those are good contributions. How do you make it such that when there is a correction, your report should include both the uncorrected result below the correct one so they can see the wrong score and the correct score.

Thanks for your suggestion. Why do you think excell is ok for the back end? Remember that more and more students are going to be registered as admision is a continous process.

This is a desktop (window based application) i have been wanting to go into. The problems this sytem should solve are;
1. It should keep records of students, courses offered by d student and and the scores through out the students stay in d school.
2. It should at any point in time, calculate the CGPA of the student,
3. It should give room for correction of result if later discovered that there was an error such as omition of scores by the course lecturer and during the generation of reports of the student's results, the particular error corrected and the corrected score(s) will be reflected so the report show the wrong result and correct result.
4. The report of the result either in PDF or word document format will be encrypted or made to be in readonly format (already researching on this but if u still have idea, shoot it).
5. The student must pass all courses he/she registered in order to graduate else, show outstanding courses.

That's all for now. VB.NET is our language. Suggest the database to be used because it will keep receiving data as time goes on.

Those are the problems for now.

I think i love the one of VBA macro which when trigard, will password the word document. More over, it must not be a pdf so, i also like ms doc but i dont know much about VBa macro, how they are created and triggerd. May God increase and bless you.

The idea coming to my head is to create a crystal report with which i use code to export it to pdf at run time but how do i password this pdf so it can not be edited by any body. It will contain grades and cgpa which can be manipulated if the pdf is editable. This is what my HOD wants to avoid. Thanks alot bro.

i was asked by my HOD to develop a CGPA system for the department but on of the requirements of the system is scaring me away so i decided to come for your help.

The rquirement is that a report be generated in pdf or any word document that can only be read (read only) and can not be edited by anybody as they will send the soft copy to the senate and they would not want any one to change grades or CGP. Any advice or help will be highly appreciated.

Other SIMPLE project i would suggest that you can do are as follows: The dsign and the implementation of ;
1. Farm management
2. Inventory system for a shop like pharmacy, supermarket, etc
3. Equipment maintenance database
4. Decision support for a financial institution
5. Course timetabling system for a university, a case study of your school

I advise you go on topics you would understand well and that would solve real life problems. I developed a grading system for lecturers after i finished defending my project and when i deployed the application and offered it to my lecturers, they were impressed and most were wondering why i did not use it as my project. They really loved it and are using it now. Though, i developed it using VB.NET. If i want to title it, i will call it "the design and implementation of university grading system". There are other simple topics shaa but do what u can defend convincingly to fetch you an A.

I have tot of using sql server but time is not there for me but i must surely learn to use sql server to implement it after our project defence. I have already got tutoriuals on that but i want to make use of ms access for now since bigafees said it is workable.

Hello, my final year project was on the design and the implementation of a payroll system which i successfully carried out using vb.net and ms access. So, it is a standalone application but my supervisor wants it to be run on a network of computers. I don't have idea of what to do. I want thank all those who have been helpful.

I developed an application with vb.net and ms access database and after creating the setup file for 32 bit and 64 bit operating system, the application run perfectly in 32 bit and can not run perfectly in 64 bit. It can read data from the database but can not write to it because it reads passwords and employee details from the database but can not edit or add new records. Pls help.

I'm not really good at imagination. I've been thinking of what situation or real life example i can use 2 nested loops with select case inside the inner loop. I've tried somethin like this:

Hi, please i need your advice. I'm almost graduating from computer engineering say by December. I'm not really good at hardway but i think i love software and i am trying with vb.net. I can use vb.net to develop windows applications for now and i'm still learnin new things about vb.net because i'm learning on my own. I know it will be good if i can support my bachelors degree certificates with a certification as i wish to get employed as soon as i am through with service but i want to be certified before then. I wish i could do all the studies on my own because of financial limitations but i don't know yet. Could you advice me if possible to learn on my own, how to go about it and the right certification i should get or register for. How do i write the exams? Please advice me on almost all the certifications that would soot me as software conscious person as well as their benefits and disadvantages. All your advice would be greatly appreciated. As i was figuring out, i opened the publish folder and discovered that the windows installer has the last 3 figure written , x86 and i was thinkin may the set up only included installer for 32 bit.

This is how it happens, when i click the set up, an agreement form comes up which i click on the "i agree" check box and a new window with progress bar comes up telling you its downloading components required for it to install and after a little loading of the bar, it aborts telling you it can't download the needed component. But in 32 bit, as soon as you click install, it installs and works just like that.

I'm thinking of how to register a user with the user's passport photograph in a window form using vb.net and to display this passport in his account as well, in a crustal report about the user. Is ms access good for this? Can someone expose the vb.net codes for this? Cheers!

after watching the video you sent, i was able to change the data source location and its really working fine after deploying it. You've really helped us. Now, We've discovered after testing it in different computers that it works fine in 32 bit OS both window 7 and XP but it does not install in 64bit windows, pointing to be missing one of the components needed for it to install in the 64bit OS. What could be the solution? I love the video you sent me. I wish i had something like that to learn with. Bye.
