Even this post is offensive to Muslims and as a result does break forum rules. "their unknown deity"? Some of you are incurable.

Some people here worship Ogun.

You are obligated to respect their opinion if they don't believe in the existence of Allah, Mohammed or Jesus!

Who said anything about you holding people in esteem? You think whatever you like. However, once you decide to hit the keyboard, you hold a responsibility to consider and respect the opinions of other people. If you know others will find your post outrightly offensive, it is better not to make it especially when it contravenes forum rules.

You lot brought your present predicament on yourselves. Had you moderated yourselves when posting about Muslims/Islam in the past, there wouldn't have been any reason for me to become moderator here.

How you manage to contradict yourself within few posts is quite laughable and may even show more evidence of bigotry! If you must respect other people's opinion, surely that must include the opinion of those who choose to use lower case letter to describe proper nouns, No?

There are over 500,000 users on this forum. It can't be anything short of outright nonsense to expect that everyone must agree with my posts or in the very least, that no one will find them offensive. Surely it is not my responsibility to cater to the emotions of unstable/erratic folks who must find every reason to take offense on every little line of word i type.

The fact that you are misbehaving and misusing your privilege as a Mod does not imply that I for one count it as a predicament. It only makes people think less of you as a person/user. I don't come to this section often as i don't have much reason to be here. But when i see Bigotry, i call Bigotry!

LOL. This thread is filled with comments of Non-Muslims You might want to do another lecture on posting with decorum.

There are non-Muslims we debate with here virtually everyday. They don't get banned. This is not about being popular, it's about knowing your duties, powers and getting the job done without fear or favour.

Nairaland is a privately owned community forum not a Muslim forum. The reason why this forum has remained vibrant as it is, has been because Mods were careful enough, NOT to abuse their privilege even on issues where they are personally involved. The moment you bring in a religious bias as a mod, you tarnish the beauty of this forum!!

Your job is NOT to define what posting with decorum must be, You are free to do this in your own house. Your job as a Mod on Nairaland is to enforce existing guidelines which does NOT obligate members to hold in high esteem certain people, religion, or myths. If you are to do your job without fear or favor, then do so within existing guidelines. Anything more or short of this may be seen as an excuse to fulfill bigoted tendencies.

maclatunji: To all non-Muslims, if you cannot spell Allah or God with initial caps as you would for any other proper noun, get ready for appropriate sanctions. You don't do it in error and it shall not be tolerated henceforth.

Your responsibility here is NOT to moderate people's use of English. Not only does that diminishes you, it makes you look petty and bigoted!

You should not expect everyone to hold in high esteem the things you hold in high esteem and you and I should not necessarily have the same interpretation of what a proper noun must be especially if the things you believe in does not make sense to me and vice versa.

I have been on Nairaland probably for as long as you have and I am yet to see people abuse their mods privilege like you have just done in a bid to achieve their own selfish religious objectives. Shame on you man!

This may be a section reserved only for Muslims, but if you do not require opinions of Non-Muslims, then don't make a thread a front page item!

Muslims react to an insult to Islam....with a bigger insult to Islam!

Someone says "Oh, he's crazy"

and you replied "I'd rip my cloths off, break a few bones, and drown myself in acid to show the world how angry I am at you"

Most sane people will wonder which is more dishonorable to the Islamic faith. The low budget movie no one would have given a twist about or the very angry, destructive, erratic and unstable folks who destroy everything in sight to prove their religion is actually peaceful.

To say that you are a r.etard would be the understatement of the year!!! so what are dictionaries for if not points of reference for all irrespective of their individual professions?

Being half literate is truly the worst kind of illiteracy. When someone calls you a donkey, I wonder if you think (according to the dictionary), they meant that you have long ears and tails like the members of equine families do. cheesy cheesy

Again your ignorance of world events shines through - the japanese did not declare war on the US - the US declared war on Japan, Japan was FORCED to defend itself from attack following numerous provocatitons by the US govt - at the time that the bomb was dropped Japan had already surrendered but america went ahead to drop the bomb anyway - and yet dim wits like you conveniently overlook this savagery and dutifully follow your european masters in the condemnation of islamic nations that have not perpetrated one quarter of this type of brutality.

So what happened at Pearl Harbor?

I see how you stupiddly argue firmly about the things you don't know!

Read the story on Pearl Harbor and the Japanese declaration of war before you debate with people who are well capable of flogging you intellectually!

Keep focusing on islam -dont focus on the poverty in your own country caused by the US controlled IMF and world bank, dont focus on the proliferation of arms supplies which are run and controlled by americans, israelis and europeans, dont focus on the fact that living standards in nigeria continue to decline year after year as a result of nigeria's implementation of US and british designed economic policies, no continue to repeat like a dutiful sheep all the propganda that CNN BBC, NBC and Al Jazeera feed weak minded followers like you - dumb ar.se.

I can see from the type of language you use that you are not very intelligent - sex and violence are obviously your forte but not anything that involves intellectual ability.

the dictionary defines terrorism as: the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion.

what is terror? again the dictionary defines it as: a state of intense fear

What a DOLT!!!

You define words in dictionary terms as if reality looks upon dictionary!....This strikes me as another low in idiocy!...Have you seen intelligent lawyers arguing based on "this dictionary defines it as" ??.....What a bloody dolt!!!

in other words anything that causes another person to fear for their life constitutes a terrorist act - it does not matter whether it is done covertly or done out in the open - the bottom line is as long as you cause people to fear for their lives you are a terrorist.

It does matter you idiott!...The Japanese government went to war against the American government, which part of that is too difficult for you to understand? Both government saw each other as enemies and they put the life of their people at risk the moment they fired the first cannon. The people knew they were at war, when you are at war, you should expect to kill or get killed.

How you mix that up with a bizarre scenario of someone who in the name of prophet mullamed, straps a bomb to his under pant and intends to kill all those who do not believe prophet mullamed is genuine is beyond common sense.

Keep feigning ignorance like you don't know Arab nutters don't like the yanks...

The movie just instigated the deep hatred they have for the yanks - Arabs don't like Americans, that's the truth...

I have been to many online forums including British and African American forums - and everyone is saying the same thing except delusional tea-party members in America and probably delusional Nigerians as well... undecided

Yesterday, when Obama mentioned that "Egypt is neither an ally nor an enemy", the Egyptian president on realizing that this could signify the beginning of a major Policy shift quickly toughened his tone of condemning the riots and the Muslim brotherhood cancelled all proposed protests. Arabs don't like the yanks should not mean the yanks have to dumb themselves down and abandon their own way of life just to receive some form of acceptance from Arabs.

Most America's policies in the middle east are focused on keeping many countries at ease with Israel. It doesn't mean the US is afraid of severing ties if she wishes to do so, the mullahs have more to lose!

Americans are not know to be rational and deep thinkers - their brains are on steroids and they're irrational... That's what separates the British mentality from the American mentality.. As the world shifts to a bi-polar world, the yanks need to be more rational - and they need to understand that people live in other parts of the world, and they also need to endeavour to be more tolerant and learn how to respect other people and their culture(s)... There's only much 'fire power' can do in the world - live and let's live...

Sabre-rattling won't solve the problem - they need to take a cue from China's foreign policy...

Putin summed it up in his press conference after the Libyan debacle - the yanks need to take a chill pill and they also need to be more rational...

The yanks are the ones who need to be more rational and tolerant?

They can't even make a bloody low budget movie in their own country without some mullahs getting rabid as if Mohammed will fall from the sky if no one fights for him.

It is not enough that they get told off simply for exercising their constitutionally protected right to freedom of expression in their own country..they are now being asked to dumb down and live their lives less of who they were just so some "custodians of piss" won't get rabid?

People like you are indeed the reason europeans regard us as an intellectually backward race.

As usual you jump to the defence of the same people who enslaved your own ancestors and who as we speak work in collaboration with your corrupt leaders to keep you in a permanent state of poverty and misery.

What i find even more incredible is your attempt to excuse two major world wars which resulted in the deaths of millions not thousands, MILLIONS of people - i mean russia alone lost 22 million of its own citizens - some countries do not even have populations of up to 10 million citizens . Have you asked yourself why these wars took place in the first place ? no of course not because you are too busy bending over backwards defending the very same people who are as we speak rap.ing and pillaging your own country. The two major wars were about control of resources and territory - that is all the european cares about this is why they were butchering each other - it was a fight for total control of the world's resources s including the ones on your own continent and in inyour own country - but in your dim mind muslims are more of an immediate danger than the european or the american.

What can be more savage than dropping a nuclear bomb on a sovereign nation? do you know what it means to be caught up in a nuclear holocaust - do you know that the heat that emanates from a nuclear fallout VAPORISES YOU INSTANTLY - have you watched any re-enactments of the bombing of hiroshima or nagasaki, do you know that when the americans tested one of their bombs on an island in the south pacific the force of the explosion caused the entire island to SINK!!!do you know what it means to be slowly eaten alive from the inside from radiation - and you have the nerve to talk about savagery - your comments are beyond embarrassing.

Here's even a dumbed down version for you, so perhaps you may understand the difference between terrorism and conflict:

If you catch me fcking your wife in your bedroom and we both begin to fight with knives and everything else ---that is conflict. If i picked up a mallet and smashed your head in a million places, that's still fair and square.

On the other hand, if you got so offended about the remarks i made on prophet mullamed, so much so you hid bomb in your pants to blow up my poultry along with yourself in it ---that's terrorism!!! That's reprehensible!! Any religion that encourages such must be opposed by the society at large.

Countries have conflicts. They fight war!..In warfare, it's survival of the fittest. If Japan had the bomb before US did, they would have used it on the United States. It's fair and square!...Millions of Americans also died from the two wars. It is not okay that you savagely creatures attempt to hide your cruelty borne out of a silly excuse of religion with a justification of wars that have been fought in the past. That my friend, is retardeed!

Who started the first world war, were they Muslims?

Who started the second world war, were they Muslims?

Who killed about 20 millions of Aborigines in Australia, are they Muslims?

Who sent the nuclear bombs of Hiroshima and Nakazaki, were they Muslims?

Who KIlled more than 100 million of indians in North America, were they Muslims?

Who Killed more than 50 million on indians in south America, were they Muslims?

Who took about 180 millions of African peoples as slaves and 88% of them died and was thrown in Atlantic Ocean, were they Muslims?

No they weren't Muslims....... Muslim are not terrorists but rather the gullible ones among you will follow what the media has given to you... SMH...

What a prat! a botched copy and paste job with clearly ridiculous attempts to humanize these very savagely animals.

If you had any bit of common sense, you wouldn't have for once compared a civil war scenario or a war between two countries with the clearly erratic and unstable behavior of these "custodians of piss" who destroy everything in sight just because their prophet got insulted.

A terrorist is not someone who kills an enemy by every means necessary during a war time (civil or international outbreak)....a terrorist is someone who hides bombs in his pants, kidnaps and beheads innocent civilians, hijacks a plane full of women and kids all to achieve a religious end. A terrorist is someone who kills you because his holy book says it is the right thing to do.....Now take these definitions, slow thinker, and then sift through your questions above, you may get an insight or two on why people think or most Muslims as terrorists.

Phones / Re: Samsung, HTC To Block iPhone 5 Sales In US & EU Using LTE Patents by violent(m): 10:20pm On Sep 13, 2012
na2day!:

Thank you o jare,
Frand ke?
FRAND went out the window the moment Nokia sued Apple in 2009. Everything since has been a valid depiction of what the world would looked like if Google and Apple were the US and Russia during the Cold War and patents were nukes.

LTE is a complex standard covering many aspects of wireless communication (modulation, multiplexing, error correction codes, routing, codecs, etc.), each of which are built on many technological innovations. This is one of the failings of the current patent system, since in order to innovate in an area you need to implement many of the already existing technologies, the patents for which are owned by the companies which already dominate the space. In the case of LTE, over 50 companies claim to have patents required to implement it.

Samsung has 819 LTE patents which consist of about 13% of all LTE patents. They hold the most. I believe HTC has around 600 or something. Apple is currently #10 in LTE patents.

Samsung is holding apple by the balls now! grin
ahahaah! grin

Apple is NOT stupidd! It knows/expects Samsung to fight back given any chance, so It's been building up it's own LTE patents artillery in preparation for Samsung lawsuits. As at last year, Apple had NO LTE patent. It now has 318 in its possession.

The fact that Samsung has 819 LTE patents will not automatically mean any of them has been encroached. In thermonuclear war, know thine enemy is the first rule and if LTE patent is all the storm Samsung has got coming, I'd bet a dollar Apple saw Samsung's "fight-back" ability a million mile away before they decide to proceed with their lawsuits.

People like him believe that when bad things happen to good people, it must be because they have sinned and the only way to fix that is through 40 days of fasting asking God for forgiveness.

People of his type believe Pastors are demigods, and should never be questioned. I remember the fool once told me sometime last year that he is giving me "3 months" to experience the wrath of God for calling a slap-giving pastor a son of a dog. stagger: Pure demonic attack called the pressman.

Those who are schooled in spiritual things know about them, while those who are carnal men that know nothing about these things preach that they do not exist, without knowing that the spiritual controls the physical.

So the devil/demon wanted to attack you and rather than push you in front of a trailer or send boko haram your way, he pressed you to your bed while you were just about getting up?...is that a joke or something?

So this demonish devil travels around the world doing this to everyone? for what please tell? just to get a high? just to see how well and fast you can scream Jesus?

Sheeple like you can't stop living your lives in fear of demonic attacks. Every strange object, every funny looking plant, any weird squeak is attributable to some form of spirituality. What a waste of precious life!! sad

Anyone will expect that in a civilized society, an airline with an iota of shame may be embarrassed enough to have kept their customers waiting for 8 hours, but not these disgraceful lots. They were happy to show off their dirty undergarments to the world by fleecing their customers of money for aviation fuel shocked ....Could anything have been anymore shameful than this?

The other embarrassing bit was the fact that people sheeple were so stupid, they allowed themselves to be fleeced of their money and still flew with a careless airline that couldn't make enough provision for money for aviation fuel shocked ..i can't even think of a number of things that could go wrong!

why wasn't this airline reported to aviation authorities while it was still at Gatwick? It may have been grounded and forced to pay some heavy compensations.

How's he holding on to past? Can't you see the OP alluded to the fact that the guy was raised by his grandmother - and his consciousness is more 'traditional' than 'modern'?? That aside, there are certain things that feel more natural to different races than others - we as Africans can always emulate 'Western/Europeans' but we will never be like them... Some things are just inborn, and no amount of imitation and copying can change it... A look at how foreign religions haven't worked in the Nigerian context should tell you all you need to know...

There's nothing bad in copying or 'modernizing' - but overdoing everything is just never going to work... There are certain things you just can't change... The best method is by balancing both.

Contemporary + Traditional = Prof. Wole Soyinka... Best of both worlds

Embracing culture is great!...It is golden, It gives you an identity, it shows you know your roots.

That said, one may argue that the principal reason for obtaining a formal education in the first place, is to see the world in ways that our great grandparents have been unable to see it...to evolve more intelligently, dispel historical myths, make new discoveries and yet still hold on firm to the identity and roots we share.

Some folks many years ago believed in killing twins, pooing in the bush, drinking from the river, and all sorts. It will be disappointing if there are people in this generation who still view the world around them in the same way. A man who believes Ronaldo plays football with charm certainly does. A man who will rather make sacrifices to the gods than go to hospital for medical care still does. Professor Wole Soyinka, King Sunny Ade and a host of others are people who have all evolved intelligently with time.

But it is so unfortunate that when people give out vital info to assist others amend their lifestyles, people just pick the wrong point and tag it bad and thereafter others follow their condemnation legacy and derail the topic info, pls its uncalled for. or are u saying that u are unaware of what our sisters are doing presently? don't you know that infidelity, men having multiple girlfriends and lovers, etc can only be controlled by the women, how? if the women start to let men understand that what a woman needs from a man isn't just money, gifts and what have u, but true, unimaginable love that comes with integrity and respect. but instead, our women have made us to believe that love is rubbish, that the most vital thing a man needs to gain access to all women is money, is that the ideal way? why tag me evil for saying the truth? do u think men are happy giving even when they have it plenty and give? u need to hear what they talk about women at your backs...seriously, our women need to teach us that love takes more than money & material things.

as for the op's situation, only God can change it for good, cos men that womanizes hardly stop, and even when they seem to stop, they go on again at any slightest chance or green light from the next girl. she needs to go down her knees and cry to God to forgive her of her known and unknown sins, she also needs to intercede for her hubby, else, it may not stop. No counselling can change the man, imagine denying his kids? thats so unruly of him...just too bad, but op, your case is one too many...most ppl laughing at u & advising u to divorce aren't facing the best condition in their marriage or relationship, so don't even think about divorce, anyone laughing at u with the believe that hers is better, is just mistaking cos she is just being even unfortunate not to have caught hers, urs is even better u know who he is n can now find a way out. Interviewer: So why did you leave us (ABC company) a year ago.

Me: It wasn't an easy decision at that point but I'm glad i made the call. It has helped me gain a much broader perspective on the industry, explore new initiatives and also develop better skills (emphasize better). I expect that much of the experience gained working with a rival company will now help me identify which areas can be improved on in this role and also contribute innovative ideas in manufacturing that will keep us many miles ahead of competitors for the foreseeable future.

Note: from the above:

You haven't grovelled!(bad for your reputation. I personally hate to see a grown ass man grovel)

You haven't actually told them why you left (they know why you left already. They only want to hear you say I'm a greedy bastard )

You haven't showed that you regret leaving (This will limit your chances of negotiating for a better deal later on)

Outside the multinationals, and the banks, you can hardly get a decent wage anywhere else, or even a relevant job.

I don't see how this can be true!

@OP:

The question of how much money depends mostly on individual lifestyle and preferences.

I also think people who are in the UK should learn to take advantage of Investment opportunities in the western financial markets. Keeping all your money in a savings account in the hopes of coming to settle down in Nigeria someday is a very foolish idea.
