Gameover! Give it to Tinubu.

I would have prefered Osibanjo for the sake of my people. Don't really know why they hate Tinubu that much. The man that laid the foundation of modern Lagos.

¤Back then in the 80s
life was boring, no internet, no atm, no media and the rest...
It was boring.

¤There was also no freedom of speach, and action, fear was in everyone cos its military rule, they can do and undo, nobody dare say pim....
The freedom now makes its a bit better now than then,
now people challenge politicians, soldiers and police, back then who born you well...

Lol, not like that, only Abacha was that hard. We had SAP riots all over the country. Aluta struggles here and there etc. Even Babangida had to settle the vocal ones with appointment. People like Wole Soyinka, Tai Solarin etc have to be settled with appointment. We were vocal but not brainwashed like today's youth.

Of course life was easier then than now. You leave for London on Friday to attend a party on Saturday, come back Sunday, go back to work on Monday.
Can you do that today?
Graduated from school on Thursday, started a government job 2 weeks later. Can you do that today? This was NOT the story of well connected people, but the story of average Nigerians then.
Finally, most people that travelled overseas then (for education) came back to Nigeria, not that they couldn't stay but because Nigeria was good. Can you do that today?

Less than 1% of the population enjoyed what you are talking about. The main population wallowed in abject poverty then. What was the %age of university graduate then.
In my village, my dad was the only person that had car around 70s. Now the whole village is littered with cars and mansions.
The people eat rice once a week. No electricity in the village then. None could afford gen then.
No comparison between now and then. This generation are enjoying more
In my university days 88-93, you hardly see students having ordinary tv's in their rooms. But now tv's is a small thing. Students now have everything, Tv, laptops, phones, tabs, car etc.

Nothing like good old days. That was only for the few rich and contented folks

It is really heart breaking to see zero trust in the NA. And it is not as if they have concrete proof that the army is lying , they just believe it. And these guys are out there putting their lives on the line daily to protect them… They won’t even give them the benefit of doubt.

May God strengthen and protect our gallant Nigerian soldiers. We will win this war!

Most of them are paid to tarnish the image of the government. So both good and bad news are twisted to fit their narrative.

I see no reason a young man/woman with prospects of good future will be on Nairaland everyday wailing profusely. Makes no sense to me.

Health / Re: Nigerian Doctors: We Shed Tears Of Joy After Receiving First Pay In Saudi Arabia by wazobia68: 8:59am On Aug 29, 2021
“In Nigeria, resident doctors are paid between N280,000 to N300,000 at the federal institutions per month. The states pay N110,000 to N150,000 per month. Consultants at the federal institutions are paid between N540,000 to N580,000 per month.

We only complain about the FG. While the state government act innocent. Meanwhile they are the main problem. See them paying 110k-150k while FG pays 280k-300k. Our mumu never do

Yes, not all Muslims are evil!

But u are now economising the truth that the Bandits are not terrorist?

Hmmmm.... What is their difference from Boko Haram?

U can mince the truth cos your family has not been touched by this bloodsucker mayhem

No need bringing my family into this. If you will be fair, you would know the Fulanis are suffering the same fate if not more. And the army have been bombing their hideouts.
To you question, the difference between Boko haram and Bandits is, Boko wants to establish an islamic country using violence. While the bandits are criminal groups robbing, killing and kidnapping. And I know very well, the government is fighting both the same way.
And mind you, Nigeria is not the only country facing this problem.

Now tell me, what are the bandits doing? Killing innocent Nigerians, forcing them to leave their land, and the government is enforcing policies that will favor the Fulani's against the wish of the people. What is the difference between what the Fulani's are doing and what is happening in Afghanistan? When the chips are down everybody will fill the heat. Afghans were supporting the Talibans and now they are IDPs.

Boko haram, IPOB are all groups that desire political change, so it is quite easy to declare them as terrorist if they use violence. But the bandits are like armed robbers and kidnappers not having any political aim. Or do you want the government to declare every robber and kidnapper a terrorist.
And please it is very wrong to pick on all Fulanis. Not all Fulanis are bandits, not all Igbos are IPOB, not all Kanuris are Boko haram. etc

We want him to designates them as terrorist that they are as he designated Ipob and other group. The problem with Buhari is nepotism, he love his people more than the whole country. Some of us work for bubu more than most of you buharias. If they pay you millions of naira to enter where we went for bubu you will not. Today I regret doing that because he is President for Muslims only. " I belongs to everybody I belongs to nobody ". History will never forgive bubu.

See the meaning of terrorist below. Bandit is more appropriate

Means they lost 138.1m + 197.1m =335.2m the previous year

No single project or development in Edo state since he has been voted in as a governor.
No single upliftment of a single Benin person?

He is still battling with the candidate he campaigned and defeated in the governorship election?
Is that not foolishness and lack of leadership ideas?
Is this how to better the lives of Edo people?
Only fools and idiots will be happy with this news about revoking his fellow criminal occupancy, and it is obvious it is only the fools that are not even Edo indigenes that are celebrating this foolishness.

Open your mind and stop being clownish

The world is bleeding.

According to the report.

Civil unrest rose 10 per cent globally, driven by the coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic caused a global rise in civil unrest and political insecurity, according to the GPI report. There were 14,871 violent demonstrations, protests and riots recorded globally in 2020.

The report said COVID-19 was a “multiplying force” in future political instability and civil unrest. It added the level of this unrest going forward is likely to hinge on the speed and effectiveness of economic recovery. Countries with less debt and higher levels of positive peace were more likely to recover faster.

Moorish:
Can any of the more intelligent and economic savvy ones here please explain how exchange rates work and why the naira to dollar rate was better during GEJ’s regime ?

Was it buhari’s policies that caused this ? Or some other factor ?

Nigeria can only print Naira, we don't print dollars. So if the country is not earning enough foreign exchange through exports etc, we will have shortage of foreign exchange which will likely lead to devaluation. That is simple economics. The Nigerian economy is not diversified, we rely heavily on crude oil export for our dollar needs. So if there is disruption in crude sales/price, we have this problem.
Now, Nigeria is not selling enough crude oil, due to OPEC restrictions as a result of covid 19 pandemic. Most countries are not operating fully so the demand for crude is reduced. Also India, I believe our biggest oil market have cut oil imports due to the ravaging effect of covid 19.
In a nutshell, this is the major reason.

We have other factors like, fuel importation, low productivity, population growth, education etc

“Nigerians recall that President Buhari on 20th May 2020 signed an executive order on implementation of financial autonomy for state legislature and state judiciary, which the same PDP governors have rejected.

Yet the Governors will be the ones shouting for restructure. But they have hijacked all the powers in the state and want more from FG.
You would think their interest is for the masses, not knowing they want state police just to rig elections and intimidate opponents.
