proposed protests. Arabs don't like the yanks should not mean the yanks have to dumb themselves down and abandon their own way of life just to receive some form of acceptance from Arabs. Most America's policies in the middle east are focused on keeping many countries at ease with Israel. It doesn't mean the US is afraid of severing ties if she wishes to do so, the mullahs have more to lose! 3 Likes |

shymexx: The yanks are the ones who need to be more rational and tolerant? They can't even make a bloody low budget movie in their own country without some mullahs getting rabid as if Mohammed will fall from the sky if no one fights for him. It is not enough that they get told off simply for exercising their constitutionally protected right to freedom of expression in their own country..they are now being asked to dumb down and live their lives less of who they were just so some "custodians of piss" won't get rabid? |
Politics / Re: US Temporarily Closes Embassy In Nigeria by violent(m): 12:13pm On Sep 15, 2012 |
cap28: Here's even a dumbed down version for you, so perhaps you may understand the difference between terrorism and conflict: If you catch me fcking your wife in your bedroom and we both begin to fight with knives and everything else ---that is conflict. If i picked up a mallet and smashed your head in a million places, that's still fair and square. On the other hand, if you got so offended about the remarks i made on prophet mullamed, so much so you hid bomb in your pants to blow up my poultry along with yourself in it ---that's terrorism!!! That's reprehensible!! Any religion that encourages such must be opposed by the society at large. Countries have conflicts. They fight war!..In warfare, it's survival of the fittest. If Japan had the bomb before US did, they would have used it on the United States. It's fair and square!...Millions of Americans also died from the two wars. It is not okay that you savagely creatures attempt to hide your cruelty borne out of a silly excuse of religion with a justification of wars that have been fought in the past. That my friend, is retardeed! |

kunle.t.ade: What a prat! a botched copy and paste job with clearly ridiculous attempts to humanize these very savagely animals. If you had any bit of common sense, you wouldn't have for once compared a civil war scenario or a war between two countries with the clearly erratic and unstable behavior of these "custodians of piss" who destroy everything in sight just because their prophet got insulted. A terrorist is not someone who kills an enemy by every means necessary during a war time (civil or international outbreak)....a terrorist is someone who hides bombs in his pants, kidnaps and beheads innocent civilians, hijacks a plane full of women and kids all to achieve a religious end. A terrorist is someone who kills you because his holy book says it is the right thing to do.....Now take these definitions, slow thinker, and then sift through your questions above, you may get an insight or two on why people think or most Muslims as terrorists. 2 Likes |

na2day!: Apple is NOT stupidd! It knows/expects Samsung to fight back given any chance, so It's been building up it's own LTE patents artillery in preparation for Samsung lawsuits. As at last year, Apple had NO LTE patent. It now has 318 in its possession. The fact that Samsung has 819 LTE patents will not automatically mean any of them has been encroached. In thermonuclear war, know thine enemy is the first rule and if LTE patent is all the storm Samsung has got coming, I'd bet a dollar Apple saw Samsung's "fight-back" ability a million mile away before they decide to proceed with their lawsuits. 2 Likes |

I can't seem to figure out much sense from this fable. Who has been scammed? How have they been scammed? Was there a prior relationship between the alleged grifter and the company? If no, then why was he (the swindler) waiting to be "disgraced" at the company's premises? Why has the company not had him arrested yet? |

Anyone will expect that in a civilized society, an airline with an iota of shame may be embarrassed enough to have kept their customers waiting for 8 hours, but not these disgraceful lots. They were happy to show off their dirty undergarments to the world by fleecing their customers of money for aviation fuel ....Could anything have been anymore shameful than this? The other embarrassing bit was the fact that why wasn't this airline reported to aviation authorities while it was still at Gatwick? It may have been grounded and forced to pay some heavy compensations. 2 Likes |

How's he holding on to past? Can't you see the OP alluded to the fact that the guy was raised by his grandmother - and his consciousness is more 'traditional' than 'modern'?? That aside, there are certain things that feel more natural to different races than others - we as Africans can always emulate 'Western/Europeans' but we will never be like them... Some things are just inborn, and no amount of imitation and copying can change it... A look at how foreign religions haven't worked in the Nigerian context should tell you all you need to know... Embracing culture is great!...It is golden, It gives you an identity, it shows you know your roots. That said, one may argue that the principal reason for obtaining a formal education in the first place, is to see the world in ways that our great grandparents have been unable to see it...to evolve more intelligently, dispel historical myths, make new discoveries and yet still hold on firm to the identity and roots we share. Some folks many years ago believed in killing twins, pooing in the bush, drinking from the river, and all sorts. It will be disappointing if there are people in this generation who still view the world around them in the same way. A man who believes Ronaldo plays football with charm certainly does. A man who will rather make sacrifices to the gods than go to hospital for medical care still does. Professor Wole Soyinka, King Sunny Ade and a host of others are people who have all evolved intelligently with time. 2 Likes |

Putting lipstick on a pig will not stop it from being a pig. Women who let themselves be treated like they are a piece of trash don't deserve much of my sympathy. The strong willed, dynamic, Impatient, self dependent, not easily discouraged, goal oriented, unafraid to get into a physical fight, -- nature of a Choleric probably describes 50% as for the remaining 10%, well, i guess someone will have to come up with a new category to describe an absolute nutter who is at the same time quiet, calm ,sympathetic and collected. 2 Likes |

If after a year, his position is still vacant, then it means just one thing ----> They need him!!! and badly too! Moreover, if the company knew they could get someone better to do the job, he wouldn't have been invited in for an interview in the first place. Interviewer: So why did you leave us (ABC company) a year ago. Me: It wasn't an easy decision at that point but I'm glad i made the call. It has helped me gain a much broader perspective on the industry, explore new initiatives and also develop better skills (emphasize better). I expect that much of the experience gained working with a rival company will now help me identify which areas can be improved on in this role and also contribute innovative ideas in manufacturing that will keep us many miles ahead of competitors for the foreseeable future. Note: from the above: You haven't grovelled!(bad for your reputation. I personally hate to see a grown ass man grovel) You haven't actually told them why you left (they know why you left already. They only want to hear you say I'm a greedy bastard ) You haven't showed that you regret leaving (This will limit your chances of negotiating for a better deal later on) ...You have merely shown them that if there ever is a time that they need you, the time is now! and after sweet talking for about 2 minutes non stop, they probably wouldn't remember what question was asked again. 4 Likes |
Career / Re: How Much Money Must You Make Before Returning To Nigeria? by violent(m): 5:40pm On Aug 31, 2012 |
Cost of living is higher in naija, though tax is less. Jobs are not available, and the credit crunch means the multinationals will slow down on recruitment in general, in the coming year. Outside the multinationals, and the banks, you can hardly get a decent wage anywhere else, or even a relevant job. I don't see how this can be true! @OP: The question of how much money depends mostly on individual lifestyle and preferences. I also think people who are in the UK should learn to take advantage of Investment opportunities in the western financial markets. Keeping all your money in a savings account in the hopes of coming to settle down in Nigeria someday is a very foolish idea. |
