You are becoming harsh this days...
Dey calm down now,
that’s just an innocent questions and he meant no harm.

Oh please!

Harsh indeed. Quote one harsh statement I've made.

All this entitlement mentality won't do anyone any good.

Nobody owes anyone anything on Nairaland. We post and give information out of the good of our heart to help others.

When you then decide not to do further research but come here to guilt trip or insist on people answering you, especially inform that one doesn't have or that can be gotten online then there's a problem. I CLEARLY said I HAVE NO IDEA to his question but uncle kept probing

You think it's easy?

Travel and open your thread and do half of what I've done, then we can talk

Thousands of people travel out on Nairaland. How many of them do you see opening threads? Some who have opened threads, it's the same criticism and entitlement mentality that discourages most.

I suggest that people really take time to weigh the scenario before jumping on the keyboard to reply

Well, shouldn't there be a range for us to see, like it varies from a number to a number.

Please have they started accepting applications for visa processing? We have wait tire

Well do I look like a Vietnamese immigration officer or the Vietnamese government?

Some of you here amaze me.

The time you used in making this comment, you would have searched google to get your answer. But no, you'd rather 'ask' Whyna who you sponsored to Vietnam

I made a mistake with the first point. Thanks for the correction. There's a preference or should I said privileges in which the Native speakers enjoys.

I didn't mean working with a Visit visa, I meant coming in with it then search for job where they're willing to sponsor your WP (I might be wrong tho).

I was talking about after COVID actually.

I'm here waiting for all your updates. Thanks to you all, we are able to get a glimpse of what VT feels like.

The only way you can apply for a visit visa as a nigerian is if you have a relation here. then you apply under their TRC.

Otherwise, you apply for a full working visa or 3 months business visa

Samuelmide69:
Another thing is that Base on research for teaching job Here they do list some countries which they can apply working visa for them and bring them.. Nigeria is not on the list

As a Nigerian and you know you want to enter here to teach, base on my own research you will have to enter here through schooling. As I did too, I think that's the best option for you based on my own research

After you are in, you got yourself a part time job. Later on From Part time to Full time job..

Which means you don arrive, if you want to go for your IELTS, TEFL examination before you enter Vietnam, I advise you can go for it too before you enter..

And to enjoy Vietnam to the full less, you gat learn this Language too and be respectful to the Vietnamese people, coz they love people that have respect and humble...

Joohan:

Congratulations on getting in, chief.
I want to counter some things you said. It's true Nigerians can't get in through working visa because we're not part of the NES countries. As well as 99.9 percent of African/South American/Asian countries. Going through school is where we want you to really talk on so that we can weigh our options.
When they start issuing visit visas, I know there'll be some ag£#ts that can find a loophole and get NNES in with a WP.
Congratulations once again and I pray the land favours you.

In as much as it's too early to comment on this because I really wanted to seat back and read from you Samuel, I NEED to correct a lot of things. Do not see this as an attack or anything but we need to be careful when posting information in public so as not to be unknowingly misleading

First, please how long have you been here?

What route did you go in through? In my almost 2 years of being here, I have always said it here that I don't know much about the schooling route BECAUSE I didn't come in through that route, I'm not schooling and so do not have 100% accurate information on study route.

@Bolded 1: That's not true. There is NO LIST. There is only preference. There are lots of schools and centres and to each his own. Of course schools prefer to bring in people from certain countries because it's wayyyyy cheaper and the white skin priviledge is still very much alive. Right now, they are all asking for people who are already in the country because things have changed

@Bolded 2: Again not true!. I know 3 nairalanders here who came in through work visa early this year. Two of whom i have become very close to. I can only mention them if they give me permission. They have their reasons for wanting to keep silent and I respect that whatever the reason(s) is. YOU CAN COME INTO VIETNAM ON A WORK VISA! Don't forget the person typing this did.

@Bolded 3: No, schooling route is not the best option. Work visa is the best option. When you come in through study visa, remember you have to pay for fees in addition to accomodation, feeding, quarantine, visa and all other thing and you only get to work part time. But when you come in on a work visa, you don't have the burden of paying fees. You just deal with the visa and quarantine and feeding and stuff and you can work till you drop. Once here, if you decide in the long run, you want to study, that's fine. by then you know you can even pay your fees outrightly from money saved and can retain most of your jobs.

PS: incase I never said this here, I'll say it now, come here, SAVE YOUR MONEY AND MOVE TO A BETTER COUNTRY TO STUDY if that's your dream. This is solely my opinion and a better country in my opinion would mean a country where in the long run, you can get citizenship. I'll talk more about this much much later

@Bolded 4: Not entirely true. So first, it depends on your location but even at that, you don't need to know the language to enjoy the country. For a first timer, it can be strange using google translate everytime but you'll get a hang of it. But more and more vietnamese are able to manage little conversation in English now. Also, depending on your area, you can go a whole month without having to worry about translation because you are surrounded by foreigners. Learning the language is a plus only for communication and yes everyone admires people from a different country or even tribe who is able to speak their dialect

@Joohan

@Bolded 1, that's not true. I think I've addresed this above

@Bolded 2: You can NEVER get a work permit with a visit visa. This is the reason the government sent hundreds of thousands of whites away because they came on visit visa and started working. They didn't have WP but they renewed the visa monthly and worked. People employed them because of that white skin complex but you as an African can't even try it

In summary, Samuel, it would be nice if you just shared your experience coming here via the study route, schools you applied to, what the application process is like, student visa application and experience so far.

Peace.

What province are you in? We fit jam one day

Bro, you should have ignored them.
These ones believe in paying higher price for everything until they will pay and later realized they have been scammed or could get it cheaper.
If you say $95 is too cheap then go for the one that pleases you, could even be $1000 nah your money.

Joohan:

Make research and you get an authentic one for far lesser price.

Joohan and BunmiBie are right.

Finally! I am done reading the 72 pages. I jotted, screenshot , shared info with my husband and then swung to action.

Whyna! You are an angel, not sugarcoating words. Your humility, and patience WOW me. God bless you and yours for what you are doing here.

So, my efforts in the past few days is yeilding results already. Yes! I don't have the complete money for visa yet, and I have not gotten someone to sponsor me but I have:
-Gotten passport for my family, thanks to my husband.
-Started my TEFL courses
-Preparing for C1
-Trying the sponsorship, and school route. Anyone that works is fine. My aim is to move with my family.
Enter Vietnam with work permit, work and enrol in school (scholarship). It's a win win thing. Or just enter straight with student visa if admission clicks and then work part-time.
With God on our side, nothing is impossible.

I am also looking into teaching English in other Asian countries.
I have been applying online but no response yet.
In a nutshell, this year ending or next year, God willing I will come back here to share our success story.

Please, those that are studying in Vietnam should come to my aid. The schools are not replying mails and not picking calls, what do I do?

Hahnemann:
I read this thread for three days and three night from page one till the end. Whyna, I really commend what you have done and honestly I don't know if I can have the typing strength to do dsame if I were you. All my mind and dreams right now is to migrate to Vietnam, I'm a medical laboratory scientist currently earning 50k monthly despite all d hardwork and stress. Now henceforth, I'm doubling my hustle and probably by Jan 2023, I will meet you face to face in Vietnam.

Hopefully too, things will be completely back to normal over there and cost of visa and flight will have come down, and the idea of 14days quarantine would have been canceled.

Thank you @Whyna and pls keep updating this thread. I love you like a sis. STAY SAFE

Amen. Glad the info helped in one way or the other

I am not in Vietnam, but I got information that their schools are closed as a result of the Covid, also it's difficult for schools to admit and apply visa for international students. It also affected teaching employment that is if you are not residing in Vietnam currently

True.

The lockdown has been lifted though and things are opening up. Schools remain closed in some provinces while some other provinces have resumed.

As for International students, note that when you get admission here, you sort out your visa yourself. Schools don't help with that

Hi, i heard Vietnam is opening up for tourists next month but only to phu Quoc island.
How true is that? And does it mean people might be able to come in soon to other cities?

Things are gradually opening up again. Some provinces are resuming school today.

Phuc Quoc is strictly for tourists and vaccine passport holders and duration of stay is one month I think.

This is a bid to strengthen the economy and quickly recover in the tourism industry

But keep at it!

One advice, save in dollars!

Because in January, people wey their money been remain 100k to complete to jappa, now, even the one wey them save done devalue and the 100k no go do again.

In other news, make I rant small......this lockdown is really spoiling my plans!!!!! We're in the 5th month and as at yesterday, we're recording 15k cases daily with no end in sight.

If we've been at home, shouldn't the numbers be decreasing instead of increasing?

Anyways, God dey

How are you ma'am?
Hows the extended break in the lockdown?
I thought you could come in one of two ways; help me get a better bargain off the contact number on the website or since the product(s) (firefly phototherapy machine and CPAP machines) is in Hanoi.....there could be other medical companies offering similar design for a cheaper price.
Or shey you know all these things are sometimes "sold cheaper locally and sold for a fortune on exporting".

Or.....
Aswearugwad I am having a splitting migraine headache, i no fit even think wellwell.....but I just need some of that stuff in Nigeria cry cry

Fun fact:

If you teach for only 4 hours a week, in a month, you'd get money for your rent and food for that month!

I got to the last page! Thank you Whyna, I am more than interested in starting this journey and thank you so much for all information you dropped here. You have a kind heart and I know God will reward you with a beautiful life ( even if you already have one, lol) . God bless you for your patience in responding and for all the pictures and the food pictures, grin, I enjoyed those the most.
We must make this move and more money.

Warm regards

Amen Amen and Amen.

E remain one thing for the beautiful life to be perfect so I appreciate your blessings.

It is my wish that every youth in Nigeria struggling should find greener pastures for the sake of their mental health.

If you find this greener pastures outside, please pursue it.

We would come back to build Nigeria. We already are when we make money here and send back home to help someone start a business or erect a structure and create employment by so doing and many other ways.

Don't let anyone deceive you by saying stay and build Nigeria. A struggling person cannot build himself let alone Nigeria. Let those who are deeply rooted financial and WANT to stay back join hands and help Nigeria.

Until then, we'll go, make money and if it pleases the Lord, come back....or not.

I know I don't update frequently again but I see y'all viewing and reading and commenting. I've been there, took me 6 years of galavanting Nairaland to achieve the dream.

In summary, keep keeping at it. DON'T GIVE UP. No time is too late because in the end, it's totally worth it.
