Computers / Re: How Do I Remove Hyperlinks Permanently From My Microsoft Word? by wham(m): 8:42pm On Aug 08, 2007
Microsoft Word can format Web and e-mail addresses as hyperlinks (hyperlink: Colored and underlined text or a graphic that you click to go to a file, a location in a file, a Web page on the World Wide Web, or a Web page on an intranet. Hyperlinks can also go to newsgroups and to Gopher, Telnet, and FTP sites.) as you type, but you can turn off this feature if you want.

On the Tools menu, click AutoCorrect Options, and then click the AutoFormat As You Type tab.
Under Replace as you type, select or clear the Internet and network paths with hyperlinks check box.

@hayprof

Have u tried this:

If u use any XP sp2 or higher, while ur laptop is connected to the net, go to device manager, start by right clicking the the first prblematic device and choose update driver, then choose to update it from the internet (allow windows to search on the internet for suitable driver)
Computers / Re: Drivers! Drivers! Lets Share Drivers! by wham(m): 8:18pm On Aug 08, 2007
The last times I tried to use driverguide.com it was frustrating. They allow u register for free but when u try to log in, u'll find out the site keeps on rejecting u somehow.

Has the web site repented?
Education / Re: www.jamb.org.ng The Most Stupid Website So Far,pls Comment On Their Website Here by wham(m): 9:28pm On Aug 07, 2007
Why do Nigerian give contact jobs like website design to incompitent and shody pple?
because they have something to benefit or the website company belong to one of them.

For personal gain Nigerians have compromised standards.

The Jamb online reg was created to make Jamb reg available and easier to all. Its a pathetic paradox that I did TDB for 2 nights before I could painstakinly register my cousin for jamb. I spent so much money in Cafes during the day for the same reason because my internet access was at night.

What a life.

The Govt has to scrap that site!!

I think it was better when we used to fill hard copy forms and submit 2 jamb

The Art of Flash Animaton- by Mark S. Smith

Cartoon Animation -by Preston Blair

The Animator's Survival Kit-by Richard Williams

The Illusions of Life-by Ollie Johnston (Disney)

These are Good books not only for 2d animation. They could teach some basic skills in the animation concepts generally.

Its just a pity we can't exactly lay hands on these books in our local bookstores. But I bet you could buy them online

Anybody got the soft-copies (.pdf)?
Art, Graphics & Video / Re: Criticise This Design by wham(m): 5:54pm On Jul 07, 2007
The Seal doesnt exactly look like one unit. Some parts are too glossy while others are plain. Some parts look more 3D and plastic while some are like simple coloured flat flash shapes.

there is something wrong in this light sha but it was good work.

Keep it up

Nairaland / General / Re: Travelling To Nigeria by wham(m): 8:35pm On Jul 04, 2007
Obudu Catle Ranch in Cross River State would be a lovely place to visit in Nigeria. The Cross River National Park is also within the same vincinity. Are u Nigerian (just needed to know your level of familiarity with the country)? Use a google search for their website. You might also want to get a genuine travel agency to do your booking at the ranch if it is not possible online (try booking online first).

Technology Market / Re: Inverters,is There A Good One by wham(m): 10:54pm On Jun 30, 2007
The durability of the inverter depends on the Make. Infact as I'm typing now we are running on a 5KVA Inverter we bought about four years ago. It was not in use for 2 of the years because the batteries had spoilt. But we got new batteries in March this year and its working again like new.

It was built in Kaduna by a Team of Engineers 08059376052, 08023345464. These days you find them being imported from Asian countries too (Check Wed Guardian).

I'll advise you buy Deep Cycle batteries (also known as sealed batteries) for your Inverter (almost twice more expensive as compared to Acid-Water Batteries). They are stress free, and would last longer.

When my Inverter has a good 4 hour charge it can last for about 16 hours when NEPA strikes. Of course this figures depend on your load capacity.

Get 200 or 150 Amp-Hours Hankuk batteries for your Inverter. Dont over load it. Switch off unnecessary appliances when its running to increase the batteries life-span.

Cheers!
Nairaland / General / Re: I Need Advice by wham(m): 10:27pm On Jun 30, 2007
My dear,
You have to summon courage 2 salvage the friendship if u really want to. Confront him. Tell him "Chinedu, I need to talk with you for a while". Say it in a very diplomatic tone. Ask him "what happened to us, our friendship? Is there something I said or did wrong? I'm ready to listen".

That would work on his ego and provoke him to talk.

Trust me, he will melt and start acting up except he aint worth it.

Cheers!

TV/Movies / Re: The Name Nollywood Is Trash by wham(m): 7:33pm On Jun 25, 2007
My sentiments about the name "nollywood" are exactly yours.

It's a shame that after we had to copy story lines from a lot of western movies, we still didnt have the ingenuity to name our own child.

I have a dream to produce a simple Nigerian movie with at least "story line" since the ones we have now dont even have one (storyline). My 4 year old nephew can almost predict the end from the beginning.

A good movie most not have all the cars, guns, dashing looking actors and the like. It could be simple, but with good scripts, directing, effects, camera work and make-up Director

This time around the Ultimate Search organisers have announced that the camp is going to be in jos, on Shere hills in the month of August.

That would be when the cold would be @ its peek in Jos and to worsen it, they are camping on a very high hill. Wow!

Hope nobody would die because of N5 million +
