You can't say this. I reside here in Lagos and I know that the mention of the word 'Biafra' sparks fire in overwhelming majority of Igbo people here, including business and land owners. We may not openingly talk about it for obvious reasons, but when the time comes for a referendum then we'll know. You don't expect us to run back East now just because of online chants. Finally be rest assured that we have no plans of drowning in the lagoon.
it was one yoruba id!ot and imposter dat was here making a noise claiming that he is igbo that i said it to so that he will run away.
and actually did run away wgen i said it because he cud not find any other claim to use and convince me.

The thread is a haven for other ethnic groups to call Igbos all sorts of names. You claim to be Igbo and opened this thread to discourage those agitating for Biafra, yet you ignored and even supported mor0ns like omoamukoda in bashing Igbos out of context and purpose.
Now people are all over the thread insulting Igbos generally and you're rejoicing and merrying with them. What type of Igbo are you?
Have you lost your senses? Do you actually know your roots? Are you really Igbo? Even non Nigerians would ask these questions.

You don't see anything inciting but I'm riled up already.
Take for example, you were asking who Igbos were and what they stood for when the British came to Nigeria. You're Igbo, nevertheless, the Hausa/fulani centralised pre colonial system of administration made more sense to you than the egalitarian Igbos republican system. Even the whites recognised us as people naturally independent, our system was comparable with the ancient Greek democratic system. Is it that you have an inborn slave instinct or you're an Hausa-fulani claiming Igbo?
Even Yorubas insulting Igbos on this thread would also marvel at the level of your Iberiberism if actually you're Igbo.

No matter how strong you're against a decision you will never stoop so low in technically making stupid jest of your brothers. A Yoruba won't cherish our pre colonial system of government over theirs and that leaves me wondering if you're actually sane or just a jumped-up random impostor.

In reality Ibos want to coexist because Nigeria is a big outlet and produces economic sustenance to their livelihoods, and quality of life. Their disadvantage is political.....they are culturally endowed with a social system that is apathy to the mode of politics and state rulership practiced in Nigeria. Democracy and State Rulership....the existence of a social heirarchy of authority and orderliness comes natural to Yorubas and Hausa/Fulani, who for centuries existed under Obas and Sarkis.

So Ibos want Nigeria but the Nigerian politics is too overwhelming for them, and everytime Ibo get power he miuses it and ruin everything because the system is too confusing for his understanding. As i said earlier, Bifra is a cop out...a hideout for Ibos intimidated by the political rivalry.
your stupidity is lagendary.
stop using igbo style of politics to convince us.
we hv never been interested in Nigeria politics and do you know why?
because we hv never want to be part of Nigeria.
all we need is our own country then you will know that we igbos don't play tinubu and yoruba, ewedu, amala and odourless fufu type of politics.

I feel a deep sense of grief and bewilderment when I read a lot of misguided comments from my Igbo brothers with some calling for a violent secession from Nigeria. Most of the generation of people making these statement never witnessed the civil war. They did not see first hand the horrors of war. They did not experience the terrific impact of bombs or the loud ear splitting sounds of heavy artillery shells as the explode. Should I talk about the economic impact? How our people were reduced to paupers and had to start from the scratch. How beautiful daughters were forcefully torn from the warm embrace of their families and married off to leprous men in the North just to spite our people. Only a mentally deranged and prone to self destruction individual will ever in his life support a violent secession from Nigeria.

Our problem is not secession. Our problem is learning how to live with other tribes in harmony while doing our businesses. Our focus should be on how to build consensus across the nation for vital political interests.

I laugh heartliy when I see some misguided Niger Delta youths like barcanista and co trying to be clever by half by playing to our sense of entitlement. Speaking from both sides of the mouth about how our people are being pushed aside and marginalized.
Yet these are the same people that effectively sabotaged the Biafran struggle under Ojukwu. These are the same people that lead the enemy in through our backyards and betrayed their so called brothers. Now they have started a new song because their brother Jonathan who performed woefully was booted out by majority of Nigerians.

I want us to know sometime that is historical. The moment an attempt is made to secede, the I jaws will immediately turn their backs and negotiate us away to advance their interests. So we will end up alone fighting the whole of Nigeria and loosing again.

When the chips are down, we are always alone.

Another point to consider is that Nigeria has become too intergrated to break up. Almost every family has in laws across their tribe. How will that be handled?

Igbo are the most integrated people in Nigeria with business interests across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. Most of our people will become jobless or stay and be killed the moment a secession is declared.

Those who knew the truth will tell you that even inside Biafra there were still serious cases of tribalism and nepotism, even under the revered Ojukwu. That was why ahiara declaration became necessary to tackle these issues.

Finally, we are not ready militarily and would only be engaging in another massive waste of life if we insist on our ways.
So my people do not be deceived! Our best and only bet is to remain as law abiding citizens of Nigeria while doing our best to continue to be relevant in the scheme of things.
Ka Chineke mezie okwu.

You can rignt millions of this if you like but the truth is thatvyou can't and non of it can stop d movement.

Bad politicians
Within the framework of Nigerian politics, the Igbo also have a fundamental problem. Out of the three major ethnic groups in Nigeria, the Igbo have by far the worst politicians. They have no recognizable leaders, and have no discernible strategy as to how to negotiate power at the centre. As a result, the Igbo have tended to be short-changed at the federal level. Traditionally, the inconsequential ministries, such as the Ministry of Information, have been zoned to them.
The Igbo need to work out a plan that will take them to Aso Rock. First, they need to choose and groom a de-tribalised leader of the Azikiwe mould who can be sold to non-Igbos. Then, they need to give him undiluted support. At the moment the internal politics of the Igbo militates against this. Every potential Igbo leader seems to have more enemies within than without. This must not be allowed to continue.
The Igbo need to help themselves in order that their friends can help them. In this centenary of Nigeria’s amalgamation, as we embark on the arduous process of crafting our future through a National Conference, we salute the Igbo for their fortitude and implore them to stake their claim in Nigeria. Nigeria cannot survive without the Igbo.
There is nothing like bad politicians.
they main point is that the igbos have never been interested in nigeria politics.
and the reason being that they have never wanted to be a part of Nigeria.
the want their country. .so thats reason why they show no interest in Nigeria politics
