Health / Baby Buhari Dauda Is Dead by voxsaint(f): 11:46pm On Aug 09, 2017
Baby Buhari Dauda, whose genital was slashed off by his stepmother in Niger State, is dead.

Dauda died in Wada village in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state after a brief malaria illness.

The Director General of the Childs Right Agency, Mariam Kolo, who confirmed this to The PUNCH on Wednesday said Baby Buhari had slight malaria which made his temperature to rise, adding that he died even after he had been administered his prescribed drugs.

Kolo said the boy had been slated to undergo a genital transplant in the United Kingdom before he died.

She said the sickness was not a relapse on his health, as he was doing extremely well after a series of corrective surgeries carried out on him.

She expressed sadness over the death of the baby who is now over a year old.

The DG said the case of the stepmother who is currently being remanded in the Old Minna Prison would be determined.

She said Governor Abubakar Sani Bello and his wife were devastated by the death of the baby.

On June 18, 2016, then two-month old Buhari Dauda’s genitals were allegedly chopped off by his 17-year-old stepmother, Bara’atu Rabiu, who reportedly gave no cogent reason for the act.

The state government moved in to salvage the situation by working towards ensuring the baby grows up with a functional manhood.

The move was truncated by his demise.

Politics / Supreme Court Declares Ahmed Makarfi As PDP Chairman by voxsaint(f): 12:26pm On Jul 12, 2017
Supreme Court Affirms Ahmed Makarfi chairman of People's Democratic Party.

The Senator Ahmed Markafi-led faction of the party has won in the judgement written by the five-man panel of Justices of the apex court headed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, and that it was a majority decision.

At the opening of the hearing on Monday, Mr. Sheriff’s lawyer, Akin Olujimi, said the application was an abuse of court process because Mr. Makarfi ought to have requested the leave of court before making the application.

Sheriff had argued that the Makarfi’s faction was not recognised by the party and that he (Sheriff) as the legitimate chairman did not authorise anyone to file an appeal on behalf of the party. Mr. Olujimi prayed the court to dismiss the application. Responding, Mr. Makarfi’s lawyer, Wale Olanikpekun, prayed the court to disregard the argument of Mr. Olujimi, describing them as baseless.

But the Supreme Court in its ruling read by the Chief Justice of the Federation Justice Walter Onnoghen, said, according to the laws of the apex court, appeals must be filed within three months after the appeal court ruling and the application in question was so filed and as such is deemed filed.

He therefore gave a unanimous ruling in favour of the Makarfi faction, and awarded an unstated fine against the faction led by Mr. Sheriff.

Politics / We Were Sacked by Gov Wike Because We Told him The Obvious Truth by voxsaint(f): 7:33pm On Jun 24, 2017
Sacked Commissioners in Rivers State said that their sack was because they told the Governor, Barr Nyesom Wike, the obvious truth.

"We were like rubber stamp Commissioners just like the members of the Rivers State House of Assembly. We don't talk in Executive Council meetings. Only the Governor does the talking. The Governor starts the meetings with intimidating talks and ends the meetings with even more intimidating and threat-filled talks.

"We had an Executive Council meeting, there and then we told the Governor to treat us as people that are also part of the government. One of us stood up to tell the Governor boldly that he, the Governor and only him alone is the one making all the money while the Commissioners cannot pay their children's school fees, hospital bills and other bills. He went on to ask the Governor to explain to them what he did with the over N150 billion loan he took from banks in addition to statutory allocations from FAAC running into billons. He also asked the Governor to explain to them what he used the recently released Paris Club Refund of about N35 billion for. At this point the Governor got so livid and went straight to the bold Commissioner. His ADC intervened. That intervention would put to an end a free-for-all in the Council Chambers and the Governor said, 'I have the power to hire and fire and I will activate it here and now, Simeon, announce their sack immediately, enough of this nonsense'."

Politics / Come 2019, What Rivers State Deserves by voxsaint(f): 2:00pm On Jun 24, 2017
There's no denial that billionaire businessman Chf. Barr. Dumo Lulu-Briggs has struck a chord with Rivers people since the pressure groups and social media started clamouring his name as a possible replacement for the diminishing administration in the state.

Right now, Rivers State's economy is floundering, businesses are moving out at an unprecedented rate, foreign scholarship students are returning without completing their studies, students in tertiary institutions are protesting the refusal of the Wike led administration to pay bursary . Instead, criminals and cultists are empowered to trigger the level of insecurity. The rate of unemployment is growing at an alarming rate even when verifications of authentic Civil Servants have ended after one year and six months and the government is playing politics.

It's time for a bold leader in the Brick House. It's time for Dumo Lulu-Briggs to govern and make the long awaited difference.

Chf. Barr. Dumo Lulu-Briggs is the kind of leader our State needs right now to reverse the damages done by the Wike administration and we believe that he will do all it takes to restore Rivers State to her Nationally and Internationally acclaimed "Treasure Base" again.

Rivers State needs a business cum political leader whose sole interest is to explore and manage the numerous endowments of the state to the benefit of the people.

We need a leader of his own mind. One who is devoid of sectional leadership mindset. One whose visionary leadership is cast on the full spectrum of building a State that is bigger than him and his party platform.

He will not read his visions or intentions from stale words of paid script writers, but his actions will be drawn from the bounty of floating ideas enriched by creative engagements of his mind, powered by the dynamics of his vision as it relates to understanding the diversity of humanity.

A leader whose ethnic origin will not guide his conduct or choice of appointments. Rivers State does not need a leader who will concentrate on the resources of the entire state in developing only his ethic locality.

We have resolved not to allow any leader whose identity is frosty to continue with the deceit. We want a leader that must transform the intangible to tangible through spiritual objectives of practical human feelings. He will build roads; provide electricity, homes and food for the people, but only as a normal, natural responsibility of state and not a mediocre platform to play to the gallery and cheap sentiments of small minds.

Instead he goes beyond his comfort to set standards of integrity, strong ethical values and would live by practical example.

He must be a man who is not subject to unequivocal prediction of the people he is leading but working all round to figure out all he stands to achieve in the course of governance.

We need a made man with the freedom of mind and conscience to operate without the traditional limitations that govern the domain of myths. One who has tasted the bad and good of life.

Purposeful leaders do not give room for long and unnecessary presumptions. Their emergence is without force and authority but with several purposeful trial at the position brings to pass the time bound achievement plans.

Come 2019, Rivers State needs such a leader whose zeal will be consumed with the vision and objectives of his leadership charisma as one whose actions, commitments and ideals, that will be so loud and sharp that it cannot be blurred by the criticisms expected from opponents.

It is for these reasons stated above and many more, that we the concerned youths and residents of Rivers State, join our voices in calling on the man DLB to join the governorship race come 2019." We are convinced that only DLB can make Rivers State Great again.

"A drowning man grabs anything for survival but the man with lifebuoy doesn't struggle for survival because he is saved already". VAG.

Sorry to disappoint you that Chief Barr. Dumo Lulu-Briggs will not only win his unit, ward, LGA alone but will garner the minimum number of votes in the 23LGAs of the State because he is not venturing into politics to better his life but to alleviate the suffering of Rivers people. He is a serious minded businessman managing his businesses successfully and not hungry like other politicians who have never established any business talk more pf managing. He is the type of person Rivers State needs to reposition the State on the path of sustainable business development plan.

Governance in the hands of successful businessman like Chief Barr. Dumo Lulu-Briggs will be for all and not for the few that promote insecurity to win elections just to win elections and divert your entitlements. If you love Rivers State, join hands with the gentleman to surpass Lagos achievements due to selfless leadership continuity.

Did you watched NTA 9:00pm news of 09-06-2017 business segment, his company SEPLAT made the highest gains amongst other others.

Finally, I assure you that this time around, Rivers politics will definitely take a new turn that will surprise you because virtually all have seen the difference between good leaders and tyrannical touts and have resolved to support him to win and change the corruption thread that has hampered the growth and development of the State.

Interesting...
