Many thanks Prof for your selfless service and prompt responds to questions. And very special thanks to all the gurus. I did Master's in Energy and Petroleum Economics (Non Thesis based); with a project on An analysis of the demand and supply of petroleum products and their impacts on Nigeria Economy.
I am interested in Phd abroad - Candan, USA or UK. I have difficulty with appealing project topic. I am counting on your experience to help me on this Prof. It could be within the area of Public policy, Resources Management, Environmental management, Oil and Gas Management, Economics of the Environment and Economic Development.

You have a nice educational sphere...well done! Kindly visit scienceDirect.com and just type a few keywords related to your research interest. You will definitely see a number of research published in that area, then read. Understand and get to see any area of improvement and start your research. Every reasonable research is directed to solve challenges, so look for issues, loopholes and unsolved or threatening issues...this will assist you to formulate your project topic.

Good day great scholars on here.

Dear great Professor Wip7, I seriously find it hard to believe that you are a Nigerian. The way you selflessly give out advices and ideas, coupled with your vast pool knowledge and great achievements, one will absolutely mistake you for a White man. We really appreciate your efforts. God bless more abundantly, Amen.

Sir, please I'll need your guidance. I'm a graduate of Petroleum Engineering from a federal university with a 4.19 CGPA of 5.0. I'm currently serving in Lagos (NYSC); I will be passing out by August of this year. I have the intention of applying for fully funded Master's scholarships abroad. Someone advised me to write and publish articles on journals to increase my chances of getting any scholarships. With these, sir, I have some questions as follows:

(1) How else do I increase my chances of getting any scholarships abroad?

Due to increasing competition and the growing number of applicants, the majority of funders tend to streamline the evaluation of criteria to search for not just the highest CGPA but also some experience and skills that will set the applicant different. Master and PhD are designed to be a research-oriented program, hence, having a research publication can be worthy. You have a good result, start searching for opportunity now before you complete your NYSC. Try to register with researchgate (they often post job/scholarship opportunities), search Nordic countries that have oil like Norway universities they usually have a scholarship in oil-related fields. If you have opportunities for research do it. Meanwhile, try many universities in Canada also, they have a master program in Petroleum and also offer scholarships.

(2) If publishing articles does that, how can I get topics and search for resources for assistance?

Visit ScienceDirect.com or googlescholar type keywords for research in your related, skim through many of them and see what interests you, then you will need a lab to carry out your research. if you have access to a lab in Nigeria, I can give you a direct topic you can work on if I know your undergraduate thesis/project.

(3) I have computer programming skills. Is there anyway I can marry it with my studied course.

Be specific about your programming skills. Myself, I have in-depth knowledge python, C#, Java, JS-HTML/CS, machine learning and various JS libraries. Mine is very practical and I have used it lots in my project work and also commercial. So be specific so I can advise further.

(4) Is there any online programmes you can recommend to me that align with my interest?

Until I know your interest.

I'm really sorry about the lengthy write-up. Anticipating your response.

Please advice from everyone is welcome.

Waiting for a response and best wishes!

Happy Sunday scholars!
Please who knows any better biocarriers that can be used in Anaerobic trickle bed reactors? I mean surface area where biofilms can attach to with a surface area let say 900sqm/cubic meter.

The following can serve as a good biocarriers and some of them, their efficiency and performance have been established industrially:

1. Zeolite powder-based sponges like polyurethane

2. Zeolite-based biochar

3. Modified guar gum polyurethane.

Advantage of the above:

1. Advantage of polyurethane is that it has advanced simultaneous nitrification and denitrification properties due to the highly dissolved oxygen gradient in the cubic biofilm.

2. It has high mechanical strength, large specific surface area, rough surface and good adhesion to microorganisms

3. Zeolite also has large porosity and a large specific surface area, as a biofilm carrier it exhibits good adsorption performance.

So a combination of both will be highly recommended.

Research on biofuel from insects wastes: FUNDED

My lab has just received EU funding of around 200,000 euros for research on biofuel production from insects wastes.

I am the leading professor in the project and soon we shall be providing links to take PhD students (in related field) that will be funded to work in my lab.

Experiments show that insect waste can produce methane in similar quantities to manure and sewage, making it a viable source of renewable biofuel.

Meanwhile Prof Wip, how much do you think I can get for a publication in a decent Mathematics Journal- Ramanujan Journal- and how does submission to Tubitak work?
I hope you remember me though. I asked for your counsel on Turkish visa processing after admission into METU, Ankara back in 2015. I have changed my keyboard mode to English since then, though. grin. We are proud of your work in academia.

Welldone welcome to the club of those they get paid when they publish quality research paper in quality journal.

For this paper you will be paid 3175TL (its a good money) see attached.

My targets in 2020 is 300,000$ to be paid meaning I have to publish 45 papers now I published 7 in 2020 already. Also, two of my products have recently received commercial status and I will start production for the company that contracted me from March.

House please I need your opinion on this.
I got admission into neu and today was my appointment which I went for. My documents are complete and all. The issue I had was the Igbo lady that interviewed me. She kept on asking me names of my hod and lecturers in my uni which happens to be university of Abuja. And I’m not d type of person that keeps name or care to know their names. I didn’t come to school to study their names. I did submit my passport tho after everything. My question now is what are the chances of me getting the visa. I’ve paid school fees and all and school sent my name to the embassy. I’m worried pls. Help me out. I think it was a personal issue for her or something

Wait for your visa, it is only the embassy that make decisions on visa application; opinion or answers from random people here does not matter in visa decisions. Also, paying tuition does not gurantee a visa.

Lastly, no matter how busy you are, you need to know some names of your lecturers that may show element of being a student. These days we have dubious agents or even students parading fake university certificates and sometimes to establish that you studied there some information may be needed which will then be verified later.

Best wishes

@Wip7....please I need to get this information directly from you as am not getting something detailed from the site. Please what are all the necessary and required documents for Turkish visa? And what's an OKTB?

All detailed documents needed for visa is stated on the Turkish embassy website. Just click the pre-visa form, fill it and you will see the documents required.

Attached is what are needed, take note the visa fee is changing so you need to get the exact visa visa on the website.

OKTB is like visa on arrival, I process this for students that already paid tuition fee and ready to buy two way ticket.

Hello house
I just got admission into emu. Did I need to apply for visa or can I buy ticket and pay for visa on arrival. Please put me through

You can do the one that pleases you and also satisfies your pocket.

You must pay your tuition fee first before you arrive CYPRUS very important.

You can apply for visa at the embassy: meaning you will go to embassy in Abuja, submit all the required documents and if you are found suitable will be issued visa and you can come by atleast one-way ticket. This option is relatively cheaper becos you can come with one-way ticket provided you are issued a visa. It may be lengthy process but you may wish to experience the joy of visiting embassy.

You may get visa on arrival: this is comparably slightly expensive because you must come with two-way ticket. But you don’t need to worry about embassy. It’s usually processed within 1-5 days. This also may change at anytime based on the immigration rules/comes with varying regulations. For now it’s easiest way if you can afford it.

Choose which favors you.

Best wishes on your trip!

I have attached the kind of material that I am looking for as I have tried using this but can't go above 80 degrees C. I will sincerely appreciate some sort of guide.

what’s the name of the current material you are using and what’s the exact application for the material you are looking for?

For the OKTB and the Flight, i will surely contact you because i know nothing about the OKTB and this is the first time i'm hearing something like this.
If i may ask you sir, is it that i will apply for OKTB or i will just buy flight ticket then fly to Cyprus and get the OKTB at the port of entry?
If the question i asked above is correct, what do i tell the Nigeria Immigration at the point of departure?

Lastly... apart from the listed below, what kind of document should i prepare myself with when coming so that i will not have any issue at the port of entry?.

O'Level Result/Certificate
University Transcript
Yellow Card
BTA

Please i will appreciate any other info i need on this.

When you are ready, email me for OKTB. Don't worry about immigration in Nigeria or Cyprus, I have dedicated immigration officials and i deal directly with the concerned airline.

Yes, originals of those listed documents are needed.

Are these money paid in dollar or euro... i heard they use euro and pounds mostly there. Bro i need to do all my calculation well before i call my Aunt.. Because Dollar and Euro or Pounds has big difference when paying bills. I need to be sure of any amount i'm telling her... grin grin grin

GAU fees are in Euro. GAU is located in Kyrenia where house rents are generally charged in British pounds but other living expenses is in local currency (Turkish lira). As an estimate, do the calculation of 150-200USD for a room per month inclusive of utility bills. If you are not a Tiger or Buffalo, I believe you can eat just 100$ a month also.

how i can help you, but not more than 3,500 euro or rather 4,000 dollar. So i just thank her and told her i will get back to her before the end of this week, then i started doing research on one of those country with a low tuition fee.

Please Wip7 and all the enlightened gurus in the house, i need your advise on this ohh or you guys should put your self in my shoes and make me understand what step you will take.

Thanks...

If she is ready to sponsor your education and accommodation for period of your studies then that will be great.

If you pay earlier to the university you can apply for a visa and travel by one way flight.

If you get a visa with one-way flight should not cost you more than 300-400k if you fly by emirate or Qatar airline depending on time of flight.

Best wishes

Please i want to know... How much will the OTB cost and do anyone have idea of any cheap flight...
Apart from the 1000 euro for the school fees, how much do i need to have in my position that will land me in North Cyprus ?

Flight price is not fixed so this depends on the date you are traveling. OKTB and flight for a student traveling in February cost around 550-600k.

Apart from initial tuition payment (1000 euro), you need to have extra money for registration (your university should tell you usually low or deducted from your initial payment). You need to have money for medical test and resident permit (should cost you around 100-150 $), you need to have money for accommodation which will cost 1500-2000$ (per academic year (10 months) depending on the location of your university, you need to have atleast 100-150$ monthly for buying food and other things.

After paying fees and want to do OKTB +flight, contact me.

Best wishes!

Compliments of the day to you all. Special thanks to Prof Wip7 for what he's doing here. Your selfless contributions are priceless and they deeply appreciated,Sir!

I am in need of 3D resistivity interpretation software, RES3DINV, to analyse my data, but I've not been able to get it up till now. The free version that is available online has limited capability in terms of the number of data points it can process. I wrote to the software manufacturers to help out, but they replied that if the free version can't handle what I want to do, then I should ask my University to come buy the licence as it's obvious I can't afford it as a student. And so that's where I am and my work is suffering delays as a result.
Wouldn't know if anyone here has helpful suggestions on how I can get the software.
Thanks all!

Thank you...

This software is expensive for students. Someone suggested contacting OAU Geology department. If not, can you find alternative software that can do the same?

Best wishes!

Recent changes with North Cyprus IMMIGRATION POLICY

1. We have been instructed by the TRNC Ministry of Foreign Affairs that due to the recent changes in the immigration policies of the country, University is required to inform the Ercan Airport about the arrival of the new students prior to their arrivals. Therefore, please make sure you share your Flight Details 5-10 (ten) days prior to your departure with your university.

2. Ensure you have your original documents (WEAC or NECO (undergraduate) or University certificate and transcript (graduates)) with you as Immigration Officer will check at airport. Some students have been deported for not having original documents.

Latest 2020 Scientific Publication (2nd publication in 2020)

Summary: Discarded chewing gum was utilized as raw material for decontamination of toxic phenolic compounds commonly used in the herbicide industry, and as a fungicide in a paper and pesticides industries. The research focussed on using waste chewing gum. Until now, no studies reported the application of discarded chewing gum for detoxification of wastewater. Chewing gum is composed of a non-digestible polymer and the discarded chewing gum is a notorious environmental waste which is difficult to deal with. In fact, waste chewing gum is a major and increasingly growing social and environmental issue due to its high stickiness and longer years to biodegrade.

Results: The performance of the catalyst-based chewing gum for decontaminating toxic wastewater is high and comparable to other expensive catalysts. Results obtained in this research has just been published in the Chemical Engineering Communications Journal.
