transbut5: Generally, figures should be supplied in one of the preferred file formats: EPS, PS, JPEG, TIFF which is usual for major journals. However, If you export your images as GIFs, PNG, or JPEG files; the layout of some journals will not fit well and your images will look distorted or grainy after they enlarge them. Because JPEG, GIF, and PNG formats are all bitmaps, or raster images, which rely on mosaic-like pixel counts instead of the paths and mathematical calculations of vectors. What is the solution? The solution is to export your graph in an editable or vector format. Generally, printers or illustrators will prefer vector graphics because they consist of coordinates with lines/curves between them, the size of representation does not depend on the dimensions of the object. For example, one can print a vector logo or image on a small sheet of copy paper, and then enlarge the same vector logo to billboard size and keep the same crisp quality. My question is; how can I make the graphs editable? The common vector export formats are: AI: This one is an adobe illustrator format which contains all the information from your image, allowing you to edit and re-edit your document over and over without data loss. SVG: This is called scalable vector graphics which is very popular for web design, due to their high quality, excellent scalability, and low file size. EPS: This one is referred to as encapsulated postscript and it contains vector information and thumbnail images for quick viewing. Now all these vector formats can be edited from adobe illustrator, photoshop, Powerpoint, etc. For instance, if you send me a vector image, I can open it either via PowerPoint to edit it or via adobe illustrator. Another way is to plot your data in excel and then just copy it directly into Microsoft Word (DOC or DOCX) files which are acceptable for figures. Don't save as an image but just direct copy from excel, the Microsoft word has an embedded plug that allows image directly copied into it from excel to be edited as shown below. How can I export the graphs directly from matlab to excel... This is quite easy if you know how to use Matlab. You can use the "MLGetFigure" function to import the current MATLAB figure into the Microsoft Excel worksheet or you can use VBA macro (that's visual basic) and for this, you have to use the excel developer mode. Visit this link for this: https://www.mathworks.com/help/exlink/mlgetfigure.html I hope this helps. Best wishes 8 Likes 2 Shares

Recently Published from our Lab: Application of UV-activated photocatalyst to treat pharmaceutical wastewaters Summary: For decades, antibiotics have been used both in human and animal medicine to prevent and treat bacterial infections and have saved millions of lives from multiple infectious disease. Since most of these antibiotics are recalcitrant, they have been detected in vegetables, drinking water, groundwater and various aqueous environment which is dangerous as they often results in Super robot bacteria strains that shows antimicrobial resistance. Approach: we developed biochar from palm seeds and blend it with calcined layered double oxides to produce photocatalyst that can be effectively activated under sunlight and UV light sources. The developed material was able to remove 98% of antibiotics within 240 min of simulated pharmaceutical wastewater and 360 min for actual real pharmaceutical wastewater. Researcher: A Female PhD candidate from Libya that focused on designing effective methods of treating antibiotics and emerging pollutants wastewater; her Ph.D. is funded partly by Libyan government, partly and salary by pharmacy faculty of our university. Supervised by Wip7. The Ph.D. candidate have developed 8 various photocatalysts for treatment of 15 various pharmaceuticals in different water sources. 5 research results have recently been published while others under review. Publication: This result is published in Q2 Journal with impact factor of 3.3, Citescore of 5.2 and indexed in all well known databases. This is a free journal. Our University research unit and goverment research unit will reward us with a total of 1700$ for publishing this work as incentive. 8 Likes 3 Shares

DanIduh06: If you have the oppurtunity to go to this lab, I strongly believe it worth it. The mentioned professor is doing great job and I understand most African have easy pass to south African labs for research stay with less visa hurdles. Also, having direct practical in the lab will be far better than virtual. The food industry is my target. As an individual, it will be expensive for you to subscribe to all Springer, Taylor and Elsevier journals. All universities in Nigeria (I don't know for sure), I belive have subscriptions to these journals. For our end, all universities have subscriptions to all the major journals and when you are using the university internet network you can access all the subscribed journals directly. Also, we have remote access, like I spend time abroad and I can still access my university network configured to on my machines. So ask your university for a remote access VPN configuration. One is less busy due to ASUU strike. Best wishes! 2 Likes 2 Shares |

yeankux: If you are very interested in Biotech, since they are not going to run it in January which likely due to number of admitted students not enough to open the program: First option You can select to join in May 2021 since the program will be opened by that time. Second option Also, I believe that you applied for the Biotech normal fast-track option! You can ask them to shift you to their Biotechnology - Advanced (Fast Track) option which seems to still be available for Jan 2021 pending the waitlist. Third option You may decide to take their Food Science Tech (its opened for Jan 2021) which has some similar courses with the biotech in the first semester, so after first semester you can switch back to your Biotech during Summer and get exemption of the related courses from FST. DanIduh06: We have the electrochemical station in my lab, to be good, one may need to have access to the device, how to use it, interpret the results and many other things. If you want to get attached to a university in Nigeria and your supervisor there approves you to work on this, we can make video training on the research and you can see when we are ready. But it will make a lot of sense if you are developing the biosensor yourself and testing it in your local environment. For example; if you design a sensor for the detection of illicit drugs, and want to promote its robustness to law enforcement company/agency, you need the portable handheld device with you to demonstrate it.......without that you can do anything. If you will work on sensors for detection of pesticides in agricultural fields, you need the device on the field. Its tiny and can fit into your phone. First spend time come up with the specific ones that interest you, then you will do comprehensive literature review and from there one can know more what you need to enhance and then the main research can be fabricated. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Rhymeyjohn: Did I get you admission? I cant remember, each semester I receive nearly 200 applications for admission, some are qualified, some not and some have funds and some not.
Each semester we offer FULL scholarship (Just Tuition, while accommodation and registration will be borne by the recipient). We majorly look at your undergraduate CGPA and during meetings we look if your research aligns with us then we can offer you a full scholarship. You can apply to our department if your background fits our department please send me a comprehensive CV that includes your CGPAs and research experience. From your work on Industrial wastewater that is my strong field, so definitely I can work with you. If it fits I will advise you to apply to us for next semester. Before next semester, I shall share with your some tips to assist you if you are ready to work. If you get in and you can be dedicated and get atleast 4 publications per year, the publication money you will receive be enough for your accommodation for full-year and other related benefits. I will show you how you get all these done by the university and Turkish goverment. For my team; 2020 projection we had in January was 35 papers and that will fetch us 65,000$....we have achieved 65% and we have submitted more work which are under reviews.....we are confident to get this done by December 2020. Send me your detailed CV, transcript, and leave your mobile there. Am working on our official website so potential researchers can see available opportunities to join us. 1 Like |

My team and department just approved full 100% for two Nigerians (lady and guy) and they will join my team for this semester. At EMU, we currently don’t have master or Phd degree programs in Biomedical engineering we only have it at undergrad level. I think some universities have it in TRNC. If you find yourself in TRNC for that program in another university you can always make use of my lab and also join us. The two guys offered full 100% scholarship will work on rapid detection of prostate cancer from urine using the sensors we would develop. Each semester, we do offer FULL scholarship for students with good results in our department there are few things we consider and majorly will be research based. Here is currently what EMU pays you irrespective as a student and for conferences student can get one time support. For each of this, Turkish goverment also pays you alongside provided the address of your publication follows the Turkish location. All these must be reputable to benefit! Best wishes! 1 Like

DanIduh06: Biotech field is great and will be nice for Africa as few start-ups in this region. Currently, biosensor is a great research field and with your background it can fit well. Just will need some electrochemistry exeperience to move up. Biosensors have applications in the following fields which are often designated into clinicals and non-clinicals: ----Agriculture ---Health and Pharms ---Environmental ---Food industries ---Military So you need to select which field of interest you wish to work on. If you are located in Nigeria; any of the first 4 listed above will suit you. Then as a researcher you have do background check which is major issues there. I understand that there are Malaria in Nigeria which is common? How much do they test for malaria at Hospital? Can you design faster and cheaper sensor to detect malaria without the need for highly professional person? I understand that many food industries are coming up in Nigeria, can you design fast and cheaper sensors for food poisons or mycotoxins? Do you want to work with the military or Drug-enforcement agency to develop rapid sensing of illicit drugs? Most biosensors we have developed in my lab cost 1-3 dollars and results is ready in less than 1 min. Particular we developed sensor for detection of aflatoxin B1 in a small company trying to sell dried package fruits. Since they are buying in large quantities, it cost them 2$ per one non-reusable sensor. Which is like 75% cheaper than the common alternatives. To set up a micro-lab for biosensor, the main machine needed is the reader which is electrochemical stations, few common lab apparatus. It cost me 2000 euro to setup a mini lab for that; most of our projects are targeted in all the listed fields and we have done 5 commercials so far in that field. So think if which you want to do? I believe some of Nigerian universities should have the electrochemical station. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Phawizz: In fact essence of this thread is to prevent all those sugar-coated agents from deceiving genuine students. That's why I often ensure that agents don't just post and lie here on this particular thread. I have studied abroad, I have sponsored my young ones abroad and I know how difficult it is to fall victims. I also concluded that the majority of those agents duped; seems not properly educated, highly unexposed, greedy, and over expectant. These days the internet is so big and accessible for any person to validate many lies of the agents. In 2010, an agent in Kano state (older woman around 50 years duped illiterate father that want to sponsor his sons to Cyprus. The man owns a cattle ranch in Kano and decided to send his two boys to study Engineering at EMU, then I was working at the EMU international office. This woman collected nearly 4 years school fees and accommodation for each child from the man around 16 million per child and she only paid around 1.5 million naira to EMU. The father cannot use internet and the sons were somehow local then but intelligent. I was teaching them at first year and it was after 2nd year when EMU demanded another fees the older son narrated how much his dad paid, thanks to EMU, we coordinated with Nigerian embassy in Turkey to retrive all the money to the man. This was possible because the sons are smart and educated while the father was just listening to the woman and giving out money anyhow. These boys graduated from EMU and doing super great now. This is relevant to all countries! I met someone in Canada recently; first the passport he has with him has reduced age by 10 years downward, his name is totally switched to another person name. He told me he had lived in USA for years and now in Canada.....with all these endless journey he barely can afford many things. No meaningful achievement except his polished English. In fact, many people misunderstand what abroad is....they often mistaken it to be biblical or Quranic Heaven. 2 Likes |

You think am one of those that just sit in the UK or any country waiting for 5 jobs salaries or government benefits? Wip7 is academic professor with salary that worth far than what average people in your end earns. Attached is average salary of academics in North Cyprus in reputable universities like EMU, METU, EUL etc, this is after tax and note we earn 13 months salary yearly not 12 months and we also get paid around 3000$ dollar (university +Turkey) per research publication we make...google Wip7 profile for 2020 and see how many publications and do the maths... Feyang: Have you been to Burundi, Gambia, Uganda before ? I personally I have been there on many occasions! There are thousands of Nigerian studying in these countries.... In North Cyprus there are thousands of citizens of Burundi, Uganda and Gambian studying. So why do Nigerian go to those places? You asked Nigerians to go study in Europe rather than Cyprus; they are not blind before and many of them know that there are over 40 countries in Europe so why they don’t go there ? I personally don’t believe agents can point a gun to anybody head to go study anywhere; any educated person should be able to read, explore, ask questions and must be able to pay for their tuition fees wherever they go! How many of the people can afford to pay for tuition fees in Switzerland or the UK? Or which Europe are you talking? Serbia, Romania, Ireland, Denmark? Can you afford a master degree of 15,000 Euro in Denmark ? Even master that worth 2500$ in Cyprus how many can afford it? For those that can pay the fees...How many of them have been issued visas? In North Cyprus; police or SARS DONT kill people indiscriminately; there are electricity everywhere and internet facilities all over the country which is fairly affordable for average students; universities in north Cyprus don’t go on strikes and majority of the universities are well ranked far better than what you see in many African countries....they don’t have ritualists that kill anyhow. Lecturers don’t want to sleep with ladies to give marks. They have students from more than 60 countries studying there and population of African students are less than 15%. Advise your government to make your education better, to provide 24/7 electricity, facilities in the university, to avoid strikes in universities and improve your educational system entirely ....that way the citizens of your country will not need to go Abroad to study... There are well meaning Nigerians and Africans studying in North Cyprus and doing greater things. Not all people that travels abroad to study are going there because they come from gutter ..many are going for actual education Before you make any sound claims and advise people...you should have well rounded traveling experience, actual education and financially okay. If you don’t want people to go to any particular country; you should provide them visa, tuition fee to your country of your choice. You can also, make paid advertisements on various newspapers, radio and tv channels, and visit the ministry of education and all international airports to intensify your campaign. This thread is to give advice, support and answers questions of people that are financially ready to study abroad, people interested in education...is not for people that come from gutter, not for fraudsters, not for people that can’t even afford 100k monthly in their countries and wanting to become overnight billionaires abroad, not for drug dealers, not for those claiming to go abroad for study but don’t even know if Nigeria is in Africa..... If you can afford to pay UK fees and get visa bye bye nobody forces you to North Cyprus or put gun or arrow on your chest! Enough of this craps! 6 Likes 1 Share |

You don’t need to pay any agent to apply for a visa; the Turkish embassy that handles TRNC visa have website and state all the visa requirements including procedures to apply so why paying agents to do that ? Get all the required documents and follow the stated procedures then apply; if the visa officer finds you genuine... he or she will issue you a visa otherwise you get denied. LuckBrother: The major cities are Famagusta, Girne, Lefkosia and Güzelyurt. So the price will depend on: ----The location where the university is located ----Years of the house/apartment (the older the cheaper) ----Distance of the accommodation from the university or city center (the further away the cheaper; most of the universities have Free bus to collect students within the city they are located) --- Type of accommodation (2 and 3 beds flats will be cheaper when shared) Most of the flats come furnished with necessary home kits; average 2 bed ensuite in Famagusta is around 2000$ per year which can then be shared by two people making 1000$ a year, this excludes utilities. Just visit this website; type the city the school is located and select type of accommodation (1+1 means 1 bedroom with a sitting room, 2+1 means 2 bed rooms with a sitting/playing room): https://www.101evler.com/en Attached is just 5 min walk to EMU; I bought 2 flats here for rent for graduate student it goes 4000$ per 10 months in case you are interested. 2 Likes

I once a met student at airport with the immigration; look older but his passport says he is 23 years old, they asked him what he wants to study he had to check his admission letter to tell them; where is your university located ?
