Evolution and Change of Location: From Lagos, Nigeria to Atlanta, Georgia, The United States of America.
On March 1st this year, The Headies Awards announced that the 15th edition of its award show themed “Join The Movement” will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, with a partnership from the US consulate.
It garnered a lot of controversial opinions on the internet because this is the first time the legacy award ceremony has left Nigeria. While some people believe that it’s not the right thing to do, since the award is from Nigeria and made for Nigeria, then apparently, it should stay in its home country. Some agreed that it’s the best way to choose to take it to the diaspora and create a new path.
The Headies need the foreign agencies to refocus their attention on the award show. Therefore, the most recurring explanation from the organisers and affiliates for the Headies taking a Nigerian award from Lagos to Atlanta is “the spirit of expansion”.
Afrobeat to the world is in sway, and the music is making waves in new markets. Why not export the award shows too? Interestingly, this is the direction the organisers want to go, but it’s hard to make an argument against profit and the flight of our arts and the systems that support them. Headies is aiming for expansion, and the US represents an opportunity for a global brand push. Picking the USA was not a mistake.

It’s a plan to hunt down some of the most talented acts, put them through a system, and find a star.
This is another amazing strategy by The Headies. It gives the artist range and platforms to kickstart his way into stardom.
The Show Quality: Host, Performance and Arrangement
Headies award lingering problems seems not to have abated despite the change of location. From audio to visual, stage management and the whole set-up. At the end of it all, you wonder if a 20% pass mark was not too much to give.
As much as the organisers of The Headies Award show should be applauded for their consistency and relevance for over a decade and a half, it seems as though priorities are not placed on what to upgrade on, considering previous errors and mistakes. Here are some of the things we discovered about the 15th edition of The Headies award.
Based on the quality of the show and the change of locations, Headies didn’t deliver on their American dream. There were obvious disorganisations on the stage and even in the arrangements of the venue. Anthony Anderson, an American comedian, paired with Osas Ighodaro to host a Nigerian music award show, didn’t end well. There are noticeable lapses displayed by the two hosts on the stage.
Questionable Winners In Certain Categories
Talking about the most questionable winner in all the nominee’s categories, then it should be no other person than “Olamide” Badoo, who won the award for the best rap album with his album “CARPE DIEM”. It’s no doubt that favouritism came to play because “Carpe Diem” is not a rap project; it’s an afro pop album that Olamide used to explore new sounds. What exactly is rap? In that group, there exists “Clone Wars Vol. 5 – The Algorithm” by Show Dem Camp, “Golden” by A-Q, “Mafia Culture, Vol. 2.0” by Idowest, “Providence” by Ladipoe and “Sex Over Love” by Blaqbonez.
Blaqbonez dropped a life-changing album, “Sex over love”, and some critics have since said that he played an instrumental role in reviving hip-hop from the grave. It’s nearly heart-shattering how the Headies managed to ignore him and the impact he has had recently on hip-hop.
It’s quite puzzling how some names appear in certain categories. At this point, it’s glaring that no one knows the metrics being used in placing artists in their respective categories. What’s “Loading” ft Bad Boy Timz, a street pop, doing in the Best Rap Single category?
In a list where we have “Breathe” by A-Q Feat Chike, “Crown Of Clay” by Vector & Mi Abaga Feat. Pheelz, “Early Momo” by Vector Feat. Goodgirl LA, “Feeling” by Ladipoe Feat. BNXN (Buju), “Tycoon” by Show Dem Camp Feat Reminisce & Mojo.
The most ridiculous category in The Headies category is the producer of the year category, which needs to be adjusted. The volume all around the year is ridiculed & only one song is nominated.
Considering the sheer volume and quality, P Priime should be the producer of the year. Little wonder Sarz dedicated his award to him on stage while delivering his award speech.
In all honesty, “Cash App” by Bella Shmurda ft Zlatan & Lincoln deserves to win the best Street-Hop Artiste and not Nektunez & Goya Menor’s “Ameno Amapiano (Remix)” considering its influence and how it blew. Although, if “Zazoo” by Portable, Poco Lee and Olamide was not disqualified, it would have been the best contender on the list.
Don Jazzy And D Banj Saga: Drama on Stage
Some people had opinionated that perhaps Mavin artistes’ inability to win major categories could be responsible for the lukewarmness reaction Don Jazzy gave to D Banj when he called him up on stage after he was awarded.
Some have said Don Jazzy was shy. But could that be true? I guess not. Don Jazzy was not happy and not in the right mood for D Banj’s shenanigans.
Could it be from their rift? Well, it’s hard to rule it out.
In all, despite the loopholes and errors, we cannot deny the Headies Award’s influence over the Music Industry in Nigeria and Africa. Every year people talk down about the award show, but artists still celebrate themselves anytime they get nominated or awarded.
However, Headies needs to be upgraded. An institution or academy should be constructed. The days of fans voting should be eliminated. Professional music critics, veteran musicians, erudite music experts and producers should join this academy.
There should be room for transparency and credibility. Who voted for which category? Show us the score.

Good option is postgraduate studies in Germany. You deposit the fund into a block account, which gets released to you upon arrival in Germany. However, the process in obtaining a visa as a Nigerian in Nigeria is onerous and the worst I've read in my entire life. This is because due to the sheer demand of people who want to flee Nigeria, Covid-19 disruption which resulted in logjam of applications and maybe a change to dissuade prospective applicants, the process for applying a student's visa has two categories - A and B. Where Category A: students who got scholarships from governments, organisations or the school. Basically, you're funded by a third party. Also, if you have a first class within a certain period of time (check the embassy and thread). This Category will have your application processed quickly and you get invited for an interview. Category B: You have a 2.1 and below, self-funded etc. This will have your application processed at a later date and takes a year (again, check the thread). See why I mentioned it being onerous and worst ever read about? You have folks in Category B who got admitted but because they are in that category, their visa interview dates are allocated at dates beyond resumption dates and sometimes the following year. That's, you apply for admission for say September batch but don't get a visa interview till say June meanwhile classes commenced the previous year. Compare it to Japan where you apply for admission into the October intake, get a visa interview once your certificate of eligibility arrives (usually a month before, that's, August), head to embassy, get the visa and travel to Japan. Also, you're married and a father, this will incur more expenses if you intend carrying them along.
Better option is Canada express entry. You go through the process and all things being equal, you get ITA sometime next year. However, 5M will not be enough as a family man with two children. If I'm not mistaken, single applicants are required to possess POF of C$12, 000. Unless you go alone through the competitive process, you're patient, have a very high IELTS score of 8888, be prepared to learn French if need be etc.
Best option is the United States With your level of experience and hopefully a good grade, you can apply for a direct PhD and here's the juicy stuff; as a PhD student, you don't pay tuition fees as the department will waive it for you, get a stipend, you can bring your children and wife to the US; and yes, the school will fund you for that. Also, you have an easier path to green card and eventually citizenship after graduation. Now, the process entails you looking for a professor whose research theme aligns with yours. Send cold emails (see this link for in depth details: https://anumightytm.medium.com/part-two-guide-to-graduate-studies-in-the-united-state-of-america-us-38142f48d1f0), write the GRE to improve your chances, hopefully your IELTS score has a Listening score of at least 8 to improve your chances of getting teaching assistantships. Unfortunately, it's late to commence the process now as most schools offer funding for Fall season (August) as opposed to spring (March/April). So, what do you in the interim? Prepare very well for the journey and guess what? You will spend max N2M (inclusive of flight tickets) for this option because at the end of the day, you are not paying tuition fees nor providing living expenses. Why PhD instead of a masters? You're 31, don't have about 15M+ to present to the visa officer, long work experience and married with two children. An MSc doesn't favour you as most times, the school will not fund you. Trust me, if you opt for this option, you would be in the US mid-2023.
P.S. Forget the Australian option, you don't have the money as it's way more expensive than Canada's, your age doesn't favour you and maybe your occupation is not in high demand.

The corporation is optimising a lot of positions. That was the reason for the initial delay in releasing the list before all this talk of promotion and retirements.

Like 2 persons said that EH is abt 300, eventhough it's more than that, based on the GMD's comment at the NAPE's webinar in June, I don't see EH being up to that of GT. We will be lucky if it's up to 600...and nilnilsef said abt 400 will retire btw Nov. and Feb., going by that rate there should b enough space for EH to occupy. kachii77: this thread it haff tey...loool...how is everybody doing....hope our EH ppl are holding strong...local men i dey greet o...it seems what is currently delaying EH has already been established here and is in line with what a contact told me recently...let me just add ...what ever pressure u guys are putting on govt officials keep on putting it e dey work.....so here is what i heard there has been so much pressure on them from govt about EH since, they didnt also advertise all available EH roles for a reason..now they didnt want a situation where someone outside would come 2 take up a role that someone within the system could fill up just because the person within the system doesnt meet up with d required number of years because he was working in nnpc.....so what they now did was ppl on SS2 who were qualified were given an opportunity to write exams for DM straight instead of going to SS1 while those in SS1 who were qualified based on some indices used were given opportunity to write for Manager straight as against DM as there were lots of vacancies due to the amount of ppl retired already...to avoid what usually used to happen in d past where because ur colleague from outside who had gotten 2 a particular level higher outside comes in and automatically becomes ur boss just because he has a particular number of years experience.....so its what they are currently writing now ...am sure once they are done they'll have an idea of the roles available and depending on how buttons are pressed they could still take more EH than earlier planned....that was what i was told sha.....GT's hope u guys are also enjoying ur programmes...peace all....

As a concerned parent, i have taken steps by spending a lot in hiring speech and behavioural therapist, and seeing a development pediatrician with some success achieved at least in getting him stable to be able to absorb what he's being taught in class.
With diagnosis done confirming the mildness, i was encouraged to allow him do things regular children do which will help him grow out of the disorder.

The Senate ad-hoc committee investigating the N40 billion corruption allegation against the interim management committee (IMC) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) was stunned on Thursday when an official accused unnamed members of the parliament of ‘hijacking’ the commission’s budgets over the years.
In his submission, at the hearing, the acting deputy director, projects, NDDC, Cairo Ojougboh, said the budgets of the commission ”have always been hijacked by the leadership of the committee on NDCC from both chambers for their personal gain”.
He asked the National Assembly ”to let the commission function in peace.”
“The budget(s) of the NNDC from 2001 till date, has (have) always been hijacked by the two chairmen of the committee; the chairman in the house and the chairman in the Senate,” the angry official said. ”Not one kobo has been misused since the coming of the IMC.
“We want to beg the National Assembly that they should allow the people of the Niger Delta to grow. Since the inauguration of the IMC, we have not known peace. It has been one false allegation after another.
“Some contracts supplied to ‘an NDDC warehouse’ along Benin-expressway. The warehouse belongs to Peter Nwabaoshi (a senator). About 2900 emergency projects were awarded and Mr Nwabaoshi collected 1000 of them saying he will distribute them among senators and House of Representatives members. But when asked, lawmakers denied receipt. We are being accused because we are working for the region and because they want to take over the commission.
“NGOs were paid N50 billion but they (chairmen, committees of both chambers) cut it to N49 billion each. They want us out to put people they can control.”
Tense session
The Senate and House of Representatives are probing an allegation the NDDC interim committee ‘squandered’ N40 billion within three months. They also seek account for other financial transactions within this period.
At the investigative hearing on Thursday, the lawmakers grilled members of the board who appeared before the committee over alleged discrepancies in the budget submitted by the commission, the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The chairman of the committee, Olubunmi Adetunmbi, pointed out that while the commission said it spent N81.5 billion, the AGF submitted N82 billion and CBN submitted N92.2 billion between October 2019 and May 2020.
The committee sought explanations as to how other allocations in the budget were implemented. They include:
Condolences – N122 million, Consultancy – N83.3 million, N3.14 billion – COVID-19, N486 million – Duty Tour Allowance (out of which the current EIMC spent N305.3 million between February and May 2020).
Others are N1.9 billion – Lassa fever intervention spent by both IMCs, N900 million – Legal Services, N61 million – Logistics, N2.6 billion – medicals.
Defence
Although there was no tangible explanation for the differences in the budgets submitted by the commission, the AGF and CBN, the Acting Managing Director, Kemebradikumo Daniel Pondei, however, said the EIMC ”inherited so much debt that needed to be cleared upon assumption of office.”
He also said allowances like duty tours were not paid to staff for years hence the need for such allocations.
He further said the NDDC has not awarded any contract apart from the COVID-19 contract awarded by the president.
“We refused to do so, so as not to add to the confusion. The major interventions for COVID-19 were medical, palliatives, publicity,” he said.
Mr Ojougboh also denied allegations that the commission sacked some of its staff.
“Anyone who has said they have been sacked or suspended let him bring the letter. We have not sacked or suspended anyone. No one is being witch-hunted. Staff on leave are receiving full salaries,” he said.
Earlier, a representative from the Office of the Accountant General, Slyvia Okolie, said the OAGF submitted the NDDC’s audit report from 2016 to May, 2020 to the committee.
He said in 2017 – N64 billion, 2018 – N71 billion, 2019 – N71 billion, January – May 2020 – N34 billion has been released to NDDC.
Quarterly releases were suspended since June pending the outcome of the investigation, he said.
The investigative hearing will continue on Friday, the chairman said. All invitees are expected to be present – including the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, who failed to show up.
This is not the first time the lawmakers would be having a faceoff with another government official over the activities of an agency or ministry.
PREMIUM TIMES reported how the minister of labour, (state), Festus Keyamo, accused lawmakers of trying to manipulate a recruitment process to their advantage.
That is not correct. Ask any nnpc Staffs you know. They will tell you the entire NNPC is under staffed. The lack of staff gave suport staff more room to settle for staffs duties, even in sensitive area, since they are the only ones excessively available. For a unit of 36 staff, if you're lucky you see 8 direct staffs, the rest are support staffs. Couple with the 440 dropped recently. This is what I know. How many staffs are even in the refineries that you are talking about? And who said all the staff will be move out?.
Before the EH was advertised, the space for them were already in existence. So, keep the faith, our day is closed. And the Almighty God will be Glorified.
Guys, try to understand our peculiar situation as EH. A lot of us have jobs we are doing and wouldn't risk it fighting for the one we are not even sure of yet. Our employers, colleagues and bosses are also on these social media platforms. I for one, my employer works closely with NNPC. I cannot dare to stick out my neck openly hustling for NNPC job. Na coded things we still dey do until it materializes.
However, like someone mentioned before, the deliberate silence by NNPC may be strategic and possibly for the good of the recruitment exercise and for us in general. I would just say we should give them the benefit of doubt. We cannot behave like the GTs in the way they troll NNPC on social media for obvious reasons. Basically, I'm saying that we shouldn't act in a way that would endanger our jobs just in the quest of chasing another one which we aren't sure of yet. Good morning

That is a very valid point. There was already pressure to bring in such names during the GT recruitment, and even greater pressure for EHs too.
My suggestion, do a publication in major newspapers. Though it is expensive, but it will definitely elicit the required response. Even buhari will get to know about it. Not solely obviously, but they have an input. That explains the composition of the panels at the interviews. Am sure you must have noticed the nature of the questions which were asked, rather more technical than run-of-the-mill as with previous recruitments.
A review of the vacant spots is on-going, after the report is submitted, then a case can be made for the validated vacancies to be filled by Experienced Hires if need be.
Like every other major corporation in the world, the NNPC is adjusting to modern day realities as regards cost management and staff optimization. The vacancies of 2016 obviously may not be valid in 2020, so do not expect all those spaces to still be available. This is the reason why the EH recruitment has experienced delays.
Also know that the corporation has decided to ensure Units determine who they recruit based on the expedient need for that personnel, thus cost of recruitment of EHs is bourne by the Unit recruiting, hence a seeming reluctance internally to bring in midlevel hires who would cost more and not likely deliver as immediately as expected (from past experience). I believe true sources can verify this claim...
We can only pray we are deemed expedient by our future line managers to warrant a call-up.
Guys, EH recruitment will definitely see the light of the day. NNPC had about 9000+ employees(true source from nnpc) before the 2019 recruitment. This figure is arguably inclusive of contract staff.
Pls note the following:
1. There wouldn't have been vacancy advert without vacancies or possible room for vacancies for the experienced hire 2. A lot have retired and many are still retiring 3. NNPC is still expanding 4. Do not think that people are getting employed through back doors. I'm not saying it's not possible. U can easily get into NNPC through internal advert position or public/external advert position as a permanent staff. Anything can happen if it's on a contract basis. 5. Possible things that can happen that EH recruitment does not to come to conclusion is for the list to be completely abandoned for reasons based known to the corporation, which sometimes may be political due to change of power. But glory be to God that MKK is still on track with what he met on ground. 6. You may wonder why the recruitment slowed after transition of power, yes, the new man onboard wanted to be satisfied with the process. So keep calm. 7. FG ban on recruitment is affecting NNPC as well. GT has already been completed before the ban. There is still hope for EH 8. The oil price is also a problem. However, government is trying it's best to ensure that the economy is not too bad, hence, frowns at loss of employments and also embraces openings for new employments. 9. For the team in charge of the forensic audit on the recent GT recruitment, who knows if this comes up in times like this, for the issue of EH to be mentioned? 10. Also note that there are a lot of interests in this EH recruitment. Hence the big shots won't allow this opportunity to slip their hands. This is now giving the common man whom God has destined to work in the corporation to have his way. 11. Also note that the people praying for the success of this recruitment are many, if at all, there is any against it because those that didn't get to interview level have long moved on with their lives. 12. At this point, I want the faithfuls here , whether Muslims or Christians to understand that nothing is impossible for God Almighty to do. He can change any situation. If we continue to call Him in one faith, God has no option than to answer our prayers. God knows that if we are successful, they are a lot of people that will be depending on us for survival. He knows our heart desires. He knows how to make us happy. Please join HOOHA, TEKOA, and others for prayers. I'm in already. If God did wonderful things in the past, He can still do it again. The reason your source is not sure is because there is no concrete reached on this matter.
But from feelers, the corporation is overstaffed already with staff from the refineries all redeployed to Corporate HQ awaiting posting.
Also there will be a re-skilling exercise for those to be transferred to new units in the corporation, so maybe bringing in EHs may not be such a favourable idea.
Like I said, what we need is prayers, because in all honesty, the forces now do not favour the cause of the EHs.

I can tell you for sure, the EH recruitment has not been concluded. As you can see from my previous comment below:
Also note the Major recruitments within the organisations: 1991, 2002 and 2012; the 1991 staff are nearing their retirement which will spur more promotions and a strong desire to replace from the bottom and mid levels. Whether EHs will be deemed necessary to plug the gaps at intermediate SS levels (SS5-SS3) is what we should pray for.
There is still a chance it may happen. That is why I called for prayers as regards the matter.
But instead of cancellation, why they can't hold the list of successful applicants till the thing get better. The same thing happened to NLNG 2014 recruitment exercise, it was Ebola period and they hold the list of successful applicants till the thing get better. EHs resumed 2016 and GT resumed 2017/2018.

We are currently 3rd in Africa, 30th in the world, won bronze with a relatively young team at afcon I can't remember when last we won matches with ease and qualified for competitions without calculators or relying on other results going our way.
