Please I have attestated result
Bank Statement
Sponsorship letter signed by notary public
Bank reference letter
Health insurance 1month
Yellow card
Police report
Medical record/certificate of fitness by Edo State hospital but I was told I have to take the certificate to ministry of health and I don’t know if it’s compulsory please I need answer’s and what other documents do I need again ?

If your destination is North Cyprus, you don't need Medical record cert from your country neither do the embassy of Turkey need it. The North Cyprus immigration doesn't trust your medical record from your country and also to make money for the country, you will need to undertake the medical tests again upon arrival. In summary, you don't need it from Nigeria.

Ensure you don't have HIV, Hepatitis B and C, those ones are the automatic ticket to immediate deportation.

Also, you will need to submit your official university acceptance letter, payment slip for tuition fees and your academic results authenticated by concerned ministries, flight reservation, national ID card. If you have not purchased the travelling insurance, just buy 5 days insurance from Zenith bank is around 6000 Naira that is enough.

Majority of the University resumes classes by End of Sept, hence you have time to gather your documents. The major documents is the bank ref and bank statement, others can be obtained within 3days.

Best wishes!

I'm grateful sir for the time you have taken for enlightenment.
Im not used to DOE to some extent, but with my intention and the information you have given i would like to consider CCB {Central composite design}, I look forward to it.

I used to Unifactorial Method which is manual, where one factor is varied keeping others constant.

I will be using cultured strains sir. Glad to know that Candida tropicalis F0-5 exhibites rapid catalytic activity.

"Overliming" I refer to the use of Ca(HO)2 for the detoxification. Thanks

Oh I thought as much that you may be using Calcium hydroxide. Its good!

The manual DOE is time-consuming and you may also waste some of your precursors. The CCD is nice as you can fit as much as 8 independent factors and have even up to 5 responses. Also, the flexibility of the software matters.

If you are not good with MATLAB, I will suggest you use either Quantum XL or SigmaXL. The Quantum XL allows you to define independent parameters that are not numerical but qualitative in nature and quite easy to extract the results with an explanation.

Best wishes and if you need further help dont hesitate to post here.

Thank you for the observation sir,
I intend to use overlime for detoxification, microorganisms {S. Cerevisiae} for fermentation and a unifactorial approach for optimization.

That is nice but I have some concerns.

What is overlime? I have not heard that before.

Will you be isolating the S. Cerevisiae yourself or you will be using cultured strains? If you will be isolating, it will be from which fruits? Also, which nucleotides? In one of my researches, I had isolated 3 different S. cerevisiae nucleotides, however, we found that Candida tropicalis F0-5 exhibited rapid catalytic activity compared to the commonly used C8-5 .

Also, you said unifactorial. I have used so many DOE but I have not heard unifactorial before. Or do you mean factorial designs such as fractional, simple or full factoria? if is factorial design, then why?

Factorial Designs (FD)
Factorial designs are very good, however, have some disadvantages. If you have more than two factors it is impossible to study the curvature effects w.r.t to factorial design........you have to consider quadratic or higher order regression models. Also, in FD no degrees of freedom are available to estimate the error sum of squares and hence, the obtained model coefficients cannot be statistically tested for significance. Hence, to obtain deeper insights into the effect of each independent factor on the response, it is necessary to use a DOE with complex nomenclature design (Central composite designs, dohelert, box-benhken etc). Unless you just looking at the main effect and significance of each factor.

Quite impressive and you can go for your PhD, we need more women holding an academic doctorate and conducting research. You have also asked very good questions regarding articles, citations and Publications.

In international contest: PhD is designed for research to find solutions to global and national issues, to advance known facts, to challenge known theories or develop new things based on extensive and significant original research in any chosen field.

Articles publication in Reputable journals/books:
In many developed Western and Asian Countries, quality and reputable publications are required to graduate from a PhD program. For instance, it is a Must in Universities in Cyprus, America, Sweden, Finland and many other European countries and now China is making it a must. I believe is also compulsory for some universities in Africa as well. So for instance, in Cyprus, to graduate a PhD the student must publish a minimum of one SCI/SSCI (Science citation index or social science citation index) articles as a graduation requirement. So imagine, if the university graduate 100 PhD per year means they will have 100 reputable articles under the university name, hence, increases their ranking and reputation.

To get jobs in many western countries, the name of your university or country you graduate from contribute not as much as your numbers of reputable publications, citations and quality and contents of your publication. In the majority of the advertisement for a job, it is often stated that candidates should have a demonstrated track record of technical, academic (excellence, or promise of excellence, in teaching and scholarly research)....So you can only proof scholarly research through publications, citations, projects and supervision. See the attached job offer from Namibia University, the box section indicates that the need at least 20 publications before they can consider the application for evaluation.

Citations:
The reason for citations is to credit the author and publisher for their original work and to enable your readers to consult the same sources. However, in the modern 'publish or perish’ academic environment, citations have become a form of currency traded between researchers; as a proxy of research quality or impact, citation counts and related metrics are increasingly used in funding, promotion and tenure reviews and in national research assessment exercises.

Grants: I have mentioned in the previous pages on the same thread, how grants can be accessed and what the funding agency look for to provide a grant. You may search for that. In brief, there is a bunch of advertised sponsored PhD program abroad, however, applicants will need to meet their requirements and compete with thousands of other applicants. Hence, your CV should be highly competitive with unique and emerging skill-sets, scholarly activities. Locally, I don't know about much of the grants in your local context.

Please consider checking researchgate, Nature, Mendeley websites etc for PhD grants and advertised sponsored positions. If you have any concerns regarding your PhD research and support, please dont hesitate to come to this thread to gain and share with others.

Best wishes!

Mr wip, any master prog @"CSU Or any universities with cheaper fees withing d range of csu fees" for someone that did his first degree in engineering in Nigeria.

CSU master program is 2175usd and that is the cheapest in Cyprus or Turkey.

The accommodation of CSU is located at the main campus in Nicosia currently under construction. This is a new hotel-type accommodation per academic year cost 2000 euro inclusive of bills.

Also students can get shared 2 or 3 bed room around and share the cost. We have some few undergrad students working in our international office, they rented 3 bed for 450 pounds and shared.

Hello good afternoon sir, trust your day is going well. Please I will like to make enquiries as regards studying in North Cyprus. I have read many of your post on nairaland where I got your email address and saw clearly how you have helped many people over time successfully. I am a graduate of Computer Sciences (B.Sc) from a university here in Nigeria with a 2.2 and would like to pursue a masters degree in Cyprus. I checked some schools website and found out that their tuition are relatively cheap and admission process is quite straight-forward but I would like to know if there are any possibilities of moving to main Europe or preferably Canada after the successful completion of my programme, probably to further my studies in P.gd or any otherwise without seemingly contravening any immigration law ( Regardless I will like to know if this is remotely possible, please do tell of instances if you know of any).
Please sir I do look forward to hearing back from you soon enough because I learnt I have just this year to take the opportunity as I am already 29 years old. please respond to this post for the sake of newbies of this post and for those who might be willing to use North Cyprus as a stepping stone
CC wip7

The OP contacted me privately with the same message and I have replied him.

My response: We have thousands of graduates that have moved from Cyprus to various countries in Europe, America, Asia, Australia and Africa not just to continue their studies to work as well. Those I know personally are many.

Particularly, there was a boy I recruited from Nigeria, then I was head of African Scholarship at Eastern Mediterranean University, he had very good WAEC (7 A1s), I awarded him 100% to undertake studies in Electrical and Electronic of EMU. He came around 2013, he completed EMU with First class and he currently undertaking a FULL SCHOLARSHIP PhD in the Netherlands.

One of my best students at CSU (Cyprus Science University) completed his undergraduate just this summer (July) and will pick his diploma by Feb 2019 after completing his internship, he already got conditional acceptance in Saskatchewan university, Canada with a graduate scholarship.

Here another one very determined African boy was so focused while he was with us, always calm and academically sound. Attached here is his picture, he graduated from EMU and currently working in the USA at the Silicon Valley

For the serious students, those that can go beyond just their certificate to earn emerging skill-sets, competitive experience and hands-on technicals... won't have many issues transiting to any country of their choice!

well done prof., you are an angel in human form. It pains me that we are not in the same field but plz can you help me or link me with economist researcher. I want to start my PhD next year so I want to start writing papers, and I need someone to give me topics that I can research on and where to publish those papers....plz help ur boy

Thank you and it’s a nice move to start your PhD. If you go back few pages, you will find where I had explained how and where to publish your research out put and also how to search for emerging research topics.

Searching for topics; you or anybody can do that directly. First, do you have any research area that interests you? Any challenges or issues around you, your country or global that you wish a solution can be created? Do you think some problems or specific stuffs are underrepresented or may lead to bigger issues if not treated or not propagated?

PhD is about providing a solution to an issue via research. After lots brainstorming and you can use academics search engine (I have listed them few pages backward) as aid, then come up with atleast 5-10 research topics. Show it to senior colleagues, you can write it here or weigh friend. Then people will assist you in refining the work to suit your interests.

Your research is quite good and considering detoxification kinetics makes it unique.

May I suggest that you can modify your work slightly to inculcate " Simultaneous production of bioethanol and biohydrogen from lignocellulosic biomass..."

Also, which microorganisms will you be using or you will be using synthetic catalyst or hybrid? Will you be considering applying DOE to optimize the biofuel production and which DOE?

Wonderful job you guy's are doing here! I am motivated.
I graduated last year from one of the reputable Nigeria's federal university bagging BSc Economics.
The problem now is that I was told that doing MSc before PhD is not compulsory, particularly abroad. I was told that I could apply for PhD direct especially since I have a good BSc results.
Guy's, what do you think about this??
is it really possible??
has anyone done it here before??

Yeah, there are many institutions abroad that admit students with outstanding results at an undergraduate level directly into PhD program. However, accepting you into PhD program may involve not just your BSc results.

During my undergraduate days, I was not very much interested in getting the highest CGPA (even though I graduated top 3) but I favour acquiring unique, independent and emerging technical experience and practically oriented skill-sets outside my BSc curriculum. I acquired research skills in fields not directly related to my undergraduate and certifications in data analysis, computational modelling, business analytics, electrical and material analyses even though my undergraduate falls under physical science. All these made me significantly different from my classmates and piloted me far far far above and also assisted in securing many academic-related feats.

So, depends on the university, the evaluating team or the supervisor for the PhD program may likely be looking beyond just your high BSc results cos personally, I know many that just crammed their way to obtain great BSc results (am not referring to you oooooo) without possessing adequate research skills, documented experience, unique and emerging skills that can be suitable for the PhD program.

You can try and apply to many of the university. There is no harm in applying; if they consider you suitable you will be admitted but if not they will let you know. In previous pages on this same thread, I remembered one of the members here had a similar issue, he/she was denied PhD admission in the USA as the University suggested he/she should enhance his/her research skills before they will consider the PhD placement. While many have been successfully admitted directly from bachelor degrees as well.

Good luck!

How Reviewer Assess your Funding Application-International Funding Request

I have been opportune to be selected as Scientific Reviewer for many international organizations for Scientific and Technological Development including UNESCO, TUBITAK and governmental agencies in Turkey, Brazil, Chile, Italy etc. I'd like to share some of the aspects the reviewer is meant to consider while reviewing the funding application of numerous applicants:

GENERAL AND TECHNICAL ASPECTS:

Each proposal is scored based on Proposal Quality and Proposal Viability and thus represents 60-80% of the proposal final score. The remaining 40-20% corresponds to the Principal Investigator's scientific productivity. She/He must report at least 10 reputable peer-reviewed publications since last 4 years. Consideration should be given to Female researchers who have given birth during the timeline to be excluded for not less than 25% of the required publication.

Each section of the proposal are assigned scores on varying scales regarding the quality and viability of the proposal as shown below:

Score Categories Definition
5 Outstanding: The proposal successfully meet/addresses all criterion aspects. Any weaknesses are minor.
4 Very Good: The proposal addresses the criterion aspects, although some improvements are still possible.
3 Good: The proposal meet the criterion aspects, some improvements are required.
2 Regular/Fair: The proposal broadly addresses the criterion aspects, but there are important deficiencies.
1 Poor : The proposal does not address in an adequate and there are serious inherent deficiencies.
0 Not qualify : The proposal does not meet criterion under analysis or cannot be evaluated due to incomplete file

Proposal Quality: The quality of the proposal is accessed under the following headings

Conceptual and theoretical aspects.
Hypothesis and Goals of the proposal.
Scientific or technological novelty of the proposal.
Potential Impact.

Proposal Viability: The viability is considered under the following aspects:
Coherence between work plan/methodology/goals.
Feasibility of the proposal.
The existence of the appropriate infrastructure and resources.

Then the CV and scientific productivity of the principal investigator will be accessed for experience, skills, consistency and increasing productivity via a verifiable means.

This is not the fixed criteria, however, the majority of the review are designed in this format. I do hope this helps some of you that will be willing to apply for an international funding.
