Mikell344: I don’t know what the immigration officer will ask you at port of entry. However, either at port of entry or exit, you must have information regarding the university you are going, who will sponsor you, your program of study and where you will live. Have all your academic documents original and photocopies. Speak and dress like prospective academic student from a positively-cultured country and responsible family. |

Mikell344: This is a tiny one building university. It has no accommodation of its own. Anyway, it’s located in Famagusta where offcampus apartment is cheaper than other city. You will find apartment either shared flat or one bedroom flat around 1200-2000 TL monthly and sometimes you maybe asked to pay for 3-6 months at a go. Use this link below to see accommodation cost ( this your university is in Famagusta/ Magusa) https://www.101evler.com/kibris/kiralik-konut/magusa and school fees per year? Have you not gotten admission? If yes, all university writes the yearly tuition on their acceptance letter. Also, visit the university website to read to know more about the university and tuition. I don’t understand how you will be going to a university without knowing anything about the university like tuition and accommodation before you even process the admission. And sorry sir the writing part is it like essay or composition I don’t know what the writing part look like but if you have passed high school exam like WAEC or NECO from your country, and can read and write then you have nothing to fear it’s not TOEFL or IELTS it’s just common entry ENGLISH exam. and what are the document I should go with while traveling there sir. What are the questions am going to be asked at the port of entry sir? How did you get your admission? You applied yourself or via an agent? Read your acceptance letter; all required documentation are generally written in the acceptance letter and you can also email the university for all you need. 1 Like |

Mikell344: You will be sent to English preparatory school which you will pay for and may last 1-2 semesters until you pass. And I need idea on how there English proficiency test looks like sir. Basic English for anybody that can write, read and communicate in English. Depends on the university, some are multiple choices testing tenses, verb use and short write up. 98% of those coming from English speaking parts of Africa pass it easily cos is basic. 1 Like |

Holuwahphemi: Did you receive the circular from emu regarding this? Have you made arrangements for EMU dormitory. Look for my email in my signature. |
Travel / Re: North Cyprus: Part 2 by wip7: 3:58pm On Sep 02, 2021 |
Holuwahphemi: I can only verify 100% that EMU students with accommodation approval (proof of accommodation issued by the university) paid just 750 TL also from Africa. As I write this, a master student who happened to be a graduate of Laughtech from your country arrived on Wednesday and was collected from Airport by an EMU assistant, paid 750 TL, and is currently quarantined in her paid accommodation. Are you coming to EMU? EMU has circulated the message to all incoming students and agents..... also if you are coming to EMU, send me your acceptance letter, accommodation details, and flight details at least 3 days before, I will be speaking with the vice-rector particular on this. If your university is not EMU, then I encourage you to consult your university regarding this. |

Mikell344: Having studied in different countries and traveled extensively, I can assure you that if you do not have a full scholarship, working to pay tuition and living expenses will be extremely difficult, and the situation maybe even more difficult for those in non-English speaking countries such as Cyprus. Recently, I taught a sessional course at one of Canada's institutions, and one of the students in my class was a Brazilian who had to return to her homeland because she couldn't manage the financial situation and the backbreaking work required to survive. I have seen countless students from various countries as well in Cyprus that have stranded and left university for years because they can’t afford the tuition and those with jobs hardly can even pay the fees. If you don't have enough money to pay for a full year of tuition and housing, you can continue your studies in your home country for the time being. However, if you insist on traveling in order to support yourself through work, you may be lucky or unlucky depending on the situation. However, be prepared and optimistic; regardless of your plans, do not do anything that would ruin your name or that of your country. You might also consider learning some digital skills that will allow you to be self-sufficient without having to do a lot of time-consuming and strenuous work. Hint: One of my students (a 23-year-old Palestinian lady in her second year of engineering in Cyprus) is a professional blockchain developer and junior machine learning scientist who self-taught herself. She is a practical expert with a long list of projects under her belt; she recently signed a two-year contract to work remotely for an Australian company building solutions, earning a solid wage without ever leaving her room. First, this is a plus for her since, unlike people who engage in fraudulent activities online, landing a job after graduation will be a piece of cake for her given her present recommendations and projects she has successfully accomplished. Mikell344: In general, students should arrive prior to the start of class so that they can finish their housing and immigration paperwork without interfering with their studies. However, students arrived slightly late due to a variety of factors, despite the fact that the semester's deadline was set by each university's schedule. So, to assist you in planning, I recommend you to consult your school's academic calendar, which can be found on the university website, to determine when classes will begin and the deadline for course registration. Jobs are relatively scarce as Cyprus is an island with a sizeable economy dominated by education and other allied services, which has been exacerbated by the Covid lockdown, which has impacted a number of enterprises. Although some businesses have begun to recover, it should be noted that, as in nearly all countries where English is not the first language, finding work in Northern Cyprus may be hampered by the language barrier, wages for survival, and unregulated working conditions. Some students find jobs easily, while others struggle. If you are coming for undergraduate education, make sure you have at least two years of tuition and living expenses covered before you arrive. Holuwahphemi: At EMU students don’t pay for quarantine room—it is FREE. In general, when you reserve your room you will be sent to your room to get quarantine since is your room that your have reserved or paid so nothing like paying. Also, EMU already have some special dormitories for students to take care of such. If your are coming to EMU, ensure you fill the pre-arrival form online, have your dormitory sorted and EMU representatives will collect you from airport and also follow up http://orientation.emu.edu.tr/ |

If you are coming to EMU, get a proof of accommodation show at upon arrival and pay 750 TL is that simple. Note: I am a professor with EMU and have met with number of new students and EMU has also circulated the message to all incoming students . |

Profmaojo: Almost all the universities in Cyprus offer master program with 50% discount. The fees varies based on program and university. Some university charges around 2200$ for entire master program and university like Eastern Mediterranean university charges around 6700$ for entire master program which already included 50% discount. Cyprus university do not need Ielts but requires proof of English from your country or English exam upon arrival and there nothing like block account (block account is mainly for Germany). |

New student arrival last night to TRNC from Dark Red country So two new students arrived yesterday, specifically from Kenya. They already have a rented apartment letter with them and were only asked if there is someone in this apartment which they said NO. They only paid 750 TL which 350 TL will be refunded as tracker fee. They are asked to quarantine in their homes. I just spoke with them from their apartment. Those with no proof of accommodation were asked to go to hotel and they will bear the hotel cost themselves. Please ensure your PCR test is valid upon arrival and possibly have a bank card with you. 1 Like |

CEOwatazs: This will be possible. Admission into PhD program varies by university; in general the following are considered: —- relevant courses taken and passed at undergraduate + master classes are largely considered. —- CGPA at both undergraduate and master levels. —-thesis or research area is taken into consideration. — Research proposal on how relevant to your proposed and previous academic will be considered In most countries abroad, the PhD admission evaluation will be largely based on your undergraduate courses 70-80% (meaning that, in the academic aspect, the department check if you have taken and passed relevant courses to economics at your undergraduate level), then this will be combine with relevant courses you have taken at your master level 20-30%. If there are courses you are supposed to take to boost your knowledge, you will be given foundation courses relevant to Econs. 4 Likes 2 Shares |
Good day Mr wip Can you confirm if the payment of 5400tl is true. Reading about that from you for the first time. And also in other to process my student permit in CIU do I have to pay my complete tuition fee No, each university has a minimum a student should pay to register, as soon as you make such payment, you will be able to process your student residency permit. Or can I still process and get the permit while I pay the tuition fee installmentaly You can get the permit as soon as the university registers you, CIU is 1000 euro to register except some countries. Drhay: 3 PhD students came in last Wednesday from South Africa and two other on last Saturday from Egypt… these students are funded students of my lab; they never pay any quarantine money, so where you heard that is new to me. What they paid was 700 TL for test and tracker which Turkcell will refund 400 tl to them after 10 days. Couples of old students also arrived from your country days ago and only paid for just Covid test. Get updated news from the Government site regarding traveling procedure before you travel. emmanick: TRNC do not have a student visa; all students either those that come through the OKTB or transit visa must apply for STUDENT RESIDENCY PERMIT….this permit is usually 1 year and renewable for all students that register annually and allows you to go out and return to the country. So if you have OKTB and wish to apply for visa afterwards, it’s waste of cash and time since the visa that will be issue is TRANSIT VISA that will last within 1-3 months; however, your residency permit already sufficient to stay legally and travel to/fro. I hope that is clear. |
