Romance / Re: Your Childhood Crush? by wham(m): 9:44pm On Oct 21, 2007
Betty Cooper of Archie Comics was my Sweet Crush when I was young.

At first she was much older than I was.

She seems to have the magic for Age because I grew older but she never aged.

I still love her anyway.

I've met her twice -in my dreams

Nairaland / General / What Do You Do When You Get Mad? Any Tantrum Descrptions? by wham(m): 4:23pm On Oct 21, 2007
angry ANGER MANAGEMENT 101 angry

So, What do u do when u get mad?

Describe your tantrums or Fits.

I used to call my tantrums "Getting CrUShy!!!" That was when I was much younger

Not that crush u guys are thinking of o! I just coined my own meaning.

It was a word (humour) to describe how I felt like crushing something to pieces when I got miffed.

I know, They say "Anger lies in the bossom of fools'

But however, we still get angry on the inside, Dont we?

Nairaland / General / Re: Should Arms Be Legalized In Nigeria? by wham(m): 9:37pm On Oct 18, 2007
@Topic

Do u want Nigerians to wipe themselves off the face of the earth.

The air will constantly be filled with gun-shots from provoked Nigerians killing one another + Wicked and gready ones oppressing their neighbours.

As the last poster said, they need to work seriously on our police force.

If You have watched the Movie 44Minuites (Based on True-life), you will see that the robbers had more sophisticated weapons than the local police. They held the town for a good while. The local police never expeted such an attack. They suffered serious loss and injury in their ranks. Since that day, the police of that town has been equipped with more serious gadgets and training.

That is the case of the Nigerian police. Who wants to loose his life for a few thousands of Naira and a cheap old rusty riffle.

I heard a group of them were even crying one day on patrol when a bunch of highly armed Robbers ambushed them and told them they must follow them to carry out their operation (Just a hear-say).

@birikisu

At least u are not saying u have a phobia for water. U can start from the shallow part of a pool with about 2 friends (swimmers) around 4 support.

U can overcome ur fears if u want to.

U can bcom a swimmer if u set ur mind to it.

But as many have said, one of the keys to swimming is to BE AT PEACE WITH THE WATER

Take long calm breaths to help u relax

The lower picture looks like u guys were standing on the head of a friendly Giant sea monster.

Looks like a more crude version of the head of
the Rock-man guy in Fantastic4

Can't remember his name

3 of the Guys with u are actually standing at the entrance of its mouth. Kind of on its lower lip.

The monster is sure friendly not to have gulped them all up
Sports / Re: Do You Love to Swim? by wham(m): 6:24pm On Oct 15, 2007
Sea water has higher density as compaired to in-land water cos of the High salt content.

Its much easier to float in Sea Agua

@gleyo
Nice Pics

@Oluite

Some Nigerian Pools have the habit of not changing the pool water when due.

Some just clear the pool of particles using a net and then deck it over-and-over with Chlorine to treat it.

Chlorine in the water makes you dehydrate faster than usual.  So excess Chlorine=Faster Dehydration.

Women Skin is thinner than men's. It contains more fatty tissue and would be affected if there's any fat solluble substances used to treat the water (thats for pools that buy CHEAP treating chemicals).

The Sun could also be responsible for your skin toning. If it tones your skin nicely & evenly it would make u look more beautiful grin

, Yes Suky,

By the way I got a funny email from someguy claiming he has some project he wants us to carry out. He said he got my email from nairaland. I replied him that he should drop his contacts. He gave me an international No. which I discovered was Gambian.

He's got a Nigerian name (Seun) different from the Nigerian name he used as his yahoo ID.

I'm expecting to hear from him again. I dont want to jump 2 conclusions too fast sha.

But I aint going to fall 4 no nonsense.

Quite Interesting!

Are u a Guy or lady? I know ladies find it easier to float without any movements cos of thier less body density.

When u say thread d water do u mean like Bruse-Almighty did?

@MoOdyLaDy
Don't mind my stubborness then. I was being too adventurous.

@ikamefa
Do u know that ladies have a better chance to stay afloat in water cos their bodies are less dense. They are made up of more fatty tissue than men. i had a young friend who could float on water facing down for abt 30 secs without even wading her arms or feet (Lying still).
U can learn sis. Its not too hard. U most not become a fish o! But just find time to learn .

Swimming is a very good exercise. It tones almost all ur body muscles including small ones. Its a good exercise 4 weight, and shaping too. Its good 4 relaxation too.

Find some time during ur week ends. But pls, never go to the pool alone and always watch urselves when u swim. Keep an eye on urselves. Dont exceed ur depth level.

@oluyele
How are u doing?
Keep up the swimming. Its good for ur body and ur health.

Maybe we could chat one-on-one someday

Cheers!

@MoOdyLaDy

Did u know how to swim then in 2003? If you did, How come You have to learn it again? It comes instinctively. Maybe all u need is a few mins back in a pool.

I nearly got drowned in a river in my mums village in 1998 (apparently, I had heard the river was forbiden to swim in but I was stubborn). Then I didnt even know nothing about swimming.
Struggling in the water only made my drown faster. I had to engage my feet in a rhythmical way as i had watched in movies to keep mi self afloat. I'll never forget that day.

One of the small play-rafts that we were playing with then drifted towards me and I clung unto it. It drifted to the river bank and I was safe.

I thank God for saving my life. I swore to learn to swim that day. My elder brother was a frustrating teacher but I know how to swim now. I still want to learn more skills.

Culture / Re: Why Are Nigerians So Tribalistic? by wham(m): 11:03pm On Oct 03, 2007
Tribalism sucks.

A lot of us have been guilty of prejudice at one time or the other,
especially because of the influence of the tribalism culture around us here in Nigeria.

For those of us who want to put a check to it:

Lets put a conscious effort not to stereotype people of other tribes.
We have top give ourselves a chance first before the crucifiction.
We also have to overlook some trivial issues/attitudes since the people grew up in them.

It's hard I must admit but thats the only roadmap to our future even if some will never accept that Naija is ONE
Crime / Re: Sexual Abuse Or Rape. by wham(m): 6:41pm On Sep 30, 2007
I've even heard of a lady who used to be molested by her older cousin who was also a girl then. This continued during her teenage years till she got in2 school.

So her parents had this cousin of hers stay with them not knowing she was tutoring their poor daughter the art of lesbianism.

Be careful who u admit into ur house. Unfotunately, it aint written on the face. So, Watch and pray
