Cindino20: Wow that's quite an interesting research you got. I have not used DMFA for kinetics of batteries before but I have good standard experience with short-time Fourier transformation (STFT) for kinetics of batteries. Also, I have known a friend that works lot on dynamic impedance spectroscopy using DMFA and currently he is on loan to NASA. May I ask, which type of batteries you work on and Have you worked on magnesium rechargeable batteries before? I likely gonna get a fund for MRB.. 1 Like 1 Share |

Profeme: There are bunch of research areas in computer science and computer engineering, however, you will be fine and competitive if you can direct your focus on the emerging research areas in computer science. Below are some of the interesting areas that is researchable in any clime you find yourself: Emerging Research Areas in Computer Science/Engineering 1. Data Mining and Geographical Information Systems (GIS): Research in this area explores efficient storage and visualization of data for analysis and pattern discovery. You may direct your focus toward anomaly and pattern detection, spatial and scientific data mining for application domains like transportation, bioinformatics, cyber security, and smart sensor networks. 2. High Performance and Cloud Computing Security (Hot topic actually): Research in this area explores the development and analysis of parallel algorithms for distributed or multiprocessor systems. You may look at energy-aware cloud computing, Data and infrastructure security auditing in cloud computing environments and Vehicular cloud computing (will be very nice research area). 3. Robotics, Embedded systems and Artificial Intelligence (I am a chemist but I know this very well and I teach it as an undergrad course in my uni, I use the AI for drug, toxin detect etc): Several research here fall under the general umbrella of AI. Lot of hot research areas in computer vision, computational biology, and e-commerce and probabilistic language models for use in spoken language interfaces and motor information. Embedded systems are just so emerging that almost all countries need it these days: You can research: wearable computers, body sensor networks, intelligent sensory devices and deeply embedded wireless sensor systems. 4. Bioinformatics and Computational Biology: Research in this area explores the use of computational methods to better categorize, visualize, and model biological data and systems. This you have to work with medical, biology and health related units and AI can be incorporated. and how can one find funding for his research as a student who has already started his Phd programme. All above research does not require special funding. You just need your computer skills, data and start working. When you publish something great and developed unique products you will get sponsors. For instance, in 2015: I designed magnetic nanomaterials that can selectively extract valuable materials from the sea and was targeting boron. After publishing 3 papers on that, I applied for Funding to Turkish Govt and I got 65,000USD, you can see all my work after then I have to report that this is sponsored by TUBITAK (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) see one of my attached papers. #Note: to get funding, it may require that your research area has potential, will solve problems and you might have demonstrated via publication. You may consult companies like google that fund research with potential, some pharmaceuticals that may be interested in case you are working on bioinformatics, some electronic companies in case you are working on embedded systems etc. Also, look at various research grants provided by TWAS: twas.org/opportunities/research-grants ensure you check the eligibility and other details. transbut5: I am willing to provide some potential research topics, but I like to know the following; 1. You are Phd student or Phd candidate? 2. What is your field of study? 3. Which facilities are directly available to you ? 4. Why energy storage ? And what do you know about energy storage? 1 Like 1 Share |

transbut5: All Elservier, Springer, Wiley and Taylor & Francis journals are free to publish. Only open access are paid. Before publishing, you need to consider the following: 1. Do you have acceptable research work of international focus ? 2. Is the language of this manuscript standard enough to be accepted for review/publication? 3. What is the contribution of your work to the body of science that will warrant its publication? 4. Have you passed your work to senior colleagues to initially review and make some suggestions? 5. After, those 4 points have been considered then you will or must have known the journals that will be suitable to publish your work. The title of your work and contents will assist you in selecting the right journal to publish. 10 Likes 1 Share |

MonsieurCoder: Scimago is just a research group that takes most of its information from scopus to rank some journals. It's not an indexing database or coverage. Take note: you don't need to pay kobo for any quality publications in standard journal provided you are not choosing open access (not necessary). To find quality journals, kindly check major publishers like Elservier, Springer, Taylor & Francis, Wiley, British societies, IOP, IEEE etc. Just type any of above on google, then search for their journals you will find quality journals. To check the index of any journals kindly visit the Master Journal List under CLARIVATE ANALYTICS and to check their Quartiles (Q1-Q4), visit web of science. 4 Likes

My Current Research: Highly Flexible Supercapacitor Fabrication for Energy Storage The rapid increase in the global energy consumption and the environmental impact of traditional energy resources has led to tremendously increased research activities on clean and renewable energy sources recently. As these new energy forms are intermittent or regionally limited (e.g., water), there is a pressing need to develop advanced energy storage systems, such as supercapacitors, for efficient storage of electrical energy at all scales ranging from solar through wind farms to wearable electronics. My team: Myself (Supervisor), 3 PhD students, 6 undergraduate students Funding: Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey and Cyprus Science University Campus Research Funding Funding amount and duration: 10,000 USD (6 months timeline) Electrode and Electrolyte Materials: Electrode materials will be fabricated from waste chewing gum and electrolyte from extracted cassava or irish potatoes. Applications The supercapacitor will be applied for energy storage in a small-scale in applications Including transport, stationary, flexible, wearable and micro-supercapacitors. Publication: Outcome will be published in quality Journals of Power sources, Energy Chemistry etc and presented at international conferences. Interested in Supercapacitor?? A supercapacitor is a device that can store a large amount of energy, typically 10 to 100 times more energy per unit mass compared to ordinary capacitors. It is preferred to batteries owing to its faster and simpler charging, and faster delivery of charge. 1 Like |

Research grants for young scientists As I mentioned earlier, I will be posting some grants and research funding opportunities for interested and capable scientists. Below are recent calls for two different grants and award. I won the first one last year, so others can benefit also: UNESCO Green Chemistry research grants for young scientists Green chemistry has become a target for cutting-edge research into sustainable technologies. The grant programme aims to promote the implementation of innovative research projects in green chemistry by young scientists that respect the 12 principles of green chemistry. Young scientists aged with a PhD degree (or equivalent) in chemistry or its allied areas are invited to compete; the age limit is 39. Successful projects will be selected by an international scientific jury. Grants will be up to US$30,000 and should be awarded for research that may be completed in one year. 2018 CHEMRAWN VII Prize for Green Chemistry: IUPAC The CHEMRAWN VII Prize was first announced in August 2008 and since then it has been awarded every two years at the IUPAC International Conference on Green Chemistry. The Prize of USD 5000 is granted to a young investigator (less than 45 years of age) from an emerging region who is actively contributing to research in Green Chemistry. The deadline for the 2018 edition is 31st March 2018 and applications should be submitted through the dedicated application form available at this link: https://iupac.org/2018-chemrawn-vii-prize-green-chemistry-call-nominations/ 5 Likes 2 Shares |
Education / Re: ABU Zaria Project Topics And Research Materials | Download Abu Project Material by wip7: 10:31am On Feb 24, 2018 |
unnproject: All the project topics listed for chemistry are not related to chemistry graduation projects. There is no way to apply knowledge of chemistry in those listed topics. 98% of projects listed for chemical engineering are not academic projects. Those synthesis projects listed for pharmacy requires high-precision equipments for fabrication of nanoparticles, characaterization of the synthesized materials using SEM,TEM,XRD, NMR, ICP-MS, BET etc. I doubt the existence of these equipments within the reach of the project writers. I also noted that most of the topics under science are not designed to: 1. Provide solutions to problems 2. Warrant academic publication in quality international journals You may refine all those suggested topics, instead of writing for the student which is academic offense, you may refocus your company to guide students in writing and doing research and charge for your service. Recently, I visited a small workshop/training center in Manitoba (Canada) that trains students on research. They have their own small butvwell equipped labs with various equipments and expert for this purpose...they charge students around 1500usd for 3 months full-house practical training on research and writing of their projects themselves with help of mentors. Think in that way. Best wishes in your bizness |

YoungMil: Hi, With your CGPA, you will be admitted and possibly get research assistantship with EMU or METU. These are quality universities specifically for EEE. Fees ranges 4000-6500 usd for entire program and if you have assistantship that could provide you some working and salary. Please take note assistantship is not automatic but METU most times issues that to graduates with good CGPA. If you are interested send me complete application documents. Note: you are advised to have a standby sponsor or fees for tuition and accommodation for your entire studies in Cyprus becos jobs are scarce to obtain. |

MonsieurCoder: You are right. I think the promotion in academic ranks in Nigerian tertiary institutions should be revamped to work like tenure-track system with conditions (successful number of quality publications (articles, chapters, books), successful grant and project management). Also, plagiarism software such as Turnitin, ithenticate etc should be made accessible and plagiarism limit on MSC/MA candidates should be less than 20% while those of Phd less than 10%. Very important: students evaluation for each instructed is done twice per semester at my end and any instructors graded less than 3 will face board questions and for 3 times such instructors likely loose his or her job. Such thing should be introduced in Nigerian institutions and since is anonymous, this may likely activate the instructors to work smartly and effectively. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

Metrics4tea: Did you ask what exactly makes PhD program in Federal universities in Nigeria slower or lengthy? If the major reasons are known, may be before you start anywhere in Nigeria you can first tackle such issues. I did not study in Nigeria but I have co-supervised some master and Phd students with some Nigerian professors. What I realized (personal observation),is that majority of those supervisors lack research capabilities, less experience with research formulations (they can appear experience), creativity is low, mostly think inside the box, equipments and laziness. But they blame it on ASSUU, pastors, Imams, Fulani herdsmen, IPOB, native doctors. 6 Likes 2 Shares |
